A symbol of Southern heritage to you can be a symbol of a horrific time to many black people. Since Trace probably sold 3 or 4 CDs to black people over his career, there's no monetary gain for him and he's a pretty down to earth guy so the reason he probably did it is that he felt like it was something he needed to do. I've met him a few times and believe me, he doesn't dance to anyone else's tune.
