"The Alpena's Nameboard Washes Ashore"

"But it wasn't until 29 years later that the Alpena truly gave up her last ghost. In an ironic twist of fate, on Saturday, January 16, 1909, the side-wheel nameboard of the steamer Alpena was found at “Alpena Beach”, a beach near Holland, Michigan."

Isn't that AMAZING! The nameplate from the paddle wheel of a steam ship, huh? And it has the SAME NAME as the town we live in! OMG!

You inbreds are so easily impressed and amused.

It is rather bothersome that with all there is going on in this world worthy of comment, a steamship's misfortune is big news to some. I bet if we look hard enough we could find a 1907 fender bender involving a Model T and an Alpena Flyer! Wouldn't that be marvelous!

Joseph Kearns, the actor who played Mr. Wilson on the popular 50's TV show "Dennis The Menace" was from Alpena and he named the dog on the show "Freemont" after Alpena's original name!

I heard Al Lewis (Grandpa from The Munsters TV series) once lived in Posen and made references to it on the show. A lot of famous and successful people came from this area!
