Someone told me the new CFSB Center was not going to let Wee Runs have anymore sales... Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Yes that is true, although it is not the fact it is the new CFSB center it is the new manager of the center. The Wee Runs sale that helps so many families and charities in our community does not matter to the new manager of the CFSB Center. Joe Santiago does not feel that the scheduling of this event is as important as having the circus come to town. I am outraged by this because it boils down to the fact that he is only worried about profits in the pockets of himself and the center, never mind the fact that MANY families count on this sale, and many charities greatly benefit from it. I am sure that his salary is great enough that he does not appreciate what the average household has to go through to cloth their children. So many people count on this sale. But I guess Joe Santiago counts on the circus profits for a dandy bonus for a self vacation, boat, or car. The sadest part about this whole mess is that Teresa (operater of weeruns, and nicest lady around!) went above Joe the manager, his boss, and was told that he stands behind Joe and his decision. I hope that something could be worked out, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Such a shame, THANKS JOE!!!

You people can't go to yard sales or (GASP) buy something new? How about going to another Wee Runs sale somewhere else? How about donating money to those charities directly?

Do you honestly think the CFSB Center is open for the hell of it? Are they not entitled to turn a profit? They are a business. Is the circus the real reason why the Wee Runs sale is off or is that a guess? How come Wee Runs couldn't schedule on another date? I don't think the whole story is being told here.

Well bed bug bob, it sounds like you don't know very much about the situation. There is not another Wee Runs sale. And you aparently have never went to a sale or know how it works to know that it is more than purchasing clothes, it is pretty much a trade in process, you sell your nice outgrown for nice cloths you need now. Yes the circus is the real reason the sale is off, that is coming from the managers mouth himself. and YES again they tried to reschedule on another date and he had an excuse for any date in the month that wee runs has always been in. Another month is out of question for many reasons so if you want the whole story get to know the topic before you post.

I'm not sure as to why weeruns couldn't schedule at another time, and I do not have "the whole story". But I do know that as a parent of young children that weeruns is much more than a "yard sale" and much more economical to most families than buying something brand new that you will only use for a couple of months, or possible a whole season. I also know there is no where else in Murray or nearby that is large enough to hold the consignment sale. It takes a whole month I think for the whole operation to take place. If you know of another place that is large enough and willing to rent space for a month, suggestions would be nice!

It would be great for Murray and the community if the manager could work out a solution so that we could have both events. I would like to see more events at the CFSB such as concerts and live events. I also participate at Wee Runs it is a great way to sell good quality items besides having a yard sale.

Why not the county fair grounds? What about a church? There are lots of options for wee runs.

Clearly you have never attended a Wee Runs sale NOR do you have any idea what all goes into one. If you did you would know that it has to be an INDOOR facility that is VERY SPACIOUS so unless you know an indoor county fair ground or a church that is as big as the CFSB center then neither of these options would work.(The last weeruns sale was almost to big for even the CFSB center)

Angry, the sale didn't come close to filling up the arena. Only the upper level was used, not the lower level at all.

However, I do find it odd that there wasn't an agreement made between the manager and Mrs. White. Seems to me Mrs. White could have elected to have the sale another time. I don't understand why she was so adimant about having it when she wanted it.

I still think we aren't getting the whole story. Something seems odd about this. Doesn't the arena get money from Wee Runs for holding it there? I just don't see an arena manager, especially in this economy, giving up dollars. It's probably that the CFSB Center wants more money from Wee Runs and they don't want to pony up the cash. Because doesn't everything come down to money?

BTW, they have these kind of sales in every city with an arena big enough to hold them. Get in the car and drive.

"Wrong" when I said it was filled up, I meant only the upper level because they do not allow the lower level to be used due to basketball practice. And unless you are a helper you would not see how filled up the place actually is because I have worked it the last drop off date and the place is packed! Ask any helper who gets to shop early and they could tell you. But again if you could find a church that has as much free space as the upper level of the CFSB center then please by all means name it. From my understanding, Mrs. White tried to reschedule the sale for months with Mr. Santiago, but it seemed he had an excuse for every possible date the sale could be on. The sale takes up a week slot for the CFSB center and not saying that other events are not important but when you have an event that does so much for the citizens in the community, that has gone on 2 times every year for many years, I think it is a little unfair that you would not give into consideration maybe moving the circus to another date in a month or so.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Santiago offered to have the sale in April (or May?) and she refused. If WeeRuns was SOOOO BIG and wonderful people would come no matter what time of the year.

Sounds like Mrs. White got mad and took her ball home.

May I make the following suggestion:

Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder.

I suggest that if you currently have an account with CFSB that you close that account. If you can afford to refinance any loans you have with them, please do so. Make sure when you are closing your account you let them know why.

Further, since the very people who depend on Wee Runs are the same as the target audience for the circus, might I also suggest foregoing the circus in protest.

BTW, there will be a very large contingent who will never recognize the "CFSB Center" - it is and will remain the RSEC.

And one last thing - the guy who is "standing behind" the RSEC's manager, I believe, is the head of development. You might also want to hold off on those donations to Murray State.

The CFSB Center will survive, so will the circus and CFSB bank. Oh and so will the university. All of them have enough money and will continue to have enough money.

And you still aren't really hearing the side of the arena manager. You are hearing the side of ONE disgruntled person.

I never knew weeruns gave money to charity. Which charities do they give too? I went one time and that was all I needed to see. It was nothing but a huge yard sale. People had their stuff so overpriced it was ridiculous. I mean $3.00 for a onesie with spit up on it. No thanks. I can buy a brand new package at wal-mart for $3.00. They price stuff so high so people that are dumb enough to think they are getting a good deal when they have their half price sale. Which then $1.50 is still too much for a ones with spit up on it. Good riddance weeruns.

I'm gonna go cancel all my stuff at CFSB cause the manager at the CFSB center won't let us have weeruns on a date I'm demanding. Joe Santiago is not an employee of CFSB nimrods. He is employed by MSU. So how is canceling everything at the bank gonna show him? He is still gonna get paid. Go have your white trash baby clothes yard sale somewhere else you idiots!!!

Do they really charge that much for items there? If so, wouldn't you rather just buy a new item if it's around the same price?

It amazes me at the stupid people that think they know everything and try to argue on something that they know nothing about! If you have never attended a wee runs sale before (bedbugbob) then stop trying to sound like you know something about it when you do not. You have no horse in this race so do us all a favor and SHUT UP! You do not know how it works (many others on here as well) or you would not sound so stupid! If you know of another sale that works exactly like wee runs please by all means name it. Wee runs does not give money to charity (rocker ron) people have the option to donate what items they do not sell to charities such as goodwill and angel's attic. A huge donation of clothes, toys, furniture, etc. is donated to angel's attic twice a year from wee runs. In return makes these charities money. If you do not contribute to a sale or get to shop on the first couple of days then yes, you will find the (unwanted items) that may be over priced or stained. But I have participated for years and have made as much as $300 a sale! I also bought that much as well (nice brand name stuff). So (Mind Numbed) explain how you think that the curris center would have enough space please? It has to be a vacant building for at least 2 weeks, if you knew the fundamentals of the sale you would understand why. And the racer arena will not hold the amount of people that a sale brings in. If you have ever been a contributor to a sale you would know why. There is always a line of at least 100 people for the first hour and I have seen as many as 300 people be in there shopping at once. The racer arena could not hold the amount of items and the amount of people for this. This sale has been done in many places and has grown with every sale and have to be moved to a bigger place. And as for it being CFSB’s fault I do agree that is not correct. I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with them. This problem between weeruns and Joe Santiago was before CFSB even bought the name of the RSEC. I do not blame them. However Mr. Santiago did not offer any other dates that were even possible for the sale. IF you think you know so much and you don’t think you are getting the whole story about it call him up yourself! I have worked at wee runs, I have participated for years in selling, I know how it works, I know the people who are involved and count on it, and I know the whole story of the argument so unless you have prove to back up a statement do not post it!
