There is no if, ands or butts about this. The guard was wrong. I have a friend that was there when it happened (not an inmate) and he guard provoked the WHOLE incident. He should be fired for NOT doing his job. As for the guy who said inmates lose there rights when they commit a crime. That is true to a certain degree but at the same time people are people and even as much as we (including myself) might want to strangle this guy ourselves some restraint has to be shown.

Ouch... the poor child raper has bruises.
I would like to know what prompted the guard to attack him. I hope it was somewhat justified so he doesn't lose his job or get into trouble.
He needs to learn how to smack the child rapers around without leaving bruises!!
I agree...who is the administrator or cheese eater that would forward the actions of the charges against a c.o ?? at what point in your life do you wake up look in the mirror and say ...im going to see that a convicted piece of garbage that preys on the helpless gets a fair shake........?? I mean ..is there a town where people with that kind of outlook come from??#&#$%&^^& him!

I say just put them to sleep...like the sick and rogue animals that they are. Then no one would be tempted to beat the the hell out of them. They could just bring them a pizza for their "last supper" and smile when they served it. I would.
There is no cure for rapists, or child, molesters. THERE IS NO CURE...put them to sleep...they are animals.

If the convicted was my brother, sister, or son...I would put them to "sleep" myself. I had a grandfather who molested me when I was a child.
I had no one to help me. Years later ...now retired and a grandmother, myself. I refused to remain a victim and have had a very long and happy, productive life. I am one of the few that made it with very few psychological scars...THE VERY FEW.
They are sick animals...years later I found out that he...a well respected man... in our community had molested seven more girls under the age of ten. Church is a great place to "hunt" for these sick animals....watch your children...

These rapists, murderers and muggers are terrorists and should be locked in giant outdoor caged areas to live in tents. Hopefully, they'd kill each other off and we'd be rid of 'em!!!!!!!

A little off topic, but why do we have notification laws in regaurds to sex offenders being released from prison?
I mean, if we feel we need to warn the public about their pending release, then why are we letting them out?

I can well understand the emotions that are being expressed here, but there are larger, more important issues at stake:

what is the role of a prison guard? What are his duties?

ALL of the prisoners have been convicted of serious offenses of one sort or another. Should we schedule beatings for them the same way we schdule meals and showers?

How often? Once a week? Twice a month? Daily?

How severe? Just enough to get their attention? Just short of death? Maybe beat one to death every now and again to keep the rest on their toes?

We stand at the edge of a steep and slippery slope, my friends, when we give prison guards even tacit approval to beat those who are in their charge, as emotionally satisfying as that may be. Shall we take a step back from the verge or slide down into the pit?

I am sure the inmates would play nice with him.
Would you say that if he did it to your child.

NO, just the child molesters. Hae you ever been a victim of child molestation. What if it happened to your child? How would you feel than?

1. Yes.

2. I would have wanted them punished (my kids are now in their 20's) within the scope of the law, which does not include beatings by the prison guards or even the other prisoners, from whom the guards are supposed to protect them.

Logically I agree with what you're saying, but I just cannot force myself to REALLY want this guard to be punished. I'm just being honest.

I wasn't advocating punishment for the guard, only saying that his actions are inconsistent with his duties. It would be helpful if the warden would arrange for mandatory inservice education so that all of the guards know what is expected of them. Once that has been done, disciplinary action will be appropriate for any subsequent departures from their professional standards.
