You have apparently never dealt with many elderly people. A lot of people as they grow old gradually revert to a kind of child-like thinking. it has nothing to do with their intelligence. It has to do with what age does to the human brain. The television preachers know that and aim to take advantage of those people.
Sadly, this is true for many elderly people. It pays big dividends to keep your mind and body active, but there are no guarantees.

So people killed in war can't be bigots? How am I an ingrate for pointing out that people in the middle of the 20th century did have some moral failings, just like there are some young men and women with fine moral character who were only recently laid under those military headstones.

The Nazi's were kinder to most Jews than some crackers in Mississippi were to 14 year old Emmet Till, whom an all white jury acquitted I suppose because of their "good moral fiber". Sorry if remembering that people in the middle 20th century could be douchebags makes me an ingrate.

But you want to talk about ingrates? Imagine what one of the one million African Americans that fought in WWII thought when they came back from war to see German POWs treated better than they were. You stupid tool.

As a percentage or their population, more native Americans enter the military than any other race/ethnic group in the US.

You must have missed all of that debate. Rates and percentages don't matter, it is only the total number that counts, at least on the Murray Topix board.

Let's see, my original post, I think I said majority. Anyone so learned as yourself should know that doesn't include everybody. Now I was stating an opinion, then you come along and jump all over it like s o s. So I will rephrase the last sentence in the first reply, it will read as follows; you stupid ass ingrate. Now is that better?

Yes, and the corollary of what you were saying is that the majority of people today are lacking in "strong moral fiber", and I just don't think that people now are that much different when you look under the surface of things.

I believe I only offered my own opinion to which YOU came a long and called me a "smart ass ingrate", because apparently defeating Nazi Germany and imperial Japan excuses a whole generation of people for supporting things like segregation.

I'm a topix bully? You are the one who went straight to "smart ass ingrate" just because I suggested people in the middle of the 20th century might not be as morally pure as you suggested. You are the one who started with the name calling. You are the one who can't tolerate opposing viewpoints.

One does not get bullied merely by having someone disagree with them.

I've read many, many of your posts. The main theme to all of them is this. You are hellbent on giving the majority of the people involved in the discussion, a good ole, I am smarter, more articulate than you, old fashioned non-verbal ass whooping. At some point your overbearing aggression becomes obvious. You are a topix bully. Makes us wonder where you're really insufficient, one thing exacerbates another.

If you can't tell the difference in AKT and me, then you really should get some help with reading comprehension. We write nothing alike. I generally agree with AKT and I think he's pretty sharp, but it's no trick to tell which is which. And for the record, yeah, AKT is smarter than most of the people on Topix, but that's hardly a trick.

Why does the term chickabee come to mind, when I see you two sweethearts drool over each other. The only trick to it is, you got to remove your heads from each others ass, where we can have some facial recognition. I wondered when Jim Dandy would be to the rescue. Wasn't long, was it?

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to SHARE this on Facebook or forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person SHARES this on Facebook or contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message.
