"Bargo said he has requested help from the city budget through a letter to Mayor Bill Wells, asking for $40,000 to help finance school resource officers in the coming term."
We have a school system here in the city. We pay for that school system. I see no reason that the people of Murray should pay for the hill people of CC's kids to have an officer. For all I care they can play duck duck shoot with each other. It's bad enough we will have to pay for them and their kids to be on welfare, I don't want to pay for their officer as well. If they want one pass a damn tax for the CC trash outside of Murray.

Because it is true. Look at all the posts from white trash about CCSS. Anyone that matters sends their children to MISD.

All children deserve a chance in life, including an Education...There are good kids in all the school.. kids in both schools that may have struggles ..We never know what some of them go through day to day.I have G-children in Murray and Calloway and they all are good kids..We should help them instead of putting them down

Um, take a look at the inmate list at Calloway county jail. Just about all the young people, from this area, that are behind bars graduated from Murray high. How many times were there drug busts at Murray high? Multiple !!! Know that for a fact. Students from Murray stealing from there school, not Calloway, Murray. So, though I graduated from Murray, your comments are stupid. There's troubled kids at all schools but when you figure the size of Murray I think their statistics are considerably higher than the average school. On top of all this, how about the hundreds of thousands misd stole from Calloway county school system ? Guess you can't expect a lot from your students when the entire school system gets caught for theft !!!

Let's see, in fiscal year 2012, your stand alone, elitist school ( in your opinion) got $5,575,862.00 in state aid. Now Calloway county is 53% rural. Either there's not anyone in the county paying state taxes or you're getting benefits for your school from outside your precious limits. Which is it smart a$$?

Here is an idea, use the tax money of the 500+ kids that go to Murray but live in the county. Better yet, use the couple million that sit in Frankfort because both superintendents are so stubborn they won't give the other a dime. Last suggestion, sell booze in the county. There are good and bad kids at both schools.

That OP is certainly an angrytard douche nozzle, but to be fair shouldn't you also consider how much state aid Calloway received and compare that in proportion to population and income level between the county and Murray? The county district would need to receive less than $6,287,674 (if my calculations and your numbers are correct) for their to be a disparity in terms of population alone.

I don't know what that number is, but it's an incomplete comparison in itself.

Watch it AKT. You'll have the county residents mad because they can't vote for the city school board. It will be like the liquor debates all over.

I didn't jump out the taxpayer airplane door without a parachute, all the while screaming it's my airplane, go get your own. I would guess the monetary breakdown would be per student if the state has a fair policy.

It's because Calloway has 100 city kids in the system. If the county services them then they should get their part of the beer money set aside for school safety.

A few years back CCHS emphatically insisted that they not be annexed into the city limits. That would seem to speak for itself.

If it speaks for itself, what's it saying? Is it English? Seems like everybody the city wants to annex has "emphatically insisted that they not be annexed into the city limits", even when the city has run water and sewer lines to their house. Seems to me, it speaks to the fact they didn't want to be on the hook for Murray property taxes, just like everybody else who has tried to insist.

County schools can go to hell. I pay both city and county taxes living within the city. And people who live in the county only pay county taxes.

So if the county school needs money, get it from them.

In fiscal year 2012, the MISD got $3,620,000.00 in property tax and other taxes. Their total revenue in FY 2012 was $16,946,000.00 dollars. I don't remember seeing that many bake sales and car washes to generate $13,326,000.00 dollars that year. So your schools as well as other schools are getting helped by taxpayers not in the city limits, believe it or not.

Show me where the county residents pay city taxes.

Pray tell.
