Whatever happened to Froggy Fest? This year they took it to the HD place in Paducah and could only afford Confederate Railroad.

I'm thankful for stations who still care about Murray like 96.9, 94.7, and K98. I've seen K98 a lot lately around here. I will definitely be listening to them more.

Maybe Froggy should move their station to a town they care about, since they are no longer involved in our community here (Easter egg hunt? Hello?).

Froggy does not put on the concerts. The venue such as four rivers, foots the bill for the talent. They also pay froggy to advertise for them. No business in Murray wants to foot the bill for big talent to come here and froggy can't do it on their own without sponsorship!! Simple economics people!!

These are probably the same people standing around waiting on a handout from the gov. and everybody else.

There is truth to the sponsorship comment...Murray doesn't have a concert anymore because of Dottie Kramer and CCASAP. They ran off US Smokeless Tobacco and their 60K sponsorship with them.

I agree that you have to have sponsors in order to put on the concert, but it was never a problem in the past. I don't think that it's the economy. They have salespeople to gain sponsorships. Why are they not able to effectively do their jobs?

The OP mentioned the Easter egg hunt. Froggy has no community involvement anymore, and no presence. I would say that's why K98 is showing its face more locally. They are getting business from local retailers where Froggy can't. They sponsored part of Freedom Fest this year (the kid's zone), as did the double q and 96.9. I agree that it's sad that Froggy only put themselves in the parade.

Before being sold to Forever Communications (Froggy) the radio station was rock (WAAH & WBLN). Why does it matter what the employees listen to? The radio broadcasts the same thing to people all over the country (minus the bits about each town).

Joanna, you may want to check that. You said the venues pay for the talent, then who was paying when it was at the stadium? Froggy fronted that money and tried to make it back through sponsorships and ticket sales.

If they did away with that annoying excuse for a radio station, I'd be a little happier.

Sorry but I LOVE Froggy, I can understand why they didn't do the concerts this year. The last two years the storms came and ruined it all, and they along with their sponsors wasted the money. I wish they and Murray State would work hard to bring the big names to Murray in concert. It brings more money to this area, by bringing the bigger artists to Murray people will come from all over. I would LOVE for them to bring Keith Urban, Raschall Flatts, and of course Miranda Lambert back! Maybe a weekend concert at the lake each year, sorta like Bonaroo, but a country version. This area could use the money, and business!

US smokeless footed the bill for years, until they were no longer able to due to the concert being targeted to an audience that was not adult specific.

I used to work for WFGE, froggy 103.7. Was there on the first broadcast, March 17th, and left at the end of 1997.

Shitty pay, shitty bosses. Shitty radio. They used an antique board, crappy tape machines...just a bunch of crap.

Murry was a strange town. No entertainment for a 24 year old. Hence, I left.

So because you work at a country station, you're not allowed to like other genres? "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha" you close minded child. Not much common sense in that head of yours huh?
