our family checked out this community this weekend. You get a lot of nice amenities with your house - pool, clubhouse, lake. But the surrounding area to the west didn't look so good. This is in the city of Romoland. I had never heard of it before. The neighborhood we are looking at would be on the edge of the neighborhood. Does anyone know about Romoland? Is there a lot of crime? Have you heard good things about the lake??? I would appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
My daughter lives in homeland it's low income working class people she has lived there for about 7 years no problem s , her mother inlaw lives in heritage lake also no problems

My family and I are looking to purchase a house in Heritage Lake. I notice everyone else talks about other issues but I don't see anyone talking about the GE power plant just two or three miles away from Heritage Lake. Does anyone know anything about this power plant? I was reading in the web the school district had a lawsuit against building the plant. Also in the city which we reside now they tried to build one here and there was a lawsuit and they were not able to buil it. I just want to make sure is safe to buy a house around there. My concern is all the chemicals in the air coming from this power plant.

We bought our house here in heritage lake in march 2013. It is a quiet area but terrible HOA they control what you can do on your backyard, the approval to modify your backyard is worst than getting a loan ,everytime you go to the office they have different rules whoever you meet and once you finish your modification, they have to inspect it make sure you follow the plan, and this is your freaking back yard. I had HOA before but these is the worst i have been to, they should just worry the front yard and not the backyard. they are so meticulous with the homeowners but up to now we dont even see street sweepers. They told us the rules on the yard had changed and we have to follow the guidelines and my friend who bought in another community with different HOA doesn't even have any issues like that. No wonder there are a lot of houses for sale here. If you wanna buy a house and wants freedom of fixing your yard ,do not buy here, the builder told us different when we bought our house if we knew this ,we will never move here. Looking forward to sell this house .

Oh, and to all you folks just now moving into Heritage Lakes & Heritage Valley, you might want to do some reading up on the topic of sludge. Here is a Google search for sludge menifee...

All of the farm fields in Menifee, Winchester, Romoland, Homeland, have been fertilized with sludge, which is treated human feces. That stuff used to get shipped here from OC. That entire Heritage Lakes development sits on a farm field where human excrement was used to grow crops.
No you're wrong, it's not true. I work for a company that advertises for Heritage Lakes homes & I think it's a nice community.

There is no sludge. The two Matelko nuts that have been spouting all the sludge hysteria were told to put up or shutup by the Mayor of Menifee. They never produced any proof (duh) because they have no proof. Heritage Lake is a nice area. Certainly nicer than the run down drug infested surrounding areas. These people that continue to talk about sludge need to find a different cause-the sludge issue is finished.

Went to visit this community this past weekend, very disappointed in the staff and most importantly the management. The entire staff was rude and very unprofessional. This totally turned me off from wanting to invest in a home.

We live in H. L and on the other side away from Romoland. I will recommend buying over here....that side does get some crime from that area for sure.

I do not think it should be an issue. We have 2 dogs and a cat. Try to buy a corner lot...bigger back yard.

Heritage Lake is a nice development, but falls within an unicorporated area. Heritage Lake in NOT within the proposed map for Menifee Valley city incorporation. I'd think local services would be better met in this new city rather than the Riverside County board.

ABSOLUTELY OPPOSITE. Stay OUT of the city limits in Riverside County. Better community advocacy & services and MUCH lower taxes are found in the county areas. This is especially true in Hemet whose illiterate, ignorant citizens voted in another >1% city tax this year (FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS!!), supposedly to help law enforcement. Do they even wonder WHY this valley now has the highest crime rate, highest number of foreclosures and RESULTING SQUATTER POPULATION in the County, likely the State if not the country? How about NOT taking kickbacks from the State Prisons who, despite decades of protests from residents, Chamber of Commerce, and other local community advocacy groups, PAY TO DUMP PAROLEES HERE UPON RELEASE? But all the city keeps doing (anyone auditing them??) is buying new police vehicles from Gisela Gosch (didn't she used to be mayor or something? Man, so rotten I can smell it), all of which sit empty in various city parking lots, rather than those funds actually going to man the cars with QUALIFIED officers...what a mismanagement crock of crap! I haven't seen such nauseatingly corrupt nepotism since The Teamsters. Stay away from these little sundown towns in Riverside County; if you don't get lynched, you'll regret ever stepping foot in this "Valle."

Hey i was wondering what type of negative issues you knew about The Teamsters? The reason i ask is because i recently became a member a few months back and i thought they were a good/strong union
