And if your child has the vaccine, and you're so confident in it, why does it matter if mine do not?

However, in this case, the state does not have the power to force a human being to let someone inject them with something in a syringe. The law should stay that way.

oh??? ya mean like the mandated health insurance that passed this year (obamacare)...the government should pay for EVERYONE's medical insurance now?

The government is paid to protect us not to run car dealerships, give banks in other countries money to bail them out, not to take from tax payers to give to ppl w/ a lack of education child credit for having children they couldn't afford. YES the government is PAID to protect us and that's what I like to think I pay taxes for. We're not a Democracy were a republic we elect our presidents, governors etc. Some people wouldn't get their children shots, send them to school where they make other children sick. My child/children shouldn't have to die because they may or may not get sick from a shot.
Get your child immunized voluntarily and the ones that do not get vaccinated won't have any effect on your own child's safety. Why make everyone else change when it would be much easier and cost effective for someone like you to just get with the way things are right now?

The govt is there to protect OUR RIGHTS.

For you. The benefits outweigh the risks for you. Have you ever had a vaccine reaction? I have. It's not debilitating, but it was rough. And I was old enough to tell my parents and doctors what was happening, though hard to describe. I was in 7th grade the first time it happened, and high school the next. I wouldn't wish loss of muscle control and 6 months of uncertainty and testing on an infant or toddler.
So just because some minuscule number of people experience adverse reactions, we shouldn't mandate vaccines in order to prevent widespread outbreaks of deadly diseases that could potentially wipe entire continents clean of their human inhabitants in as little as a few years?

So you'd rather that your child be at risk for developing potentially deadly shingles later on in life because you're too thick headed to get them vaccinated for the disease that causes it?
Obviously you have no clue about what the vaccine actually does. Just check with any medical website or book and you will plainly see that PEOPLE WHO GET THE VACCINE are the ones that will more likely get shingles in adulthood than the ones that didn't get the vaccine in their childhood. Know your facts before you comment on a topic.

Earth to dumbass, you can get shingles if you've had the vaccine.
"Immunity to the virus declines with advancing age, making older adults vulnerable to shingles. We believe that by boosting the body's immune response with this vaccine, shingles and its complications may be prevented." - Norberto Soto, M.D., principal investigator for the Shingles Prevention Study at the National Institutes of Health.

Oh so your telling me it's okay for the government to purposely infect you with the chicken pox.
And yes they do have a break out after getting that shot.
And yes years later are finding out that the child are needing another shot.
So I'll pass on the Wikipedia can edit when I want
A lot of shots are you being infected with the virus. This either makes it so you don't get the virus or you don't get it as bad.. like the N1h1 (pig flu) if you don't get that shot for your children and they get it they die not get a little sick die. All my children had the chicken pox shot and none of them got a rash or broke out in anything. I got the chicken pox from my oldest kid and I can tell you its much worse on an adult. When My oldest got it there wasn't a shot. She run around like it was just another day. I laid in bed thinking I might die any time now!! Shots are important and if they were causing deaths etc the government would take it off the market you see it everyday. I understand taking it off the market after a death isn't the best. I'm worried about this new shot their giving little girls for cancer and not in any hurry to run her to the doctor to get it. I figured I'd wait until its been on the market for a while to read up on it then... that's my job. In a few years when I check into it and every things looking good she'll get one if not she won't. Its hard because we love our kids but at the same time if we don't get their shots they could die. We don't have small pox anymore because of shots.. THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE!

I think yes shots should be mandated for the health and safety of our children. In the past 2 months children have gone over sea's and come back w/ whopping cough and mumps because those countries don't mandate or can't afford shots. I watched a program that said they did research on shots and autism they said the shots had nothing to do w/ it. I don't know if they do or not but seems to me if they did more kids would get autism especially since the shots now are the shots our parents and we got. When you decide to have children you take on their wants and needs no the government shouldn't have to pay for anybody's kids. The parents should pay for their health care, food, education, etc that's most of the problem w/ government today ppl except the government to pay for everything which is us the tax payers not the government.
IF OUR CHILDREN GOT THE SHOTS WHY DID THEY GET SICk??????

They should be recommended, highly encouraged, but not mandated. Mandating them says, "who cares about those who'll have an adverse reaction." I feel they have their place, just not in my home.

So tell me this. Would you rather pitch in to pay for a $5-$8 vaccine or a $500,000 hospital bill? I have no qualms with my tax dollars will going towards preventative health measures.

Intelligent people do not want their tax money spent to control people's choices about their own bodies. If a parent chooses to not vaccinate their children, it is not the govermnet's concern, nor should it be. It is not in the US govt's jurisdiction what precautions I take with my body. A government that can force it's hand with a human body of a free citizen, the rather short road to total civil rights collapse is not far behind. Many new vaccines are dangerous. The fear is founded.

I've had the shingles and I will tell you if I could of gotten a shot to make me not get them or not as bad I would of RUN my happy ass to the doctor. They were worse then child birth the very worse awful pain I've EVER had in my life. I wouldn't wish them on anyone.. and I have a few people I don't like and wouldn't wish them on them idiots!! You might still be able to get them maybe not as good of chance or maybe they not as bad but I'd sure enough get the shot because you sure enough DON'T want them .

You are a f*cking idiot. So what if they edited the wikipedia page (I doubt they did but since that's the route you want to take, that's cool too)? It's common knowledge that vaccines are killed or weakened forms of the viruses that they aim to prevent. I also know of tons of kids who have received the vaccine and *surprise* none of them broke out like you claim they do. So begone with ye and take your miserable fail with you.
Well first of all I want to thank you for showing your ignorance.
Second I have had five nieces and two nephews get the shot back in 2001 and each of them had a mild break out of chicken pox.
Now if I want a government to infect us with something I sure wouldn't be living in the states.
Again with all that being said...I did state my children received all their shots except for the chicken pox shot.
And that I also have a child with aspergers which I do not believe was caused by vaccines.

So now that you feel like a big boy with your panties all pulled up and the name calling out of your system.
Hope all works for you and yours as you let the government infect you.

To the elderly, who probably haven't received boosters in decades. To younger children who haven't yet been vaccinated. To individuals who have significantly weakened immune systems due to various medical conditions. To people who were vaccinated but failed to develop a complete tolerance.

Other children that are so sick they can't get their shots.. leukemia, cancers, etc and yes even my kids w/ their shots. Some shots don't prevent illness just makes it so its not as bad ie chicken pox. We use to get small pox shots they stopped giving them because nobody was getting them anymore.. a few kids come back from other countries back to the states and had them. Those children could of killed hundreds if they didn't catch it right away. If you don't want to get your children shots that is fine w/ me just don't send them to school with the other kids.

I sure do I pay way to much taxes now. I pay for ppl that have kids that didn't finish high school so they get thousands of dollars in child credits, I pay taxes for Mexicans to get free health care, food stamps, housing I pay out my butt and then some. Oh in case you haven't noticed most of the free health care isn't going to Americans born and raised here. We're losing jobs to ppl that are happy with a few dollars an hour because their government sucks. I pay over $10,000. a year in taxes were a small business and I'm all about the tea party TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY and more the my fair share.
