1944-45 schoolyear (I believe yrs. are correct, but could be off a little !) Teachers name was Lena Lepke, from Hastings. She left and school shut down. We were all transferred to Kellogg HS
in town.our family lived 1/2 mile east of Quailtrap , just east of the old Fred Fuller farm. Raymond Swan, Marie & Helen Sibotean, were some of my schoolmates. We all loved Ms. Lepke She had a daughter (adopted i believe) named Mary.
I was wondering if perhaps there are some pictures
of the old one room school? and if so, could I
perhaps purchase one. Thank you for any help you
can give me.I remember so well, swimming in the Thornapple River, behind the football/baseball
field, and all other sporting events held.
Thanks again , and God Bless, Eric Larson.

There are old photos of the Quailtrap school house but none available online. A call to Putnam District Library may glean some help as I'm sure they have photos. The building still stands but has been converted into a residence.

My mother taught at Quailtrap in the mid '30's and remembers it well, along with Fred Fuller. Fred had 2 daughters my mothers age and she had stayed overnight at their house many times. Fred was head of the school board and was the one who hired my mother for the job.

From your description, you would have lived around the corner from Graden Andrews over on Curtiss Road. In the other direction from your house would have been the Sixberry's and the Goforth's.
