I did my practicum at CMS, and had never been so sickened in my life, when I stood at the librarian's table, and a little boy came up to buy a poster from the book fair. The poster cost five dollars, and he had $4.50 in quarters.
The librarian said to him,'You didn't have any money this morning, where did you come up with it?' The child said he had dug around in his backpack until he had found enough change. The librarian said,'Well, you need fifty more cents.'
The two assistants, who might have been in eighth grade (the boy was probably in sixth, and you could tell he didn't come from much, and had obviously bummed quarters from people), laughed, and one said,'Maybe you should dig around in your backpack and find two more quarters.'
The boys cackled at this child, and were so proud of themselves. Poor boy just stood there, humiliated. What really sickened me, though, was that the librarian cackled like a witch, too. THEN, she has the audacity to look at me so I could join in, too, and all she was met with was a cold, hard glare.
She and the kids immediately shut up when they saw how mad I was, and she gave the boy a poster from the previous book club for free. Had I had two quarters, or even five dollars, on me, I would have given the boy what he needed to get his poster. I had never been so sick in my life for anyone, that a TEACHER would chime in on this bullying. I look back and wish I had said something more to let him know that I was on his side.
So, the bullying problem will never be addressed without full teacher support. I did tell my supervisor, and I am not sure that anything was done, and even though the librarian and assistants got my point, I really wish I had done a greater service to this child. I, of all positions, was a counseling student. Bullies make my skin crawl. I work for DJJ now, and the kids that skip school or are charged with assault are generally the victims of bullying. This system is broken. They look to adults for help, and they either get cackled at, like the librarian did, or ignored, like I did. Lesson learned.
This story breaks my heart. I can't imagine how that child felt. It's bad enough that the 2 boys bullied him, but also the librarian. She should have been reported and fired. I wish I could have been there, I would have told all 3 of them exactly what I thought and then drug that librarian to the principal's office. However, from what I hear the principal isn't any better. I'm just speechless.

Yeah, I'm speechless to see so many sheep who believe whatever anonymous jerks say on the internet about professional people who are doing tough jobs well.

Then state your name. Nothing to worry about if it's true.

Wait a minute. I know who you are. Your the one who was caught in the boys bathroom exposing yourself aren't you? Yeah, Ms Turner just let that slide on by. I see what you mean about her.

See how easy that is?

Why don't you state your name? You are all over topix, not just Murray and all you do is insult people. My kids went to Calloway Middle and this has been a problem for a long time. Apparently you are close to Ms. Turner and do not want her exposéd. Parents who now have kids there, call channel 6 and report middle school abuse. They will definitely check it out and bring attention to it.

I can tell you....you are not alone. It is a system wide problem. The teachers are protected, period. Going to frankfort...does not work. I tried. I could tell you stories of abuse that would make your head spin..but doing that on topix, is only counter productive. There is no place for students with special needs or IEPS in that system. Bullying, teacher harrasment, abuse, making parents of special needs parents feel less than... and all in the need for the system to control....it's very very true. You are not alone.

Seems like the same old problem. I had a child with special needs. My issues happened in the 90's. They would not listen to me and I went to a meeting and pulled her out of special needs program. It was funny how they all tried to tell me how retarded she was. I mainstreamed her in with the other population. The administrators were so made at me there were seven of them in the meeting and one of me but I knew my rights and the rights of my child. The school system will not tell you but they get so much extra money for special needs children. Anyway, my child has her Master's Degree is is working on a doctorary degree. And she has a good job. So much for educators who think they know everything. My advise is be an advocate for your child. You know your child and don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise. Not to mention she was also bullied in school. Wow, I pray for each parent and child.Same stories different era.

ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY THEY GET THE SAME...its about Miss turner over looking so many children she should have been protecting instead of scaring.....what good does it do for some of us parents to teach non violence and to take problems to adults if the adults are going to come after and berate and make things worse for the child already being bullied....how is that solving anything.....it would be nice if bullies had to go to anger mgt and drag miss turner with them......the women is out for just plain hurt...school is suppose to be a great positive enviroment ...even if you dont have alot of money ...its time for people to step up and start caring about the children being harmed and make life better at school not harder and scarier for them.....sometimes its takes a village to raise a child ..wish miss turner would see that.....children dont ask to be brought up in poor communities but we as a community and i hope good honest small town Christians or just plain honest nice people that care about children's futures, have the opportunity to help these children have just a little bit of happiness and learn with dignity.....and above all respect and safety ...not have it brushed under the rug for making the problem known....lets deal with it and make it better for our children and parents feel safe dropping our kids off at CCMS and know they will be safe and learn and be happy children there!

No, no government forced any bank to make a single bad loan. On the contrary, the big banks had been fighting for reduced regulation for decades, and they got it. They made bad loans knowing that when they went bad, the taxpayers would have to bail them out. That is exactly what happened. Capitalism for the working stiff, but socialism for the wealthy bankers. It was a total lack of regulation that led to the greedfest.
Horseshit! No the gov didn't force the banks to make bad loans they enabled them to do so Frank Dodd act. equal housing etc.

Is Ms. Turner the librarian? Why was she in the boys' bathroom? I don't even know the librarian's name, and no motive to post other than bullies are paid with our tax dollars to harass kids, and its very disturbing. Librarian didn't look like the most popular kid in school, whatever her name was. But, if I were going to make something up about someone I only had one exchange with, surely I'd do a better job than this, and make myself the hero.

Me....state my name? I'm not the one slandering people who are trying to do their job. I'm just pointing out that you are listening to people tell what evil teachers/principals are at the middle school without them even being willing to sign their name. No guts, no glory. Just go home.

There is 0 proof that this woman as done any of these things. 0.
If you feel something is happening to your child go to Office Depot and get a digital voice recorder turn it on in the morning and send your child to school.
Have them record everything. Everything. If this woman is acting this way you will have proof in a few days.
Otherwise what you are saying is hearsay. Maybe a little libel.
If my child had ever had any problem, she never as and I am by no means rich. I only make around 37k a year. Never any problem at all. Ever. If there was even a hint of it I would get proof and have this person out.
At the very least hire a lawyer. File a police report. But bitching on topix with stories and no proof. Looks more like clueless parents upset that their children aren't in the in crowd or so out of touch they fail to see that their children are trouble makers.
Ya think?
