What kind of small business could Murray use, one that would have an excellent chance of being profitable and please don't suggest a cat house.

I can tell you that it doesnt need another restaurant, cash advance, or gas station. In my opinion, one thing this town needs is a good book store. We have a used book store where you can trade in old ones for credit towards other used books and the Murray State University bookstore, which is primarily text books, but we dont really have a stand alone bookstore. It would be so nice to have something like a Barnes and Noble or Books a Million.

...On second thought, ever since buttercup left me, I do believe that I would rather have an escort service or a brothel right on the edge of town compared to a useless book store.

Restaurant wise, it would be nice to have a good Italian place (I don't mean pizza!), with a date atmosphere. Fast food would be a Chic-Fil-A (you said small business, but this would be a franchise). I know they are moving in a Zaxby's, but CFA would blow them off the map. Also, a frozen yogurt shop would do very well around campus.

I agree- no more banks or cash advance places.

Personally I think some go-cart tracks, and a paintball/air soft field would go over well. I never went into ricochets though and looked at what they had but I can safely assume it wasn't much seeing as how they lasted about a half a year or so.

I'd love to see a go-cart track within walking distance of Murray State. Howard Brandon's lot next to Backyard would be perfect. You could make a pretty good sized track out there and it would be within a very reasonable distance of MSU.

We had the Udderly Delicious place. That was more frozen custard though but it was amazing. From what I understand she (the owner) got really messed over by some weird city ordinances. Be nice if she could get some help and get something substantial established back on 12th street where she was. I worked there for 3 or 4 months and we did really well as far as sales went. She was a really nice lady too. Her whole family was great. Too bad it went the way it did.

You really don't have a life of your own! Poor thing!

El o El obviously has no idea what the Brandon's are asking for those lots by BYB. You would have to have A LOT of go karts racing to make money. Seems like that would be a seasonal thing also, tough to make that payment year-round on a seasonal business.

Thanks, my thoughts exactly but I still appreciate the idea. I know a lot of ideas will be personal preferences, but I'll consider any suggestion so fire away, what does Murray need that wouldn't cost a arm and leg to get going.

I havent been in there but I should I guess. Forgot about them actually. I'll check it out. Would still be nice to have a major bookstore though. I'm actually surprised we dont with the large college student population. A large bookstore with a spot for coffee would go over well I think.

We have free disc golf at central park so a play course probably would work out too well. A Germam resaurant would be nice.

With a restaurant attached that can sell beer. Bowling without beer is like golf without beer. What's the point?:-)

Go to Gatti's. There's nothing wrong with the bowling alley we have now. Just what we need is something else to put another family owned business out. He's asking for NEW, FRESH ideas.

a pay to play disc golf course would be much better than the free one at the park. it'd be more like a golf course, with a club house and activities...maybe some day camp classes for children during the summer. that sort of stuff. i think it'd go over well.
and yes, the bowling alley needs to sell beer. every other bowling alley sells beer, it's fun and people can still bring their children and have a good family time. that's a hard sell for some of the folks around here though...

A Smoothie King and a Schlotzsky's would be great in Murray!(closest ones are in Jackson, TN)

I do wish we had a Target.
