Leave the Beavers alone. Problem with connecticut and all over is the animals have their habitat as well. Its the humans that keep intruding! Just because some people have to use a different nature trail or no nature trail its To bad on the people . Go somewhere else. There is TOO much wildlife/animal killing in order to accommodate peoples lives or thrill to kill. Leave the beavers and why don't the Humans go somewhere else. KILLING IS NOT THE ANSWER. We all know how the DEP and others loves to kill wildlife/animals that get in their way. Just remember ITS THEIR WORLD TOO (the wildlife that is). Why use a newscast to attract attention and bring on the killing of these innocent creatures is beyond me.

Yada, yada....go watch bambi again. "Thrill to kill"? "Innocent" creature? Ohh ok, everybody is a bloodthirsty killer who hates nature, and PETA is great..uh huh.

Don't you realize the beaver dam water back-up is decimating the grub worm population??? Poor grub worms!

Beaver is tasty meat...makes a good stew. And the fur is soft and warm.

I agree - no need to kill the beavers they are doing what Mother nature intended them to do - they only build their dams near the sound of running water and if I am not mistaken there is device or fencing that can be built to keep them from building and as a matter of fact it was on the "Dirty Jobs" show.

I grew up in a rural area where killing animals was normal. One of my uncles was an avid hunter and fisherman, no problem killing to eat, but he would not trap. My dad and other uncles trapped all the time. My trap hating uncle had a beautiful camp and when the beavers dammed the road to the camp, he could not wait for us to come get rid of the cute cuddly beavers. I wonder how many of you animal lovers feel the same way, NIMBYs you all.

They should put in place a by-pass for the dam. Several beaver dams have had this installed by conservation officers which pipes are placed under water, allowing water to flow through the dam. You can't place them above the water because beavers hear the water rushing by the came, alerting them to fix it. Having this by pass allows the water to flow, prevents flooding and lets the beavers live out their lives normally. Plus its very cost effective

I find it appalling that "killing" the beavers is even an option. Those animals have every right to live and who are we to decide they shouldn't. They should not be killed for doing what they were born to do. My opinion is the pond should be drained!!

I've got nothing against hunting, but I for one would like to keep that dam intact and have a different trail built..Ever see a dam up close ? Pretty amazing the ingenuity of those little guys...

That seems to be the answer to all the problems animals have with humans....
"KILL THEM".......kill the dear, kill the swans, etc, etc, etc......
are people so cold-hearted or is it that they just don't know how to solve problems in a humanitarian, peaceful way...what goes around, comes around.....thank God there are so many more people out there who have love and respect for the animals that HE put here to share our planet.....

There are way too many yuppies concerned about losing their recreation... how about we lose some of them... I think people ought to be more worried about weeding out our own population with the barage of home invasions/murders going on around here, and leave the poor animals alone.

If you can't lower the water, raise the trail. A number of nature preserves have built walkways over or beside flooded or marshy areas. Being able to observe the work of these amazing animals is, by itself, worth the expense.

Yes lets weed out the sex offenders and the "BAD people" out there rather than take everything out on innocent animals. Its like the gas and oil companies keep going up in price out of greed . What excuse do they use now to rip off americans. Same excuse with all the innocent animals that the DEP and all the hunters use. They want to kill to make money and have their so called "trophies". Being man-less its called. I agree with Rosemary. Killing animals is not a cure and should not be allowed!. Its their world TOO. The harm they supposedly do (which is not harm but their natural being) does not compare to the "HUMAN HARM". THINK ABOUT IT. All animal killers and haters do have a screw loose and thats documented. They are probably violent people!!

What a joke.

I suppose you're vegan? After a rant like that you should be...or you're a big hypocrite like every other anti-hunter...grow up.

The other guy wasn't joking when he said beaver meat is good. Despite the mis-information...hunters eat what they kill. This "trophy" non-sense is a lie. Eating deer, beaver, rabbit, duck, is no different than your McCOW burger except we get our own...and wild animals aren't abused like supermarket meat...

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Capricorn

A certain person is strong-willed with the Full Moon in your emotional house of others. It's a lunar eclipse too, so this could lead to some ructions in which everyone becomes firmly entrenched in their own opinions and refuses to acknowledge anyone else's point of view. Get the arguments out of the way early on, so you can then concentrate on having a really enjoyable New Year's Eve.
