All that have outstanding issues with their care should do as I have done. Several of my medical friends advised this action prior to addressing legal process.

well dr arrowsmith did my surgery and failed to correct my vision. I am still in glassess I had had a previous rk. I got so mad and I was so scared to go back to him so I went to dr wang. I have dry eye syndrome and cannot wear contacts. I was going to go back to dr arrowsmith and see if he could put in an implantable lens. and what about the money we paid him for surgery with a 5 yr promise to correct my vision. now I don't know what to do or who to go see. dr wang seems to be focussed on my dry eyes and doesn't offer any surgery or anything to get me out of glasses. can anyone help?

Aren't doctors supposed to send you a letter months in advance letting you know before they move or close a practice?

I had Lasik eye surgery about 4 years ago and Dr Arrowsmith did a GREAT job. I had no problem and even my own eye doctor would not have know I had surgery if he had not known to look. He even said Dr Arrowsmith did a great job. Somethings up because Arrowsmith eye institude was top notch!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to Dr Arrowsmith for my greatest gift, my sight!!

Like many others on this post, I too called Dr. Arrowsmith's office and received the disconnected number message. I had Lasik surgery in 2009 and have truly enjoyed seeing without glasses or contacts. No issues with my eyes either. I wish his office would have contacted the patients to let them know of the change in circumstances. My heart just fell. I wish him and his staff the best.

Blah blah blah...why don't you go cry some more? I am glad he got your money and I hope he is in the islands drinking and living it up on your dime...dumb butt

Ok, Dr. Arrowsmith is the greatist eye surgeon in history, a saint, blah, blah, blah. My question to all his fans: what do his patients do now?
Eye surgery is expensive. We all paid a lot of money to Dr. A for surgery and follow up care. Yes there are other eye doctors in Nashville, but they have no obligation to treat Dr. A's patients. They, of coarse, would love to treat us, as long as we pay.
The point of this conversation is not what a great Dr. he was, but how he left us. No referrels, no communication, no follow up.

Maybe you should rename yourself "TROLL Alert". What good will it do you if Dr. A is on an island as you "wish", drinking it up? I'll always be amazed at how "LITTLE" people can talk so BIG while hiding behind a computer screen. Obviously your mother didn't clean up your room in her basement to suit you today.

Just found out today May 31, 2011, by heading to a scheduled appt. that Dr. Arrowsmith is gone. Nothing where his previous location was. No note on the door, no phone call, postcard or anything letting his patients know what was happening. How unprofessional and uncaring to just leave your patients hanging to fend for themselves!! The last I heard he was closed during Dec. for office renovations. Turns out those renovations must have been "moving out and closing down". Would be nice to know what in the world is going on and how to get our medical records!!!!

I had my surgery with him this summer. I heard he had financial issues and closed up. A lot of us are left hanging. I'm considering legal action.
Are you really interested in legal action? We are too and trying to get in touch with as many of Dr. Arrowsmith's patents as possible that would be interested in joining forces.

If you are indeed interested please reply back.

CJH and lls,

Thank you for your positive response! The more we can get to come together on this the better chance we have in getting something done. I am contacting the attorney that I have been speaking with and ask the best way to get you in touch with him. Whether it be you contact him direct or he contact you. I will let you know.

If you know of others or can get others to join forces, please feel free to begin getting them on board.

Thank you!

CJH and lls,

The attorney we have been talking with suggests that you provide a means of contact that you are comfortable with. Such as an e-mail address possibly since you will probably be posting this on this blog. This would be the safest form of contact over the blog.

He then stated he or we will contact you and work out a time to come together for a meeting and discuss what is going on with each of us and which direction we are willing and in agreement on going.

We will be waiting for your response. Remember to get others on board as well!

Thank you once again.

Like many of you, I had an appointment scheduled today with Dr. Arrowsmith. After I had gotten to where his office used to be I discovered it is gone. If anyone discovers how we can get our medical records, please contact me at [email protected] Good luck to you all.

For physicians who are retiring, leaving a practice, selling a practice, or deceased, what are the responsibilities in transferring medical records and notifying patients?

Opinion 7.03, "Records of Physicians Upon Retirement or Departure from a Group" specifies that when a physician leaves a practice "…patients should be notified and urged to find a new physician and be informed that upon authorization, records will be sent to the new physician." When the physician is leaving a group, the patient "should also be notified of the physician’s new address and offered the opportunity to have their medical records forwarded to the departing physician at his or her new practice."

When a practice is being sold, Opinion 7.04, "Sale of a Medical Practice" recommends that patients should be notified, and the records should be transferred to another physician who will, upon written request, send copies to a physician of the patient’s choice.

In addition, individual states may have regulations pertaining to the transfer of medical records and the notification of patients. You can contact your state licensing board or medical society to find out what the regulations are in your particular state. Contact information of the licensing boards in all 50 states.

The post above was from the American Medical Association web site. Only 30% of doctoos are members. Interesting. I tried calling the TN Board and got a busy signal.

Audrey,

We are in the process of having an attorney look into matters. Are you interested in joining forces?
