An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A....(substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.(Please pass this on) These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Those five points apply to many things. Government control, bailout, welfare, ect. I personally have no faith in either party for those reasons and many more.
The top 25 contributors for Obama and McCain four years ago were virtually identical. They appeared in different orders, but the same list. Speaks volumes to any open minded person not just trying to defend one party or the other.

What you are describing is a communistic system. That system has been shown to be a failure. If you are trying to discredit socialist institutions that serve our society, then you will have to try again.

I have a question for you. Is there a finite amount of wealth to be owned in the world?

If you can't discern the difference between communism and socialism, then you really have nothing of importance to add.

This has been happening for the last 20 years. Obama has only been in office for the last four. During the "Bush Era" I knew a mother who was having more kids to get a bigger check. I'm not saying it was smart, but she was doing it. All of you conservatards think this just started. You just didn't mind it as much when your leader was in charge. There are major problems with the country and the economy and this has been happening for decades. There is an absolute problem with the leeches on the bottom, but there is also a problem with the blood suckers on the top. I can't stand either party because majority of the middle class is going to be screwed by both.

All right! Another person who sees the big picture! I would disagree with calling them "conservatives" though. Call them what they are: radicals.

The GOP used to be the party of balanced budgets and prudent governance. Now it's the party of right wing radicals and religious fanatics.

Really? Is that the best you can do? Name-calling means you have nothing to debate with.

The problem with all of this is that an economic model is NOT the problem.

The problem is human nature.

With pure capitalism, people starve because there is not enough charitable giving.

With socialism, people have no incentive to earn more, so tend to do less. Only a few would work harder simply to help society.

Can anyone name the only culture in the world that practiced socialism, and it actually worked? And I mean free socialism, not that through taxation or forced at end of gun.

It did work, only once.

Exactly. People moan about programs for the poor but don't mind corporate welfare and subsidies.

You are describing communism, not socialism. Most every country on the Earth practices socialism to some degree. Like any government policy, it can be done well or it can be done poorly. Every time you leave your home, you practice socialism. Hell, you don't even have to leave your home.

Do you realize that at this very moment, the GOP is fighting tooth and nail to not raise taxes on the rich? They ARE NOT doing squat for the majority of people that are on this board. I will NEVER understand why middle class and low income Americans would support a group that doesn't give a crap about you. Yet, Kentucky people, who are primarily middle/low are crazy adamant about supporting them. I am not saying that Obama is right at all. I can't stand people who won't help themselves. I just want YOU to actually consider thinking about the issues and not what your parents told you. Have a brain!!

Because we choose freedom over socialism
