Residents wary of proposed Rt. 33 ramps

Full story: The Morning Call

Bob DeReamus has lived in Tatamy for 45 years, long enough to remember when the biggest nuisance in the area wasn't traffic or development but the smell of pigs and manure on a windy day.

As a resident of Stockertown, I say let them put it in. These people are bitching. We get no benefit of the current routing of all this traffic through Stockertown Traffic is horrendous in Stockertown.

They were pitching that but the Hockey folks picked the Allentown riverfront. You will hear more in a few weeks.

I love comments like these. Do you not realize that your house hasn't been there for eternity? Before it was built, there was probably a field or forest there. You are also a product of the shame you talk about. We all are.

Do not believe anything these experts are telling you. Bottomline, there will be traffic, it will be busy and your way of life will change forever. The good news is that this is not a Government sponsored project. Not sure if it can be forced upon the people in that area. The people should be enlisting the help of their state representatives.

Yet again, local residents fight progress. The real question is how Chrin plans to use this land. I am guessing they'll make another industrial park which will bring jobs and money to Palmer and Forks. Getting to the current industrial park in Forks is circuitous and requires either going to Stockertown and backtracking, or getting off at 248, driving past the new prologis facility, and then Main St. Tatamy. Hopefully they'll approve this but I bet the residents will fight it tooth and nail.

You can be sure that if enough money changes hands this project will be approved and implemented. And with the Chrin name involved there's a good chance that enough money WILL change hands. Just ask Williams township. I foresee the next Chrin landfill near this new interchange.

That would not be prudent based on the sinkholes that are all over this area.

Exactly where is the progress? I look across the Lehigh Valley and see empty industrial parks with more than enough roads to handle the industrial traffic, but they lack tenants. The fact that a local business man wants to pay for it tells you there is great reward for him ONLY in this plan. If the "locals" don't want it in their backyard, then the government must listen. At least that is the way the Constitution was designed.

I guess what Chrin wants,Chrin gets. Isn't that how it always is. Donate a building get a development. Do all the work for an interchange at non state rates I'm sure, and he'll get what he wants again. Tatamy is a nice small community, Main St has issues handling all the traffic now. I hate the trucks all day long going 45- 50 mph down the road, the dirt on the houses is gross!! It will only get worse. The only way I support this in any way is to make Main St a NON Truck route. Otherwise I will help the fight "tooth and nail". I bought my house here years ago and it was quite and peacefull. Now to cross the street you have to run and hope a truck is not going 50 mph down the road. Plus the sinkholes, they won't rebuild the other bridge in Tatamy because of the sinkholes but willing to build a new one very close to the other? Does that make sense??

Would seem like an ideal area to build a hockey arena for the AHL's Phantoms to move to the Lehigh Valley. The new owners want an an arena here, and building it right off of 33 make sense so that you can draw fans from the Lehigh Velley and the Poconos for hockey and any other event scheduled in te arena.

That didn't stop the school district from building a school on the limestone vein or a developer from builing houses. I agree, the prudent thing to do would be to leave it as is.

I doubt the problem that Stockertown will shift to Tatamy ... the problem will simply be duplicated for Tatamy, with developers profiting the locals suffering the consequences.

I have been and continue to be against this additional exit. The feel of Tatamy will be ruined with the additional traffic with no benefit to them.

Of course I realize "my house", has taken land. In that area there are nothing but malls, etc, just how many malls do you need????? Why do you think flooding is becoming worse in the last decade????? No land left.
Utter disregard of the environment to satisfy greed of people.

I agree w/ the rich guy & his property comment. In no way shape or form can this help Tatamy or Nazareth. It's sad to say, but these engineers and developers always win.

Tatamy resident ... my, how could I forget ... sink holes!

No one is thinking beyond what money it will put into their pocket.

And instead of eating up farm land for HOCKEY ... put the Phantoms in Allentown or Bethlehem, leave Tatamy alone!

Oh, and my fellow Penn Stater, Matt ... I echo others comments, having a larger, but empty industrial park does nothing to aid the economy.

And you can't tell me that adding another way to access 33 within 1 or 2 miles of TWO other exits (Stockertown and Rt. 248) is going to cause a rapid change in the local economic impact to anyone other than a handful of developers.

I might not live in Tatamy, but I stand by my neighbors in saying ... NO, NO, NO!
