How can people expect teachers to have morals and be upstanding citizens when the wonderful superintendent at Calloway is sleeping with employees at the board office and bringing his girlfriends to games. He the real problem and the reason good Christian people, like Mr. McCallon are leaving the system. The board members need to wake up, realize they made a mistake and fire the idiot.

I recently was told about North school letting 5 teachers go because of lack of funding yet putting over 35 kids in each class. That is over state regulation number of kids per class room. Yet at the same time they hired a 'weight lifting' coach at the high school & paying him a teachers salary. Where is the district priorities here? Very very sad. Also they let go more educated & experienced teachers & keep fresh 1st year teachers cause they don't cost as much. That is so wrong. Opinions?
I can’t speak to the issue regarding North Elementary. However, I can speak to the Cronyism and Nepotism in the Calloway County School system. Case in point, a few years ago the school systems director of transportation position came open. One of the individuals who applied was a current bus driver who had been there about 10 years. Now this is the part that really gets interesting. The driver in question is a retired Master Sergeant with the Army’s prestigious 101st Airborne Division who held leadership positions from squad leader to interim Battalion Command Sergeant Major. He was a combat soldier for his entire army career including service as a Drill Sergeant. His last three years prior to retirement he was responsible for over 400 soldiers and a multi-million dollar budget. Now it even gets better; he holds an Associate Degree, Bachelors Degree, and just recently completed his Masters.

My point is the system is broken, the former and current transportation directors couldn’t hold a candle to this individual. However, because of Cronyism and Nepotism these individuals were hired. Nether of these gentlemen hold any formal education, or come close to the level of supervision and responsibility that the Master Sergeant has,“Education Pays” Right????? Unfortunately, the system suffers because we allow this type of hiring practices to occur.

I pray that those in charge will someday wake up and do the right thing!!!!!

That statement alone, makes YOU look more like a trashy redneck than any of the kids at North, East or Southwest.

Okay, that is idiotic! There is no way a school can go against state regulations on classroom size. Not to mention they have two other elementary schools to send kids. It sounds like a teacher got fired at North and is trying to spread crap. Oh, and everyone complains about Calloway not being able to compete and then they hire a coach to help with athletics and now they are wanting him not to be able to feed his family. Then, they will let him go and people will complain that Calloway is not doing everything they can to compete with the big schools. Back to the teacher or teachers that got cut, they will probably have the same amount of teachers next year, you just won't be one of them.
FYI- The "strength and conditioning coach" is a certified health and PE teacher PLUS a national accredited strength and conditioning specialist (that means he seriously knows what he is doing and your child is less likely to be injured). SO actually its a BONUs, you're getting two for the price of one. AND there is a health and PE teacher retiring at the high school.

Wow, with a BONUS like that, we may need to fire some more classroom teachers that will teach our children stupid stuff like, math, science, reading, etc.

What kills me is that some of the PE teachers have pot-bellies! Maybe we should get rid of them!

Yes I agree, the Retired Master Sergeant would have been the only choice however, another hiring injustice made by qualified educators, what irony!!!!!!!

Anybody know whatever happened to Mike Johnson the former Calloway County Transportation Director? Heard he has been politicking trying to get hired back in the school system as a director or supervisor of a department.

I forgot about that little incident of stealing gas!!!! Lol!!!! What a loser, he is a prime example of how someone with very little skills, zero education coupled with knowing a former school Superintendent got him a well paying job.

The same is for the current Transportation Director Futrell nice guy but dumb as a rock. Johnson along with Steve Hoskins, Brian Wilmurth, and Randy McCallon made darn sure that Futrell got the job regardless of his qualifications or education. What a poor excuse for human beings, they should have done the right thing and hired the most qualified for that position. This type of behavior has been going on at Calloway for years. The elected school board members in my opinion are just apathetic, stupid, or accustomed to believing everything they are told.

Wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!

Ashley you are obviously an uneducated fool! There are just as many rednecks at Murray as Calloway. This is western Kentucky don't forget. It's pretty much full of them.

Personally I have a job but many are having a hard time these days since corporations are setting up shop in other countries that have fewer labor laws so they can pay pitiful wages.
Toney thou you talk a good game you are miss informed, or are trying to mislead people. I know for a fact that what you say is wrong. Perfect example is the Samsung corp. the factory workers (assemblers) in there Michigan plant earn 15.50 pr hr. the same workers in Korea earn 15.25 pr hr. it’s the hi regulation and tax load that drives them out of the US. Sorry to tell you son but the US now has the highest corporate tax rate in the world! Think about it, if you where a company that sold to the whole world would you not build at the cheapest place?

I know a lady who was very good at job and loved her childerm , she drove a hour free each day ( for over 10 yrs), for the school distant .
To make along story short , she had a accident ,& she got hurt . And Hoskins & Johnson lied to cover their butts .. Her spot was terminated for she wouldnt tell the turth . She was honest , trustworthy, very good with her children treat them with love , respect.
But she fought a good fight & survived .
