As a man of letters, Rob Neufeld should know that "begging the question" does not mean "demanding" or "requiring" the question. "Begging the question" is a logical error sometimes called "circular reasoning." As William Safire wrote in his "On Language" column in The New York Times, July 26, 1998, "To use to beg the question as a synonym for 'to call for the question' is a mistake. Why? It's a mistake because it is in error.(That's begging the question.)"
