I was just notified by my primary care physician that he would not be accepting AARP Medicare Complete insurance. This puts us in a predicament as we are now forced to find a new doctor after being with Dr. Mark Houston of St. Thomas Medical Group for close to five years. I would have chosen one of the other Medicare providers that are accepted by Dr. Houston had we of known during the "open enrollment period." I even visited Dr. Houston's office in January and nothing was said at that time. Now my husband has an appointment in February and we were just contacted today that he is no longer accepting our insurance. My husband is on heart medicine and for him to go out and find a new doctor just like that seems unreasonable. We were told by the Customer Service Representative from AARP Medicare Complete that we have to choose a new doctor and facility within a couple of days so they can issue a new card. From the way I figure it we presently do not have any insurance. We are in limbo. I guess senior citizens are being thrown out to the pasture to die like I read in a newspaper article. You can't imagine how depressed this has made me. We should have the option to change insurance when someone drops the plan. It's definitely no fault of ours that this happened yet we are put in this position. Does anyone have a clue as to what we should do? Do we have a leg or two to stand on? Help!!!
