Was she railroaded out by people who didn't like her?
Was she bilking the County and resigned to avoid being caught?

Wow !....we're losing Terry Wheeler and Carolyn McCormick all in one year? Surely our taxes will be going down that those humongous salaries won't be coming out of the county tax coffers !!!!!!

I'm glad to see Ms. McCormick go. Hopefully her departure will start a process of reshaping the role of the Tourist Bureau, to include how much funding they receive and how much the next director is paid.

I'd like to point out, it is not a person's job to supervise themselves, especially when a board is in place to make governing decisions.

It's past time that average citizens of Dare County began demanding more from their government leaders other than the usual catering to special interest groups. And, this can begin with the tourist bureau. It is time to appoint several members to that board who have no ties to any elected office or business group within the county.

Can't think of a single person in the county, including myself, without any business or government ties.

The stonewalling by the Visitor Bureau's staff
indicates corruption beyond Miss McCormick. What, exactly, is Scott Leggat's role in this?

The Visitors Bureau has a lot of money. The fat cats wanted their hands on that money and Carolyn would not play ball. So they have done everything they can to smear her name with baseless allegations. Someone even took her personal records and gave them to the local paper. A clear violation of federal law. The money can only go to tourism projects not pet projects of the local politicians. The next head will most likely be a puppet.

Isn't it about time someone jerked the rug out from under Renee Cahoon too? She's been in power on the tourism board for too long. She should go.
But, guess the other members of the board are too scared of her like they were scared of McCormick.

I have to agree with JTR here. Why is this county and it's supposed leaders afraid of RC? Is everyone aware that RC is still the driving force and primary decission maker in who is going to be hired as Ms. McCormick's replacement???? How can this be?? How can any entity expect to hang on to a shred of creditbility when the same person who LIED to the board about the conditions of Ms. McCormick's status...more than once...that directly resulted in her receiving a payout of over $100,000.00 for quiting after getting a DUI in the company car?????(blowing nearly double the legal limit with a staggering .15) Or a police report submitted the day after wrecking the company car by going around the normal procedures and LAW that every single other Dare County resident would have been prohibited from doing. How can she not be professional enough to excuse herself from the process knowing the conflicts of interest that remain after abusing her power and openly bullying anyone who happens to actually have Dare County and not her and her lovers...excuse me...friends as paramount in everything they do on behalf of the tax payers of Dare County. I just can't believe you can openly lie and openly abuse your "power" and NO ONE on these boards gives two *****. That no one has the hair on their balls to stand up and say enough. That this is what is going on and the people and businesses of Dare county are not even in the discussion...just her friends and fellow liars...astonishing. I can't believe I am getting ready to say this but maybe Lisa Cafferty was actually on to something...even more astonishing.

BTW...I've seen one CM driving RC's car around town lately...I guess that double the legal limit DUI and the loss of the free company car is tough on a gal...but having friends in high places seems to cure all ills in this back asswards small town of ours.

Yes, sounds as if Lisa Cafferty did have the right ideas but was told to butt out, acc'd to the paper.

And apparently Sandy Semans wasn't just running a witch hunt after all.

I get PISSED when our local officials d*ck us over.

Let's all VOTE our consciences next go-round, people!

Ethics get your facts straight. A reporter that worked for Semans has a live in boy friend that wrote the police report. It was damage to the vehicle from a manhole cover and it was handled properly. The only unethical behaviour involved the Semans reporter and the officer. This was at least a month or two ago.

Mccormick could have taken a more lucrative offer to resign. She took only what was due to her by law. She can and should go after the former board member that stole her personal information and Semans for the false attacks.

Semans has an agenda and anything she or that rag prints isnt worth toilet paper.

fishbox, where ya been? Waitin for the smell from OBVB to drift?? Let's think practically from a single mother's perspective...if she really thought she had a chance against a former board member who "stole" info then would she have hidden for about a year now? NATURALLY NOT, especially given the size of the former director's pecans! Did she really think that there'd never be a board member with a brain? Apparently so...jokes on many at their own expense, thanks to nuts.

Hey fishobx, how come you have different addresses on your postings? fishobx, do you know something about the police report and the police officer that wrote the report? how do you know the reporter has a live in boyfriend who is a police officer? do you work for the police department or news paper? If you know what really happened, don't keep us in suspense.

I heard the police officer that took the report was fired. Something about not being able to verify what CM told him and questioning the truthfulness of her statements. I heard he was told to look for another job, cause Cahoon wanted him fired. I guess nags head and the tourism board have a do as I say, not as I do policy.

well I for one would like to thank the politicians for continuing the stereotype of corruption in politics. In this case, though, I think it's more truth than stereotype. Ethics be damned, thanks for your post. By the way, does anyone know what happened to that company car of hers? next time you go to drop off your recycling at nags head town hall, scan the parking lot, just more proof that it's nice to have friends in high places.

Any legal action could also include the County. How do you know it has been a year? Seems you know this information was taken and have confirmed such. Do you know what the statue is on such a filing?

The story seems to be on the officer that he damaged city property and was driving recklessly so he left before being fired. Do you wnat an officer that acts in this nature to be working on your police force? Could it be in is zeal to please the girlfriend and the paper in attempt to discreedit CM, he acted improperly? Insurnace adjusted had no problems and other cars ahve been damged in the same lot.
