Oh thank god salvation is sitting in the wings !!! Our own hometown hero is going to save hundreds of jobs and pull our struggling hospital back from the pits of hell !!! Lmao !!! He's probably a silent board member, truth be known !! Seriously, I hate it for the workers. They dedicate there lives to helping people only to be stepped on by a boards lousy decisions. I've no doubt MCCH will eventually be bought out. Sounds like the best possible scenario for all the employees. I paid over $400 for routine lab work in their outpatient lab. I went to the new clinic in town and paid less than $50 for the same lab work that was run thru lab corp. How can a business justify that? I don't blame Medicaid and private insurances for bucking on their prices. Had they charged reasonably I'm sure their work would have increased and they would have been paid by the insurance companies. A lot of greed in our small community. My prayers are out to the families impacted, hope they all find great, stable jobs. And for the CEO and board members, hope your losing sleep at night over all this although I highly doubt it.

I got fired from MCCH this past Feburary after 19 years, and there was nothing fair or just about it. I cared about the satisfaction of my patients and took pride in the fact that I got to know several of them over the years, and it made my day to know I had made someone feel better. MCCH used to put taking care of the patients first even when it meant paying the employees overtime when they stayed late to do this. But, greed, a new building, and bad business decisions in the midst of a faltering economy changed the order of things. NOW their priorites are Money, money and money. Overcharge the patient with a smile and to Hell with the employee!! The job I have now is very fast paced and keeps me on my toes but my co-workers and I are compensated VERY well for the work. Meanwhile MCCH employees are working their tails off for 5% less than before. I don't know how some people sleep at night

The only way to get some much unwanted attention to MCCH is for everyone who lost there job, me included to boycott the hospital and have an organized protest on poplar street right in front of the hospital..I already have over 100 peopl that are on board with this and if nothing else plan on having MCCH on the channel 6 news daily...They are going to very tired and nervous up front when this gets worse and never goes away..All the favoritism, lies, theft and kickback are all going to be exposed on the news for the whole community to see..Dept. heads and management beware.

Giving the dimwits in Washington something else to control, is digging the hole deeper. They can't manage what they have now. Any corporation or company that starts tanking like this. Shouldn't start at the bottom. They should start where the issues are the TOP.

Fire upper level management and go from there. The people who are getting let go. Are what keeps the machine running bye bye MCCH.

It's what happens when our society mindset becomes socialist.
Everyone feels entitled but we are not.
One of the major reasons the hospital is struggling is it furnishes care to those who can't pay unlike private hospitals.
MCCH has 3 types of patients. Those who can't pay, those the government tells what they will pay Medicare and Medicare and those who can pay with insurance.
Why are the costs high? The payers are the only patients who they can cover the other costs.
Sorry people lost their jobs. The hospital is not the federal government and can't print money.
Hope you won't boycott the hospital we need a good hospital

Well I don't know how many will actually get cut, but the word at the hospital is many lost their jobs due to job titles being done away with. In other words now there are coordinators taking long time employed people's jobs and they are going to somehow be reworking the system in order to cover departments where the heads have lost their jobs. A lot of good people have lost their employment due to MCCH expansion among other things. Unfortunately the MAN IN Charge and everyone knows who that is.. made some really bad decisions since he came to MCCH and now we are like the national debt. WE have biten off more than we can chew..

It is sad that the smoke screen being given the news media is just that a smoke screen and the employees have to suffer for his negligence

The media coverage was a joke. Whoever thought media would help solve the layoff issues doesn't truly understand the big picture. This is not a preventative measure like they made it sound, this is a hospital that doesn't know money management and tries to portray themselves as something they're not. Thus they build an addition that costs no telling how much, to prove what? That they are dumba**es. The board and administration might as well of taken food off of these employees tables when they started that expansion. I truly hate to believe that they could truly be so stupid that they couldn't balance a budget or realize that the addition was not in the budget. The 28 laid off this week aren't a drop in the hat compared to the whole they've dug for this county hospital. How many more lay offs to come?? All this while baptist healthcare, St. Francis and other hospitals can still afford television advertisement. Not all hospitals are hurting !! Mainly the ones that have made stupid decisions !!

What an a$$ thing to say. Do you really think that when we went to the polls, we thought, "Oh good, this will take care of my job that pays my bills and our children". We also lost our insurance.

Don't you think that we understood the possible consequences of Obama being re-elected? Most people who I talked to (that got laid off this AND last round) were not Obama supporters.

And as much as we would like for Obama to take all the blame, it simply cannot be completely placed on his shoulders. Did we really need the new south tower when we couldn't even keep the old north one full?? NO. And that wasn't Penner either.

So speaking of karma, I hope it bites YOU in the a$$ for being such a douche and so insensitive.

Because they over charged. They have another 4 million from private insurance companies outstanding as well because they are billing way over what they should be to make up for very shitty investments on the part of the board.
As for your shit about the rest of the u.s. yea. healthcare is broken. These companies have too much control. It's about time the government stepped in and took over completely. Save everyone money.
Yep we really need the government in charge since they are so good with saving money... NOT That's almost funny if it wasn't so stupid.

I working in the healthcare field and deal with insurance contracts. Little do most of you know, that insurance companies dictate the contracted rate of reimbursement. In most cases, it is lowered each year. For example, Item X is reimbursed at 600.00 but the cost is 580.00. So is it worth it to even provide the service when by the time operating costs are figured in the reimbursement is basically a loss. We are seeing this daily with your major health insurance companies such as Humana and Anthem. Many doctors, labs, hospitals, and medical supply companies are refusing to take customers with this insurance coverage. So, yes thanks to Obamacare, we will all have insurance but it will not be accepted anywhere and if you find a place it is accepted, then services won't a covered service. So basically, you have insurance but it won't cover a dang thing! Health care needs reform but I don't know the answers and I don't think anyone else does either. Most say let the government provide it. Well I've seen that too. We have so many people from Canada coming here for health coverage cause they cannot afford their share of the cost to get it...and it is triple of what US people are currently paying. I just hope everyone is saving for that raining day cause it is coming and if you don't have the funds...you will just go home a suffer without any care.
