Ghosts of the McBride House

Full story: News on 6 Tulsa

Just up the street from historic Fort Gibson you'll find the McBride house. The house was built in 1895 and although it's now closed for a sorely needed renovation, it was once a magnificent showplace.

THIS BOOK IS WORTH PICKING UP!!! Everything that Cindy has written and said in this interview is without a doubt TRUE!!! I Myself have even seen one of them Myself, so do Yourself a favor and buy the book, and just read what the Back Family have been dealing with over their 25+ years dwelling in Dr. McBride's prized Home, that as She says, is not ready to leave...

I visited this house once and someone whispered in my ear. I turned around and it was my wife, but it was still scary.

I think Old Man McBride used his house as a meth lab back in the 1860's and all the ghosts are dead junkies coming back looking for a fix.

Billy Joe, you are funny. Dead junkies, he he.

Seriously, I think this woman had alot of guts to stay in that house for 25yrs. I don't care how peaceful they were; if it were me, I'd be hauling ass out the door the first time I heard it. I like the subject of haunings though. I think it would be great to get a job as a ghost hunter. It would be a cool and fun career. Just imagine your kid going back to school to tell about their experience at, "take your kid to work day". Does anyone know if ghosthunting pays well?

I truly enjoyed the book. I bought it today and could not put it down til I was done. I was captivated. Now I am determined to go and see this magnificent house for myself. I have had one ghostly encounter before and I am hoping to get a better one than I had.

The house is incredible. It really does need some love though. It's going to rot into the ground if somebody doesn't save it. Maybe money from the book can go into restoring the home.

The family has only been out of the house for two years? Why does it look like no one has lived there in 30 years?

I stayed in this house as a teenager before the Back's bought it , and I remember several instances where things would happen , You always knew there was someone there weather you could see them , hear them or feel them you knew they were there. I remember all the tv's upstairs coming on after you exited the house and shut the front door and reached the bottom step of the front porch, also I remember you couldn't keep a hair brush they disappeared everytimr you set one down. I never felt scared , I was sorry to see that Cindy , Chris and the kids had to sell and leave their house but maybe now the historical society will back off and not be so strict in the restoration of this at one time beautiful house, and to the sceptics , I know it to be true , and everytime we drive by my grandkids and I will always say goodnight to all who live there

Dr. McBride is my great uncle. I've never been inside the home but I have spoke with Cindy. I did skim through the book at the bookstore and it looks to be interesting. I myself founded my own paranormal team years ago. So...you just never know. Maybe Uncle isn't ready to leave.

I have seen the McBride house, it's not b.s. to sell a book. I saw the kids in the yard while walking with my friend, she swore nothing was there. The victorain lady? In the window when I was at Fort Day with my brother, he didnt see her either. I have yet to see McBride or hear his parties but I'm not crazy enough to go stand by someones house at night like a fricken stalker She's not lying, keep that crap to yourself, please.

The book was absolutely wounderful! I ended up reading it in one day , my cousins live in Ft.Gibson and have tried to take to the old house. But im not to for sure how to take Mr. McBride. He might not take to kindly of us being there.

I have lived in fort gibson my entire life and have only been inside the house once. Needless to say nothing too strange happend it is about as creepy as any other old victorian type home. Also the word around town was that Dr. Back and his family was very strange and constantly diagnosed with some type of illness it was said that the house may have had something to do with it. I dont know if it is stated in the book but Mr. Back was our town "doctor". He wasnt very gentle with that needle either...
