Guess this is the Native American version of an American Medical Association meeting. Bet it's a lot more fun with all of that peyote for refreshments.

I thought this was the version of the Burning Man in the Nevada desert, but either way. I wonder how many hippies are going to show up, or how many pot dealers are going to be selling out the door. Also if I had a snack shop or truck I would park it right in front and probably make a killing.

Yep, it's going to be a grand old time. Chew a little peyote, heal a few folks with eagle feathers and hit the old sweat lodge after knocking down a few cold Buds. Medical meeting at their best.

"Is a Native American who is a Christian and not a member of a Native American religion, still permitted to have eagle feathers?" Great question, the way I understand the Laws concerning Eagle Feathers if you are a member of a federally recognized Tribe and or DNA recognized American Native Person the answer is YES, but you have the Native American Church of North America and / or its affiliate 'closed door' Native American Churches with the backing of the Law Firm 'Native American Rights Fund (NARF)' who are attempting to persuade the United States and all Tribal Governments that you DO NOT, regardless of your Tribal Affiliation and or DNA proof of your American Native Heritage, thus attempting the legislation of religion by governments based on racial and / or political criteria. I find these attempts to use Governments public funds (Tribal, Federal and State Agencies; Attorney Generals and Drug Enforcement Administration and etc.) by NARF to blemish the principles of the first amendment criminal.

If you are a member of a bona fide Native American Church you have the legal rights to have Eagle Feathers in your possession regardless of your race.

Your version sounds remarkably similar to the Christian zealots that believe in faith healing.

"Founded in 1970, the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) is the oldest and largest nonprofit law firm dedicated to asserting and defending the rights of Indian tribes, organizations and individuals nationwide.

NARF's practice is concentrated in five key areas: the preservation of tribal existence; the protection of tribal natural resources; the promotion of Native American human rights; the accountability of governments to Native Americans; and the development of Indian law and educating the public about Indian rights, laws, and issues.
" from http://www.narf.org/

I get that the NA's got "reserved" a century and a half ago...but what now? What rights have been taken away??? Voting rights, property rights, social services handout rights, casino rights??? The only rights that the NA's are losing are those that are being taken away from their own people. Why not open the reservations, allow the NA's to sell their portions to the highest bidder....and let those "culture's" live amongst all of the others which are trying to maintain their integrity within the mainstream. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

FYI (as if anyone cares): Peyote can be dried up and then reconstituted with enough water to be made into a paste. Peyote, after being dried, can also be boiled to make peyote tea, which is the common form consumed during a religious ceremony. Peyote can not be smoked. I don't know of anyone who has tried smoking peyote, but I imagine it smells terrible like feces. A peyote "high" is unpleasant and uncomfortable. Side effects of consuming peyote are headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and frightening hallucinations. All symptoms are almost immediate.

Too late, I am already scheduled to give a brief presentation on diabetes prevention Saturday morning and also a presentation later in the evening on proper diet and exercise for those who already have the disease.

After listening to the beginning statements about what constitutes a fraud and then this Charity Rating Guide and Watchdog Report grading NARF a 'F', what do you think this means?

I personally believe John Echo Hawk's NARF will sooner or later be discovered to be the largest scammer's of American Native resources and rights than Jack Abramoff.

Unfortunately, this is not a public forum for anyone. If you truly are certified MM/or woman, entry should be valid...Peyote high is not on the same level as Marijuana, it is a deep development of out of body experience without the paranoia weed produces...it calms, opens new directions of thought and life....never sip the brew without someone with you. You could find yourself in LA or NYC without ever knowing it...

Just a question. Why does it make the news when 250 medicine men get together for a conference and the media portrays it as something good, PC, etc., but when a bunch of preachers or pastors or ministers get together the media trys to make is sound stupid, bigoted, racially motivated, etc.? Seriously.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Cancer

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date. Look forward, not back, if you want a glittering future.
