The lady was with a group of other woman from out of town. Since the other ladies crossed with no problem she must have been trying to beat the traffic.

I feel sorry for all involved, but the smarter choice would have been to drive across to the restaurant especially if you were going to be finishing your meal after dark.

I think everyone should stop pointing fingers and accusing people until you know the whole story. Instead, why not pray for all involved?

Am I the only one who was taught to look both ways before crossing the street? I hate that she got hit, but I feel sorry for the person who hit her. There is no stoplight there, no crosswalk, and definitely not the best lighting. It doesn't matter how careful of a driver you are, it would be difficult to see someone at night crossing the street right there. The speed limit doesn't need to be lowered, people just need to use common sense.
Common sense says that the higher the rate of speed, the greater the chance of a fatality. Statistics back that up. It takes more than common sense to cross a 5 lane road. It takes lots of care and good spacial qualities, something that a certain percentage of the population are short on.

The young man who hit her is about to loose his mind with anguish. He had his wife and baby in the truck with him. He never saw her she was dressed in black and if you see the truck you can tell it was totally an accident. According to law enforcement, the man was not at fault. She came out of no where. The driver's wife is a Registered Nurse and jumped out of truck to help administer treatment until help arrived. If that had been me I would have been in such shock I would have needed treatment. In case the thought is hanging around, the gentleman volunteerly submitted to Drug and Alcohol test.
My sister died being hit by a car, the man that hit her was not at fault. He ended up having a nervous break down. I have often wanted to reach out to him and see how he is doing. I can't imagine how hard it must be for him, or this family. Prayers for all involved. As far as 641 at Tom's Grill, I too pay attention, but I believe from the truck stop down in to town the speed should be reduced to 45.

I have always believed that it was somewhat asinine to have several, frequent stop lights just outside of Murray paired with the 55MPH speed limit. A large margin here for fuckups and accidents. I agree that the speed limit should be lowered, but I don't know why someone would find it to be a good idea to run across a highway at nighttime anywho. I say just take it as a lesson learned until the city feels like taking its thumb out of its ass and doing something.

Does it make you feel like a big man to use the profanity you are using. Can you not carry on a normal conversation.

they didn't mention it in the ledger, but then we can't expect them to enlighten us on the real news.

theledger didn't release any names but the victim was leaving a bar and grill and you autmatically assume the driver was drunk

I have a friend that was working at Tom's when it happened. The lady wasn't drinking either. She was with a group of women from an out of town Eastern Star Order.

Sorry, but you are wrong. You are speculating at best. Please wait until the police report is finished.

Well I think they should put a stoplight and a crosswalk up. To you people that call her stupid she was from out of town so she didn't know the area very well. And to the person that hit her I mean I really don't know what to think on that they could have been texting or even talking on their cell phone not paying attention. Don't put it all off on the person that got hit because I used to walk this town before I got a car and let me tell you what I have had so many people almost hit me cuz they was talking on their cell phone or texting. And the way people drive in Murray is rediculous. Besides maybe the lady wanted to get some fresh air and go eat because she had been driving all day to get here did you ever think of that.? And to the person that said he was wearing black I mean do you truely jknow this or was that just a rumor you heard? And that truck looked like he hit a telephone pole so I know he was over the speed limit on top of usually when you hit something or someone they roll onto the windshield so ya he was driving way too fast. People do walk so you can't even look down on people that like to get fresh air.

I wonder how many of you have ever seen a car that hit a person? How on earth would you know what it should look like.

Even when I go out of town, I know not to cross a five lane road on foot. I'm glad the lady is recovering, but it seems like everyone likes blaming the driver, instead of being real with themselves, and chalking it up to poor judgement by the woman.
