Director Jadell Souders proposed that the district look into adopting a policy that prohibits visible tattoos and unorthodox piercings on staff members.
President Ed Gardener told her that restricting the appearance of staff members presents legal issues

Are you kidding me......Isn't there supposed to be a dress code for the students? Put a dress code in place for the teachers. This shouldn't be a difficult concept.

I am not so sure that Mr. Gardner is right on this one. It seems that people in many occupations have to cover up piercings and tattos in the workplace. Why not at ELCO???

Seriously, can people find ANYTHING else to blast teachers for???? Get a life...a nose piercing or a tattoo has absolutely NOTHING to do with a person's ability to teach children.

I think it would be wise to take the $42,000 now rather than hold out and hope it goes up. If the economy rebounds, that amount will go down. I don't think the risk is worth the reward.

Rather than trying to embarrass and belittle the owner of Samsco Ventures with his body language and his “What happens if you get hit by a bus” comment, it would have been nice if Howard Kramer would have explained why he lead the district into so much debt during such hard economic times. I hope the voters remember that come election day.

Are you kidding me.....of course it has nothing to do with the ability of a teacher, but aren't teachers supposed to be professional. What is professional about a tattoo or piercing that is visible because of dress?

I would love for you to walk threw elco classes and tell me how many look like "freaks" as you say. I'd be willing to bet that there are only a handful of teachers that have a visible tattoo. and what type of piercings will and won't be allowed. the only visible i can think of is nose...and i don't see anything wrong with a little stud nose piercing.

Another part of the meeting that I found very interesting is when Howard Kramer was asked how he knew about the unpublicized board meeting last Monday. Mr Kramer mumbled almost inaudibly that he "heard it through the grape vine". It was the first time I've ever seen him all but speechless.

Apparently the "grape vine" doesn't extend to all of the candidates. Hey Jack, you have my email address, and my number's in the book!

So, the lease of the M-Town school will generate $260K. How much will it cost to get rid of the lead paint? Is the lease for only 1 yr.? Elco is holding on to 2 nice peices of real estate. Even though the market is down right now, why aren't these properties being put up for sale in light of the current deficit? The sale of these would go a long way to help reduce this. I know..I know...people want to hang on these for various reasons, but just as with a church, the building doesn't make the congregation, the people do. Same w/ Elco, the citizens of the communities make up the quality of the district, not the two old school buildings. Get rid of them before they require too much upkeep & their values go down further.

Were they ever appraised? They worth something to someone. A contractor a few years ago turned an elem. school on Robesonia into very nice apts.

Take a deep breathe and look around at this circus. The write in candidate is a joke. Tattoos are being discussed is this by the mad lady note taker. Did you ever see that show? I say vote for HK , he is balanced and cares about the school and the big picture. The show can go on but without the clown. Teachers deserve respect and higher pay increases, good for their retirement plan. They made a great choice and just think they need to teach the clowns in a class. Heck they deserve more money for dealing with these idiots when they were youngsters.

Read over the quote above.
Pick out the words HK frequently uses in conversation or when he's addressing the public.

It's a good thing she takes so many notes since the PAID secretary does such a crappy job.

"HK" and "balanced" do not belong in the same sentence. Same with "community" and "ambulance association".

She has to take so many notes because she can't use a computer unless someone is there to assist her. Come'on Jadell get with the real world, but then again you and your husband are now enjoying your retirement at the expense of taxpayers. Also maybe the president should take some bullying classes and share them with his son since the recent charges against him..http://www.pennlive.com/m idstate/index.ssf/2011/04/leba non_teen_charged_with_drop.htm l

Then we also have the other board member who really should resign what is this board coming to?

She's supposed to type away at the board meeting??? The board secretary writes his minutes and then gives them to a district employee to type. What's your excuse for him? Or are you just glad he's there to be your mole?
