I can't believe it. I simply can't believe I have just read a Daily Times article about this particular case and must recognize it to have been written fairly, concisely, and to the best of my knowledge, factually. I am astounded!

it's about time, people...

time to FORGIVE and move on...

time to "allow" the Navajo to progress as most of the "CIVILIZED" world has...

I'm sure they can build a world just as nice and just as friendly to those who truly believe in FREEDOM and EQUALITY for all,

just as the US Constitution states...

ONE NATION UNDER GOD...

for egg mix

I read this as two seperate statements. Freedom and equality for all as the constitution states.

Then a seperate statement One Nation Under God.

The problem with these forums is you can not hear how some one is speaking. You can't hear sarcasm dripping (I am bad on that one,and have been called on it. Even though I thought it was obvious), or where the person would be pausing and stating a seperate thought. I have no idea where the pause would go in this persons statement. Just thought I would throw my thoughts in.

Compromise has never been a strong characteristic by Europeans (look up manifest destiny). In order to forgive, one has to look into their own heart first, and this statement laced with sarcasm will only fuel an already tense situation.

I am living in "American Suburbia" now, it isn't all that civilized, free and equal.

A guy with a baton, a veteran cop(Highyly Trained They Say),I always thought Police Officers were trained in Hand To Hand Combat? I mean, 1- The kid was drunk, 2-Its a baton, not a gun or knife. To add to it,this so called officer was involved in another shooting earlier this year. Dont know but, either the training aint good enough, no tasers, or not enough to as an officer. And to put th echerry on top , how many officers have been getting in trouble and have been cleared of wrong doings.A normal person with a DWI gets more hell than a cop in trouble.

Well the Dine Nation wasted $300,000 and forced tax payers to pay another $300,000 to defend the city and the officer.$600,000± down the drain just because someone was looking for another handout - I thought the tribe already gave tons of handouts to its people, why do they need more? The dine people want to claim it was racism that led to the shooting, I find it real hard to believe that if the officer would have arrived at the scene and it was a white guy beating his girlfriend, he would have just turned around and left thinking 'oh its just some white dude beating his woman, thats cool' I'm sure the results would have been the same either white/black/brown/red/yellow.. ..

The trial is over, so let's stop talking racism and unjustice. Sgt Shawn Scott has been cleared and found NOT GUILTY. This was not a race issue and I hope that someday EVERYONE will realize this.

Very well put. Sgt was not looking at the color of John's skin, just the crimes he was committing.

Moral of the story, don't get drunk, beat people in the parking lot and then turn on an officer - avoid those things and you'll live another day, to get drunk, beat your woman at home, get in car and kill some innocent family in a DWI related homicide. On a side note, I'm just curious, who was driving that day? Clint or his girlfriend?

Lynn said she was because it was her father's truck. Good thing considering John drank at least 2 - 40 oz beers before going to Wal-Mart.

I would like the DT to admit that they are the ones who fan the flames. They keep using the buzzwords associated with racism and intolerance when, in fact, the racists and intolerant are a tiny fraction of the population of the Four Corners. Their reporting of the relationship between Navajo and Anglo is juvenile and based on the preconcevied notion that the community is made up of nothing but the KKK. I do not trust the DT to report on these issues fairly.

Look up the facts behind this other shooting that you mentioned before you speak of something you have no real knowledge about. Remeber that is FACTS,not your perception of the incident.

Really "Informed Citizen",Really "Waste"? I take it your not from Farmington.I respect Police Officers and what they do for a living, but with all the witnesses and people who seen what had happened, not to mention him forgetting to turn on his camera, wouldnt you wonder just a bit? Put yourselves in the family's shoes for a minute,If that was your son that got shot more than once and also one in the head, wouldnt you wonder ..just a little. Would you call it "Wanting a Hand Out" too?

To the writer of this article, it is no longer alledged that Clint John ignored Sgt Shawn Scott's commands to drop the baton. It is now evidence and in the record that HE DID IGNORE THE COMMANDS TO DROP THE BATON AND GET ON THE GROUND. Just wanted to clarify that fact.

If I was the family, I would be ashamed. I would not make a bigger A double S out of ourselves by suing for "justice." Anyone at Walmart that night, should sue the John family for their son endangering everyone there. LET ALONE THEIR GRANDCHILD!

Farmington Police Officers have been given the GREEN light to shoot as many times as it takes to kill - this is not excessive force.
