Extremely well said.....kudos...<quoted text>
People make their own lot in life. Their lives are the sum of the choices that they make. You ask IMHO how they got the time to get an education. The question is good, but you sarcastic innuendo was that they are somehow privileged to have more hours in the day or days in the week than someone else.
You say we look down our noses at people and rail on IMHO and others who post on Topix as being pompous and arrogant when they say that the road to prosperity, the same road that they have traveled, is hard work and wise choices. You seem to be a champion for those less fortunate, although most of the time I think itís your hatred for those who have more than others more than your compassion for those less fortunate that ignite your responses. But t Iíll assume that you care and ask you this. What exactly have you actually done to help the people that you view as downtrodden? You say that you are not one who is less fortunate, so do you open your door to those who are and give them shelter? Do you give them your money, your time, your food? Do you share with them the things that you learned that brought you prosperity? Do you do anything other than sit at your computer and condemn those who have succeeded?

Yes. I do take the time to help. To volunteer. To give. To teach. I only respond to what is presented here. If what is presented is arrogance, then I respond in kind. What upsets me are people who act as if what happens in THEIR life is the norm and that for anything else to be happening, then it must be the fault of the people caught in the middle of the shitstorm. THAT IS ARROGANCE. It makes assumptions about people that simply aren't true. Folks who manage to find success in life are often blessed with a head start at some point, be it where they are born, what family they are born into, or some other fortunate event in their lives. It is those who manage to find success DESPITE these fortunate advantages that are the exception to the rule. The problem is that those who had that fortune don't even realize they have it, and view those who don't as being 'lazy' or some other disparaging description. And when they are called on it, then they turn their indignant attitude towards those who pointed this simple fact out to them. Hence your large reply that fails to address the situation and instead questions MY ethics and values and what I have done. They make ridiculous claims of jealousy and hatred of those who have 'more'. This is Denial 101 and you should be looking in a mirror instead of asking me what I have done. Some of us don't base a person's worth on how much crap they own or how much money they make.
