Calaveras county has a dirty little secret about their housing market that they don't want to talk about.

There are thousands of illegal and uncoded homes in the Calaveras housing market. Don't count on the Realator's, financial institutions nor escrow and the county to identify these illegal structures. At least hundreds of homes don't have their final buidling inspection report as recently reported in the Stockton Record.

Hundreds of owners have reported faulty electrical wiring, foundations, roofs improperly installed, R-factors ignored, illegal septic systems, the list is extensive and covers every conceivable building scam---all leaving homeowners with expensive fixes and fraudulent homes whose actual value is much lower than this current market.

If you are selling such a house you probably want to 'hide' these facts that have been publicly discussed. If you recently purchased any structure in Calaveras ask for the documentation.

Ask for a copy of your final building inspection, blue prints, etc. and discover that your home is an illegal structure of which the county has been claiming an accessed property tax on. The county will then want YOU to pay for their errors----and pay you will.

The county at the same time has done whatever it could to condone the building department's free for all under Ray Waller and his sidekick Tim Redmond, who were both given a golden parachute to exit quietly.

What we know is that from at least 1985-2005
code compliance, building inspections, blue prints and other were falsified, altered or destroyed. The relationship between builders and the county was so cozy that it was coined a 'pro-growth' position with bribes, favors and personal gain----to the front of the line.

Calaveras building inspector whistleblower, Steve Weber, was murdered in Sacramento in 2007 after collecting 10-years of illegal build documentation and was retaliated against and fired by Ray Waller, when Weber attempted to protect the public interest (2006). Steve Weber asked the grand jury to investigate but a grand jury investigation would have revealed that county officials to include the superior court and district attorney knew of the public corruption and ignored it for decades.

Weber's murder stopped any investigation from taking place and we believe his documentation was stolen. State authorities have refused to release Weber's autopsy report to date.

Former supervisor, Paul Stein, was one of the many supervisor's that Steve Weber approached and who wanted nothing to do with it. Supervisor Tom Tryon and Meritta Calloway are knee deep in this corruption and may have personally benefited.

It turns out that during this building frenzy many long-term politicians in Calaveras likely benefited by having their homes either renovated
or ad-ons as part of the fraud. Think judges Douglas V. Mewhinney, John E. Martin, DA Jeff Tuttle and Tryon and Calloway----pulling their own Ted Stevens here in Calaveras.

Allright, ladies..... i'm off of my "druggies in front of the store" soap-box......

now that i'm away from that "F"ed up county, let me spin y'all a yarn that to the best of my knowledge is true...Whithout the fear of my life in the balance......

Calaveras county has a long history of corruption at the executive level...the judges, police, and county officials are ALL in bed together!!
as a kid i heard horrifiying stories of ritualistic sex abuse related to satanic-ish/ witch type rituals. It was lore that NO county offical in any potent capacity was ever elected from the outside... only the "good ol' boys" Make it into office.... somewhere out on Jesus-Maria, there is a place where they come together for their ceremonies... look for a migration of nicer vehicles on the summer solstice....
I once worked with a man who later fled salem oregon over child molestation charges that endede up being true.... name of Monty Pope... just before his flight, we found out we both had lived in calaveras county at one time... we went on and on about this and that untill i brought up the satanic/witch sex coven stuff.... Monty went COMPLETELY ashen white and clocked off and went home.... for his last 3 days there at work he wouldn't even make eye contact with me... and no speaking to me... kinda hard when you're on line as chefs.... this immediately gave creedence to all the stories i had thought was bull-sh*t as a young man... Monty disappeared 3 days later and was never heard from again...
so, yes there are druggies in calaveras county, but the elected officials are the ones to really watch your ass with!!!! as far as locals go, just stay out of their pot plant patches and all should be fine... but piss of the wrong official, well, there's lots of undocumented mine shafts around there to house your carcass for eternity!!!!

Creepy little impoverished county..... thanks, ladies and gents for listening to my rant!!

Oh my goodness, we have not seen any of this, but we do have a neighbor, who since we moved up there 2 years ago, has told us stories about how people have "hurt him" because he was trying to get things changed in Rail Road Flat. Seems he owns some property near the store or something. We actually stay away from all of this stuff, we live up there 90% of the time and ignore all of this crap. I love it there, just bothers me about the store! Why did you move from up in Calaveras?

i was a salem native and wanted to go back to be with my larger family.... 18 and restless too, i suppose.... not a place for a young man to find opprotunities to get a start on life....

and an air of "faux" neutrality is probably best for y'all up there... law enforcement is sparse there when the "villagers" appear on your land with pitchforks and tar and feathers!!! don't get politically involved unless you're REALLY dedicated to the issue.... they don't play around there....it ain't a joke...... i love the place and the people, but at the same time the whole package gives me the willies!!!! TO THIS DAY....

i used to get a ride to school every day from a man named bob.... he had me twist him joints while we went to san andreas... he ended up killing 3 of my older friends while he was all whacked out on meth... he was convinced the 3 were trying to steal his pot plants..... he had his 3 children help dispose of the bodies.... chainsaws, battery acid, barrels....spooky shit! he and his wife, evelyn, went to prison.... the kids were pretty messed up over it.... then there is leonard lake and charles ing..... some friends of mine ( the clarks) dug "utility" ditched for them.... they would come back to back-fill them and the holes would be filled already.... that's where leonard and charles were putting the bodies!!!!

Creepy little impoverished county.......

So, where do you live now? Our neighbor warned me when we moved up there, he said to be careful as there are not many women up there with teeth and I might have problems!!! Oh my God, I can't even imagine. You know there are wierdos all over, I kind of choose to stay alone and not get involved. Our neighbors wanted us to become involved with community meetings, etc., we can't be bothered. Where do you live now?

jimmy----I also caught wind of santanic and cult worship in Calaveras in the 18-years that I was around there. Someone pointed out "Scott's Junction" as a place of former worship. We found a dead young black goat that had been ritualisticly killed and left on a dirt road in RRF in 2004.

I left the county due to death threats from Sheriff Dennis Downum, he's one scary SOB---Brasil suits me just fine, thanks.

We know that judge John E. Martin's friend molested foster kids and after a 3-year legal process the man walks free----funny how the court just convicted a man in the Angels Camp double homicide---took only 5-months for that.

Judge Douglas V Mewhinney, John E. Martin, Commissioner Grant Barett and DA Jeff Tuttle,
all county insiders (think Tuttle town) are so criminal that the state attorney general, Jerry Brown, refused to investigate well documented public corruption----guess Jerry really wants to be the next gov and can't give-up any endorsements.

Supervisor's Tom Tryon, Meritta Calloway, Bill Claudino, Paul Stein (ret), Victoria Erickson (Sheriff Downum's neice) have all wallowed in the corruption at our expense. My favorites are county schools superintendent, John Brophy and Bret Harte USD, president, Joan Lark, who have consistently proven that idiocy dovetails well with public corruption.

Calaveras is a cess pool.

In Calif we also have problems at the state supreme court, where chief justice George operated the judicial commission overseeing the conduct of judges at such a low threshold, that George himself has shat on the state constitution.

BTW---Steve Weber was murdered in Calaveras an his body placed in Sac. Co---as part of the county's need to silence Steve forever. They couldn't afford another corpse on their watch.

First off guys, I appreciate all of the warnings but I do not get involved with the "local folk" much!!! We pretty much stay to ourselves, our neighbors have warned us before, but how do any of you have so much time to find out about all of the these goings on. I only see the beauty of the countryside but I understand your concerns. Thanks, Susan

As To How I Found OUT SO MUCH, THESE ARE AMASSED SUPPOSITIONS COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS... I HAD QUITE A FEW PEOPLE MOVE UP HERE TO OREGON FROM RRF, AND THEY ONLY ADDED TO MY HODGE-PODGE OF MEMORIES AND SECOND -HAND STORIES... SO I GUESS IT'S TAKEN 20 YEARS PLUS TO CONSOLIDATE THESE TALES...AS FOR "MEESTER" BRAZIL-MAN, YOU'D HAVE TO ASK HIM....JIMMY... JUST REMEMBER THIS "NON ILIGITIMI CARBORUNDUM.....DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YA DOWN!!!!!"

I am an attorney in Tracy, CA. In 2007 I filed a lawsuit on behalf of a man who is now in his 30's; in 1990, a Calaveras high School teacher named Sherry Look was appointed his Guardian by the Court. She then started having sex with my client, who was 15 years old. the next year she became pregnant as a result of the molestations and the following year 1) her husband left her when she started to show pregnant, and 2) she carried the pregnancy to term. She had the baby and raised him in the same house as my client, who had nowhere else to go. He tried to bury the secret but as an adult he suffered a horrible breakdown, tried to kill himself, lost his family, etc. Judge Martins our judge, I'm interested whether the comments about his friend molesting kids has substance. Does anyone know about this, or even about my case, I have heard that my case was common knowledge when it happened, but no one stepped in to help my client.

I had know Steve Weber for a number of years. I worked with him and had many conversations regarding this issue. I remember him showing me a file box that contained files that were signed by Ray Waller. He Saved these documents for the chance to blow the top off of the whole county officials. Steve would tell the contractor that the building was needing many improvements prior to passing code and that he would not sign the permit until these items were fixed. The contractor would call and speak to Ray and Ray would come out and sign the permit personally. I also remember the talk of many office disputes that he had with ray Waller, the office door was closed. There was one case where someone wanted to build a large metal storage/workshop , this was not allowed in the city limits and Steve wouldn't approve it. But guess who did. I knew Steve and he did have his issues, but when it came to building he did know his right from wrong. He always stood his ground and got in many verbal altercations with contractors. This is the first I am hearing about the theory of a murder rather than just plain suicide. We owe Steve the chance to redeem his name and pursue the problems that a tight County Government of corruption, from ruining any more family's and their investments. I also read in the paper that Ray Waller just won in court and received a large amount of money for winning a court case against the city for violation of privacy. I am very discouraged in our corruption not only in the county's but in the entire U.S. I find that the ideals of Government have been lost in the archives, never to be brought back without a Civil War. I love my country and the people that serve it , but I currently have lost hope in the system and the people put in charge of it. I personally didn't get along with Steve and felt that he was a whole lot of drama ,but this issue I am to stand up for because he was correct.

Steve Weber was one of the people that served our country to protect the consumer purchases and investments of the people to make sure that if in the future or present the properties that he inspected matched or exceeded the county and state code of safety and building practices. I believe we must do something!

I live on Jesus, and have most my life. Everything you say about our creepy little impoverished county is true. Stay away for your own safety. This is a very dangerous place to mess around if your not a local. Mine shafts with pentagrams painted near by, stick dolls hanging in trees in the woods, mysterious sounds like chanting and even sightings of "Pumpkinhead"
