My family and I were on vacation the night of June 8th and were staying at the Dayton House Resort. We went to the beach to watch the fireworks that were going to be let off at the pier.

The fireworks were supposed to start at 9:30 but they were late. It was about 9:45 when we and a bunch of other people around us saw red circular lights out above the ocean(not toward the direction of where the fireworks were supposed to be but directly across from the Dayton House Resort). The lights were at a far distance and would only show for a few seconds and then would disappear. They appeared and disappeared for approximatley 30 minutes all together. They didn't move around quickly...mostly hovering over the ocean in the sky. I would say there were around 40 plus occurances of the lights. Sometimes it was a single red dot and other time it was in groups of three or two. They would move slightly or split apart and then disappear.

They definitely were not fireworks and not a plane or helicopter and it was to high up in the sky to be a boat.

If you saw these same lights or if you know what they might be leave a message.

My family and I were at the boardwalk and saw them same thing. Tonight we r staying up in cherry grove and saw the same thing. After the lights dissapeared tonight we what looked like to be two different sets of fighter jets fly around in that direction.

I saw them too! I was in Oak Island, NC and was sitting on my porch looking out over the ocean in the direction of Myrtle (Oak Island faces south, btw). First I saw two lights, then later I saw one, and later another one. They didn't move around at all, they just appeared and then faded away. I have no idea what they were but I'm convinced they weren't airplanes since they didn't move. Very strange!

My wife and I saw them too! Except we seen the same thing that Tuesday about the same time around 9:30-10:00. We were on vacation, and glad to know other people seen the same thing. And I do believe flares fall back to the ground not hover in the same place.

I agree with you. If it was flares there would have been some type of visual trail of them going up or coming back down.

John...did you just see them tonight? I saw four of them tonight. They kind of blinked on, one at a time, and then blinked off one at a time, and I never saw them again...

around 9:00 - 9:07 I was on Ocean Boulevard at Forest Dunes Resort and on the patio deck outside...looked up and saw 4 red lights in the sky over the ocean in a sideways diamond-like position (diamond on playing cards)...and in a few seconds the farther one on the right dissappeared, then the others followed suit then never saw them again.

We are staying around 70th/71st North Myrtle and saw the lights last night from our balcony @ approx 10:30p.  Strangest thing we have seen.  There appeared to be three lights and each one turned off and on a few timed. Tonight around the same time we were waiting to see if they appeared again   They did but were more northerly.  There was a bit of overcast so visibility was not that good.  They appeared to blink on then blink off and the lights were red.  Not a plane or flares. The lights also appeared to change positions rapidly or else they were turning off and on lights around it's perimeter.

I saw four red lights in the sky in wills point Texas on July 3, 2011. They were in a column at first then they started changing formation into a triangle and one in the back, like a parallelagram of sorts. Then they slowly disappeared one by one. My whole family witnessed it. If we hadn't seen it ourselves... We would not have been inclined to believe all the uproar... Similar to what has been happening all over the world!

I saw one last night from the Apache Pier. They look like some type of Japanese Lantern. A balloon like lantern with a lit candle. That is what it looked like from here and it looked like it was released from a hotel window...
