Skipper Kerry steers clear of yacht taxes - Sentinel & Enterprise

There are 14 comments on the Sentinel & Enterprise story from Jul 25, 2010, titled Skipper Kerry steers clear of yacht taxes - Sentinel & Enterprise. In it, Sentinel & Enterprise reports that:

Sen. John Kerry should be ashamed of himself. After years of voting to increase taxes on struggling Americans, the senior senator is docking his new $7 million yacht in nearby Rhode Island, where he isn't obligated to pay the nearly $500,000 in taxes he would pay if the boat were moored in the Bay State.

Senator Kerry may also be guilty of not paying R I taxes. This 1993 tax exempt law was passed to have vessesls built in R I to help the economy. He is not allowed to be tax exempt in R I as the boat was built in new Zealand, thus it does meet the R I tax exempt law.

Built in New Zealand??? Geez, that reeeaaally helps all the local boatbuilders a lot doesn't it? Thanks for looking out for the local working stiff, socialist doubletalking elitist democRAT. And to think people vote for this guy because he claims to be a friend of the "little guy". the working stiff who supports this clown only sees his hand wrapped around his paycheck squeezing out every drop of tax money he can get.

He would only be responsible for taxes if he moored the boat in Mass. Oh, wait, he DID moor it on Martha's Vineyard on July 4th. Hmmmmmm. Do you think the state will go after the sales tax? Doubt it. Laws only apply to us little guys. He should have stuck to wind surfing, preferably in an area infested with great white sharks. Glad to see how he bypassed U.S. boatbuilders and went to New Zealand for his boat. Talk about a man for the people! Sheesh. Who keeps voting for this buffoon anyway?

No investigation needed. Just send him the sales and excise tax bill. If he doesn't pay it then send him a summons. Then if he doesn't pay prosecute. If it were anyone else the state or town would just send them the bill. Wonder if he also paid any customs tax since the boat was imported?

I agree, had this been joe middle class and his family the government would not only be demanding payment but would take the boat in lue of taxes due before we got the boat back,

this dork does not give a rats rump about the working class or the very people that vote for him, as long as he gets to continue to be in the senate and give himself pay raises while taxing the crap out of the working class he like his poster boy obama is content to lie their butts off and blame everything on bush, oh wait, maybe it is bush that owes these taxes and not this friggin idiot

Keep voting the crooks in and this is what you get. I think he should step down or be recalled or impeached or whatever they do to get rid of these liars. Does this boar run on steam? Environmentally
safe? You wonder why people are tired of politicians? Not me. They are the entitled class.
Look at the new open meeting law. Does not apply to legislatures only town and city government. So much for transparency.

I have Cousins in MA, and they have berated me for being against J. Kerry, I have not liked the man since he run from the fight in Viet Nam, while the rest of our boys got cut to pieces, but this shows exactly why there is more then one reason he needs to be gotten off the Hill and replaced, it is time for him to go and let his Wifey run his life again. GET HIM OUT OF OUR GOVERNMENT!!!

Don't forget the fire hydrant that was outside of Kerry's house on Beacon Hill in Boston, he had it moved so he could park in front of his estate.

John Kerry walks into a bar. The bartender asks him "why the long face?"

Let's all buy our cars in NH, give our address as the parking lot at any NH WalMart and then register the car as a NH resident.
Just about the same thing as the Kerry-Kaper, but do you suppose we won't get away with it?

I can't imagine having the $500,000 to pay the tax, never mind purchasing a $7 million dollar boat. How can this guy ever understand us?

I couldn't be more depressed after reading this article.
