How many more are working in our penal system? Just think about it, some of those penal systems you can't even bring keys in or anything else for that matter yet, you have not only drugs but cigarettes too. Some of the visiting areas, there's only glass where you talk to the inmate, Hill Detention for 1, and just 2 weeks ago all of the inmates in one of the units was on lock down for a few weeks because of Marijuana, how did it get in?, I'll tell you, through one of the Officers working inside, we need to really screen the officers.

So why are we not surprised that very few come out of any prison reformed! They do the same drugs in there that made them criminals out here. Is there no end to the corruption in every level of government and service? Obviously the justice system has failed us all.

The justice system has failed us when there are over 840,000 arrests annually for marijuana charges a drug that does less harm to people than alchohol or tobacco. The worst thing about the drug is the fact that it is illegal and ruining the lives of those arrested for it. 840,000 arrests annualy.

I'm sorry , but do you know that for a fact. I work for Davison Co. Sheriff and I cane give you the facts. Sometimes no matter how many searches you do people just happen to be able to get things in. Lets's take HDC for instince, You may have a inmate that's considered a trusty and his job is to clean up around the jail and on the outside. We do watch them, but we've had people bring drugs and leave them on the ground like trash. They pick them up and hide them. We can't do a cavity search on everybody. We have approx.2400 inmates, I don't belive we've done a bad job. How many times have you heard of one of OUR officers on the T.V or about the Davison Co. Jail being out of control. People get us confused with other facilities(not that they've done bad considering there numbers) People always want to critize on something that they don't have all the information or it's information they got from a LOVED ONE that is locked up. It sounds better or more for THEM TO BRAG about if they say that there on lock down for marijuana instead of not cleaning there cells or for being disrespectful.

You make an excellent point. They do have a lot of free time to think. I'm just glad the good ole boys are aware of that. And glad that this guy got caught.

everybody has made there point on this.but lets get down to real problem!!! if the commissioners wouldnt be giving there selves raises every year and give some to the employees in corrections.there wouldnt be things like this going on.take a look and do some research on the pay scale for a correction officer in tennessee. tennessee is 1 of the top under paid state correctional officer.if people in the offices downtown wouldnt give themselves raises every year and spread it to the employees down the food chain!!!there might not be such a big problem with officers getting caught up in the situations... i rather see a inmate high and laying down not bothering nobody than 1 sitting inside with a cell phone in which some of you dont know how many gang shot callers are in nashville's penial facility..where they can make calls to have your butt shot when you leave work!!! dont get me wrong its all wrong and shouldnt never happen...what do i know ... yes i work in 1 of the nashville prisons (state)... its bad when davidson county sheriffs dept. makes more than a state employee doing the same type of job!!!

I agree!! I work for Davidson Co. and I say we could use a pay raise, but you'll definitly could. That's why we have so many people that come to work for us after working for the state. I can honestly say that Daren Hall has done everything he possible could to make sure that security wasn't cut during this years budget. He also tried to find other positions for people use job title was cut. It's a **** shame that OUR Mayor doesn't seat and think about the safty concerns he puts correctional officers in when he comes up with this crazy percentage to cut. Our jails and prisons are full of dangerous individuals and we're all that keeps them behind bars. GOOD LUCK
