Father - Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many
others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and
among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support
more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father
had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought
should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes
on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed
objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she
indicated so to her father.

He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered
rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain,
insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which
left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time
for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent
all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked,'How is your friend Audrey doing?'

She replied,'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes,
she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus;
college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and
lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter,'Why don't you go to the Dean's
office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who
only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be
a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired
back,'That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really
hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey
has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail
off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently,'Welcome to the
Republican party.'

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between Republican
and Democrat - I'm all ears.

ABSOLUTELY! As I ask my young employees, "Do you think you can spend your paycheck better or the government can spend it better?" Of course, they always say "I can!" I smile and say, "Welcome to the Republican party."
America is a land of equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. That is Socialism: everyone equal ... equally miserable.
Just because you don't want to take advantage of your opportunities doesn't mean I have to give up my hard-earned wealth so you can feel better about yourself. The American taxpayer's pocket is NOT bottomless. And it's high time we stood up and said "We're not paying any more, the party's over!"

That would have to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read, the two don't correlate for more than obvious reasons. Nevertheless, One could easily argue that is why professors grade on a curve, and drop low scores, essentially they redistribute grades to a more even level.

Old American Gal

"Do you think you can spend your paycheck better or the government can spend it better?"

That really depends on what the government is spending my paycheck on, doesn’t it. Obviously the government is better equipped at buying M1A1 tanks than I am….I really don’t know of any mainstream politician that advocates for socialism. Higher taxation on the wealth is NOT socialism, its not even close. I agree it is time certain people stood up and said enough with taxation…”Time for you to tax people wealthier than me!!!, bring back the 91% tax bracket!!!!”…and so you know, that 91% tax bracket was under Eisenhower. Eisenhower knew he had a war to pay for, and roads to build, and GI’s to send to school, and so on…

itS not going to matter. Obama has two years and thats not enough to do much. The mid terms will destroy the Democratic Party because Obama will not be able to redistribute the wealth in two years.

Once the interest rates start to climb and the real truth regarding Acorn, Fannie and Freddie on and on, not to mention the ground swell of black anger who will have felt abandoned by "their President" The we will be attacked again because we will have weak leadership and a disbanded Military.

The Republicans will once again provide the balance the government will desperately need. If he does not get shot or impeached he will be a one term President.

I will agree that it will be tough for him to get the support of congress to effect any change.... but he is a MUCH better choice.
Impeached??? if Bush can have the anti patriot act... lies upon lies.... 40k wiretaps nd a war that never ends... the failed economy, his dad and brother started it with the S and L scandal and the need for a 700b bailout along with 10b per month for a war with no objectives.... duh... and poor willie got impeached for lying about a bj... just dont seem right to me.... Obama for president!!!!! Anything is better than what we got now...

Actually it will be easy. There will be a majority of Socialist Democrats in both houses, But the country will look like France in two years and common sense Americans with put conservatives back in both houses to lead the country away from the extreme leftist views of Pelosi Obama and Reid......

Econonmy failed BECASUE of CLinton's desire to offer loans to people who cannot afford them. Banms took advantage Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were pressured and sold those bad loans making millions. Mc Cain called this two years ago but the Dems controlled the purse strings and here we are. I benefited selling three small small 60 year old rental homes in San Diego and profiting $800K after taxes.

But those who bought those homes were idiots who clearly should not have paid so much for 1400SF 3 bedroom homes.

Obama is too late to take my money and there will be no one working to pay state workers because small businesses will layoff workers. Oil companies will pass on any raised taxes at the pump. Big Corporations will pass on the tax increases to the customer who in turn won't buy their goods....

We are on our way to becoming a third world country and with a President named Barack Hussain Obama...that kinda fits.

How Racism Works...

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

You are The Boss... which team would you hire?

With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. consider...

Educational Background:

Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law -20Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire

Thats down right bizzare, to think of Obama, Pelosi or anyone else as a "socialist". What exactly are you smoking?
Econonmy failed BECASUE of CLinton's desire to offer loans to people who cannot afford them. Banms took advantage Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were pressured and sold those bad loans making millions. Mc Cain called this two years ago but the Dems controlled the purse strings and here we are........
Watch one too many you tube videos??? Clinton didn't offer a loan to anyone, banks did, bad banks at that. Nobody made the banks give out bad loans. Use your head. Community Reinvestment Act has nothing to do, with todays collaspe of the housing industry, dergulation is moreso to blame for this than anything else. Who deregulated the banks, and the OTS...Bush. Place the blame where it really belongs.

As for McCain saying something...actually it said something about when Republicans were in control of congress, and you are right they did nothing...shame on them.
I benefited selling three small small 60 year old rental homes in San Diego and profiting $800K after taxes.
But those who bought those homes were idiots who clearly should not have paid so much for 1400SF 3 bedroom homes.........
So you purposely conned poor dumb people into paying to much for a house, and you obviously knew they couldn't afford it...Have you no deceny? You are a disgrace to America!
Obama is too late to take my money and there will be no one working to pay state workers because small businesses will layoff workers. Oil companies will pass on any raised taxes at the pump. Big Corporations will pass on the tax increases to the customer who in turn won't buy their goods..........
Did you know in the 50's corporations paid the majority of all taxes collected. Did you know under Eisenhower the wealthest people were taxed at 91%. Oil companies, corporations, etc can only pass on tax increases if we as Americans let them. Its a choice we make.
We are on our way to becoming a third world country and with a President named Barack Hussain Obama...that kinda fits.
What are you implying, would you rather see his name be Adolf Hitler?

Thats easy

Mc Cain/Palin

Liberal schools and thus educations means nothing......

Clinton cheated in the White House on his wife as did Kennedy and who else.

Obama would have had Palins child Killed becasue the baby is considered "punishment"

Its not all about pieces of parchment with letters after the names.......

It's about CHARACTER.....I don't doubt Mc Cain's character. He as more than proven his strength.

We will learn much more about Obama should he be elected Then the bumper stickers " Don't Blame Me I voted Mc Cain" will be showing up.

I do believe they are BOTH qualified. I certainy reapect anyone that make a choice based on FACTS and not propaganda. I was a McCain supporter in 2000 and still have nothing but admiration for him and his record, I do question his judgement on Palin..... But after the "Bush" years I tend to want to distance myself from the current Republican crop and the programs I feel are the most UNAMERICAN in history.
I am glad you didnt throw out lots of BS about Obama. May the most qualified man win.

You know, I like John McCain. I like any man who has served his nation. I did 5 years in the Marine Corp. So me and him can relate. I'd probably vote for him if it weren't for him picking Palin and him being 72 years old and him just running under another 4 years of the same platform.

Leave no child behind is such a great success!

Clinton cheated in the White House on his wife as did Kennedy and who else.

Why did McCain leave his first Wife?? I would assume someone was unfaithful during that time.

Obama would have had Palins child Killed becasue the baby is considered "punishment"

BS..... but since I dont have ovaries i dont think it is my choice anyway.

Its not all about pieces of parchment with letters after the names.......

Parchment DOES count for something... perserverance and finishing a job, as well as being educated

It's about CHARACTER.....

It IS about Caracter, and determination to do the RIGHT thing for America. It is ALSO about Judgement and Willingness.

I don't doubt Mc Cain's character. He as more than proven his strength.

I dont think ANYONE can doubt McCains Caracter, or Obamas for that matter. This election we have 2 decent choices. I choose Obama.

We will learn much more about Obama should he be elected Then the bumper stickers " Don't Blame Me I voted Mc Cain" will be showing up.
I certainly hope the next 8 years will be better than the last, that we can mend the DAMAGE done to the US reputation around the world by the current adminastration ... get out of Iraq and complete the mission in Afganastan., I am not sure any man can do that and keep the economy in good shape....

Redistribution of wealth

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept.

He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--
the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I have decided he could use the money more. The
homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not
earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the homeless guy needed the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

OR IS IT.........

REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA..........

or just a fools political game !!
