You hit the nail on the head. There's a vacancy about her persona. Like a shallowness of sorts.

Just an observation. Malika Dudley should tone down the blatant self-promotion of her surfing exploits, bikini body, stunt woman, "around the town" exploits, etc., etc. on her weather spots. It's enough that viewers have to view these clips just to get to the real reason why we're tuning in.....the weather....we now have to see who she's partying with on the weekends in Midweek as well. Don't get me wrong, having a life isn't a crime but it's like the self-absorbed relative who is showing the latest family pics at every get-together. I don't have to know that she's friends with Lanai Boy and see pics of him riding the waves in a canoe during the weather reports. It just doesn't come across as professional.
Word! Guy Hagi must've taught her everything she knows about self-promotion... to the point of "wow, they no shame, yea?" levels.

Someone get a needle - need to burst that bubble!

Since my income is less than $173,06531, income tax is around 31%. Keep in mind though, that I don't have to pay for health care, for my children's education, or for eldercare to assist our aging parents. The cost of purchasing utilities, medecine and healthy food is low compared to the states. My spouse and I had about 2 years of child care leave when we started our family, and we have six weeks of vacation and holidays per year. This is also one of the safest countries in the world. We do not have a drug or homelessness problem, nor do we have many prisons, because we don't need them. We have clean open highways, and dependable, frequent mass transit.

We seem to do fine, even if we pay more in taxes. We have lived in Hawaii and loved it, but we had to struggle to make ends meet.

Local news in Hawaii is dismal. It's pretty sad state of affairs.

To those who are saying KGMB is that much better than the competition, I must disagree. They're pretty much like all the other stations ... boring and annoying. Okay, maybe not as boring or annoying as Joe Moore.

Keahi Tucker - Good looking cookie cutter fellow but seems sort of like a smug, pompous cartoon character. Like a Stepford anchor.

Stacy Lowe - Nice, bland middle aged lady who looks like a school librarian.

Tanya Joaquin - Odd-looking, equine-like serious woman with a distracting gummy smile who seems anamatronic.

Guy Hagi - Annoying small man with an ego of a man three times his size. Don't you have to have mastered the English language to be on TV in Hawaii? I don't trust him.

Liz Chung - Portly gal who should be doing the "Cheap Eats" segment with those two other portly fellows. Does she know anything about sports beyond what they write for her to say? Linda Cohn is a friend of mine. You, ma'am, are no Linda Cohn.

Steve Ueyaha - Bland looking fellow. Kind of like iced tea. It does the job, but nothing to write home about.

Grace Lee - Annoying Chinese lady who is overly effusive to mask her rather average looks. Aren't TV people supposed to be attractive? And why is she so giggly all the time? Someone take away her happy pills.

If this is the number one news team in Hawaii, let's collectively throw our TV sets in the ocean and go back to getting our news on the internet.

Cheers.

Wish they got rid of Dicus or however you spell his name or moved him from news to something else, just not pleasant watching an old unshaven man talk. He reminds me of that time warner cable commercial of that dude living in the parents basement claiming he invented something first LOL. He has that painted cat beard in the background, like is he meant to be "cool" or something by having that???

You are too funny. But, in some way you do make a whole lot of sense. To me, who cares about their broadcasting skills...as long as Malika Dudley, Stephanie Lum, etc. is on I would them. But if you put Joe Moore on, man, I would rather read about the news and than watch his ugly A $$...come on, say it with me, "sex sells"
Man, are we doomed! No wonder we have so many pervees and sex crimes on the street.
"sex sells." alas...

It certainly sounds like a utopia. Your income tax rate seems close to ours when you consider both federal and state, as well as general excise tax and other taxes and fees. I expect your situation is similar inasmuch as you seem to be provided far more government services. You've gotten my curiosity up so I have to do my own homework. I'm missing something big in all this comparison.

Rich people don't flock from all over the world to live in Sweden! The taxes are too high for them and the summers are too short. You live in a tropical pardise that most people here can only dream about. Too bad Oahu has gotten so run down. Last time we were there, we were appalled at the traffic and the homelessness problem. I don't see how elevated rail is going to do anything to make it a more inviting tourist destination. You could impose more taxes on rentacars, and improve your bus and taxi system and your bikeways with taxes instead. Meantime -- your news programs are laughable. Too many ads and too much emphasis on personality.

Do you remember that stupid promo with Tanya Joaquin where they show her legs only, and the title was "Why did the dumb news reader cross the street?"

Who the f cares? She's an average news reader who has a face for radio. Between her bad blonde streaks in her hair, her horse face, and her gummy smile, I end up turning off my TV.

I hear she's a really arrogant b. She can walk all the way into the Pacific Ocean for all I care.

If this is who they're banking on to save the company from bankruptcy, they're totally clueless.

The new KGMB/KHNL = the Titanic.
