Don't get excited about trying to get Mediacom because they will promise you all this high speed but the one catch is it'll only work anout half the time. I've been having it out with them for 2 years over outages!!

Ugh, same kind of problem on my road. I live on a dead end, and all we can get is Time Warner or MES. They both suck sooo much. AT&T and Mediacom both stop at the curve like five houses down from me.:@

It's unfortunate that a serious topic can turn into something so juvenile.
Too bad there isn't anything we can do about getting broadband in rural areas. It isn't fair that WK gets all this free government money to run fiber down every nook and cranny but AT&T can't get the same benefits because they are a for-profit entity. The consumer suffers.

I've seen his kind come and go. Don't piss him off though as he's got a screw loose somewhere.
Maybe Bi-Polar

You know the kind he is. On some government watch list.

Well at least you have DSL at your disposal. Where I live there is NOTHING - no cable, no DSL - nothing. And it annoys me knowing that I live on a major road but because I have AT&T, I can't get DSL. But if I lived in on a dead-end road in BFE and had WKRT, I could get DSL. It's just stupid.

I've had west ky Internet for 2 years, is it the fastest?? No!! Is it reliable?? Dam right!!! I have been with west ky 2 years, I had to get the emergency phone line, which was $1.00 a month but add the taxes and its $10.00. I had to have this in order to get the DSL, total for 6mb Internet and emergency phone is $80.00 a month.. Yea that's a lil high, but, I have never came home or went to use the Internet and not been able too, to me it's well worth it.. I know people in town with time Warner and yea they have 25-30 Mbps but they also have outages nearly weekly that last half a day or more... I know people that have Mediacomn that are so disgusted that it isn't reliable at all.. Also I don't know where you came up with the contract stuff cause I just called them an said I wanted Internet and I went by and signed a paper and the guy came the next day and I had

Iíve got all of you beat. I keep getting calls from Medeacom to hook up on Hi-speed cable when I agree and tell them to come hook me up the guys come out and find the main line on the hi way (old 80) that according to their blue prints runs past my house. It Actually turns and runs out across the corn field to the back of a medeacom employeeís house! Talk about a bunch of shat! It comes that close and I still canít hook up. The phone lines are 60yrs old and wonít support a fax machine ! So we are stuck with Hughesnet which is just above suck! And is limited so Netflix and any big downloads are out, and has a 10 sec. lag to Ny. So live games are out to. Plus itís over $70.00 a month
Good news, they are going to start construction in our area withing in the next 3 months. They said they have enough people that want it now. They called me 3 different times yesterday, and two of them confirmed the starting of construction on the new digital service.
I think it's funny, because I just wrote BBB the day before about it, and the next day Mediacom was on top of things. lol

I'm guessing that person was trolling. That sucks.

In new news, I was told that Time Warner Cable (who I believe bought New Wave) ran fiber optic service to Hancock Biological Station, which cuts right thru a sizeable unserved area. Now, can Hancock really use all the bandwith that fiber connection provides? I highly doubt it. There's prob. plenty of "room" on that network for plenty of households.

Anyway, here's another update on the issue I posted above.

Paducah Power System ran fiber from Murray to Hancock along 94 East and if you are a business, you can tap into that fiber line. It isn't available for residences, but hopefully that will change soon.

They just added fiber optics in symsonia. They are saying it should be working by the end of the month but if I'm paying $80 for 6mb down, I wonder how much they will charge for fiber optic speeds. Because we all know wkrt will charge out the ass for it. I wonder why they have not been the subject of a lawsuit yet.

bump for updates:

- a co-worker who lives in BFE western Tennessee gets fiber optic internet service installed by West Kentucky Rural Telephone. That's awesome.....for him.

- LBL has or is in the process of having fiber optic service installed.
