Road work update: Farmington resurfaces roads galore

The city will resurface and repave almost three dozen streets this summer, along with some other major road construction projects.

'The $7.5 million project, called the Navajo municipal pipeline, will allow the city of Farmington to sell water to the Navajo Utility Tribal Authority.' This project is misnamed. It needs to be called: Fisher Property Enhancement Pipeline. Actually the San Juan River has moved south of this property, technically it is now part of the Navajo Indian Reservation - do not tell those in Window Rock or any prospective buyers.
Mineral Resource Developers have already acknowledged this fact - sending working interest and royalty checks to the Navajo Nation, not Mary Fisher - O-boy is she mad !!

all that work in less than a week? what a joke... did you mean july 1 2012? the city street crew doesn't have enough people to "repave" that many streets. what about costs and budgets???? didn't the city just say there wasnt enough money to pay all the current employees next year? Keep an eye on Mayes.... he will skim off the top!!! why isnt he still preachin??? one hand picked after another! the good ole boy network in Farmington has to stop.

No the city does not have enough street crews to do it, they hired out a few contracting companies, if you would drive near the areas you would see non city companies ACTUALLY WORKING, not holing up shovels like most of them you see on the side of the road, that is how they get it done in a week, as for the money maybe they went and got a bailout, or found some sort of supplement grant or something to pay for these minor improvements.

Bike lanes and widening a road. Stimulus money...benefiting in 2029. Some roads do need resurfacing. Some don't need it on the current schedule. Curb & gutter. Sidewalks. Use proper concrete mixtures and the concrete should not decay. Don't repair the curbs and gutters until absolutely necessary which does not include cosmetic reasons. Structural. Transportation infrastructure is one of the few items working. Stoplights cost money....lots of it. Oh, not to mention electricity and cameras. Fill in the cracks. A $ 7.5 million dollar water line to sell water to the Navajo Nation? Was there some other settlement requiring this work be done? How many years until this pays back the taxpayer? Is there a study available for the public to access? Links appreciated. Remember, you the taxpayer is paying for this work to be done. Our government should ensure that the work is actually necessary.
