He is right. Many of the founders were deists. Jefferson gutted the bible and took out all the spiritual parts and made it basically the 'teachings of jesus'.

Well sorry you feel that way. It appears that most people reading this thread feel the same way you do. However, it does look like you are going to see "In God we trust" on the courthouse now. Looks like somebody is ok with it. I know that makes all of you mad an scream "WE ARE NOT A THEOCRACY". Just as you Athiest or whatever you call yourself has tolerated Christians we have had to tolerate your insults over this website. This is the only way you can get your point across because you are not brave enough to stand in public and proclaim that "you believe in NOTHING". That evolution happened and all these things started falling in place all the sudden. The creation of man, woman, bearing children, the functions of our brain and body parts was not thought up by something or someone. That's not even the beginning. Look around you! Your belief in creation is a "Harry Potter" story to but it just happened all of the sudden without influence from any creator. I guess this computer in my hand magically appeared one day, The car I drive, the clothes I wear. All of these things landed in my lap. NO! They all had a creator or inventor. Yet the most amazing invention ever created(man and woman) with a brain that can store thousands and thousands of information and for a woman their bodies can bear children. You think something that amazing just formed on its own? I don't believe it. THAT is the most foolish thing I have ever heard.
This is sad. The New Testament rightly prophesied that those who believe in Christ would be ridiculed. You will be rewarded one day for standing up for the truth! Woe to those who deny God with all the evidence of His creation, from the incredibly massive universe to subatomic particles and everything in between.

Actually, it is intellectually dishonest to deny a Creator today. One mathematician estimated that the odds of one DNA molecule in your big toe had about a one in ten raised to the 35th power chance of occurring naturally, due to its immense complexity. That's many trillions of times the number of atoms in the known universe. So in other words, it couldn't happen. Most unbelieving scientists today are starting to face the improbability of accidental origins and are coming up with bizarre theories about alien visitations etc. causing the beginning of life here, which explains nothing. On the contrary, such explanations simply add more problems (e.g., where did the aliens come from, how could they travel such great distances, and so on).

The first chapter of Paul's letter to the Romans speaks of these pathetic "intellectuals." It says, "professing to be wise, they became fools." The Old Testament says he who denies the existence of God is a fool. Right now, they laugh. One day soon, whether they believe it or not, they will bow down before Jesus Christ on His throne, and confess that He is Lord. I pray they see the light and bow down on this side of the grave before it's eternally too late. But I'm not optimistic.

hey their fruitcake james, if you feel all that harsh at god, and you really feel that way for sure with no reservations i mean if you really and truely feel that way then you need to worship the devil and if your a true devil worshiper then you shouldnt hesitate or back out of i o do? i want you to give me all your money and i mean all of it and dont try to start back stepping, to try to get out of it because all your money has gods name on it and i am sure you dont want any part of it with gods name on it now do you? or are you one of those kind that you call people if they are not doing exactly what you think they ought to be doing or acting, but anyway i will give you my address or meet you for it and dont hold back now i mean at least be dedicated to the devil if you refuse to believe in god, so you can tell me where to meet you or whatever to get that awful stuff off your hands because if you truly believe in the devil he will provide for you like my god provides for me its just like this will be a little something extra for me this week, praise the lord. take my word for it if you have blasphemed the holy spirit you dont have no more chances anyway thats just the way it is but no matter what i will still pray for your lost soul so just let me know.

So ONE mathematician pulls a number out of his ass and that makes it so? If that's your logic, no wonder you believe in ancient fairy tales.

So if the Scientologist book said in it that 'one day my followers will be ridiculed' and that 'only fools don't believe in scientology' that would make them facts? Get real.

If he doesn't believe in god, why the f*** would he believe in the devil? That's stupid.

Name the mathematician.

This argument always drives me nuts. You're assuming 1) that someone actually did this calculation and 2) their calculations are correct. Let's assume those are true (even though I don't believe they are).

Now let's play a game. I'm going to put the numbers 1 through 100 gazillion in a hat. Then draw one number out of the hat. The number I pulled out was 14.

You: "Sorry, you did not pull the number 14. The probability of pulling 14 is too low. It's impossible!"

Me: "But I'm holding it in my hand."

You:[With fingers in your ears] "LALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU BUT I WILL PRAY FOR YOUR IGNORANT PRIDEFUL SOUL!"

When you find the amazing mathematician who did this calculation, can you ask him the probability that there is an invisible superhero who created the universe, is able to raise people from the dead, and is able to make angel shapes in clouds for people to post on facebook; but can't find the time to stop ministers from raping children?

Most believers with half a brain are starting to face the improbabilty such an a hole god.

Realy? Realy? Do we really trust God? Does our community really have the credibility to make such a proclamation in writing on the door post of our community? Do you really think that God is going to look at putnam County and say "Oh you blessed children of mine, I will bless you since you publically made it known that you trust me"???? This reminds me of a certain individual who put the ichthus fish on his business cards and talked like God was the most important thing in his life and then promptly ripped me off and never came back. Tell me why do we need this? Would it not be more important to live it out than to just make some sort of statement to give the appearance of a Christ centered community? I am frankly sick of seeing all of the hypocrisy from people who publicly wear this statement on their chest and so is the world. Most people will tell you that when they meet someone who puts the fish on their business cards or truck or whatever, watch out!, they are likely very dishonest. The secularization of our community or country is not going to be curbed by putting big plastic letters on gov't buildings, but rather the change in the heart of the believer first. When business men stop using their savior to sell their services but rather use their services to sell their savior we will see revival in the market place. It's the same thing in the all other facets of life! Let our lives bear witness to who bought us with his blood and stop grandstanding like politicians.

1 Corinthians 13 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Ask your self when is the last time I have done good to my neighbor? When is the last time I have put others first? People think that time with the Lord constitutes time in prayer or reading His word. I tell you that it also include time you spend ministering to others in need.

Matthew 25:41-43 New King James Version (NKJV)

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand,‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

If you have no burden for the lost or those in need, check your heart. You might need the Lord to change it. I am not saying take down the plastic letters, I am just saying that if your going to make the claim, you better be ready to live it! Does the visitor to Putnam County look at the words on our courthouse and see us as a God fearing community or slick smooth talking fish displaying sheisters?
