In regard to the pervert prosecutor in Terrell Coounty Texas, this is exactly how government in the United States operates. They don't care about the citizens, only about their own. When was the last time you ever heard police or prosecutors say,"We checked, we double checked and then quadruple checked, since he was one of our own." When it's a citizen they are after, they just summarily arrest the citizen and then fabricate and manufacture the evidence needed to convict, as they go. Their only rule of conduct is:'Don't get caught!'

I think these kind of predators should be brought to justice by any and all means. There are several stings like this all over the United States and the only thing that makes this different is that Dateline was involved and it was televised. I salute the police for their efforts.

Deputy Dawg:
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you that some of these Pervs are being not being given the punishment they deserve. But, that's our legal system. It gives more rights to the criminals than the victims. We need to stop slapping criminals on the wrist, giving them free room and board, a gym membership and an education to only get out and repeat the crimes that put them their to begin with! If people realized that there would be harsher consequences for their actions they would think about it twice. Denver, CO |

My condolences to the Louis Conradt's family.
At the same time since the DA committed suicide, it proves beyond doubt that he felt really ashamed of himself. Congrats for the good job done by Dateline and the Murphy police dept in rooting out sexual perverts. It is really sickening to see why some group of people dont support the good brave work done by the police. Every time, I see Chris Hansen approach the predator, my heart goes out that the predator should not be armed with some gun or something. It requires balls to be a part of this operation which benefits the community. |

I used to live in TX. I would be honored if the police were to protect MY children and I am sorry if dateline is not your particular forum, but it makes sense. They are uncovering what america needs to know about. I have a 9 year old daughter who's internet is STRICTLY monitored. These jerks come out of the woodwork and try to prey on our children. Amen to dateline and to the police departments for doing what some americans consider to be a HUSH HUSH issue.

You guys really need to change the "online solicitation of a minor" law in Texas. It is putting a lot of innocent people behind bars. The law gives you no choice but to take a plea and be registered as a sex offender for LIFE. And if you do decide to be brave and go to a trial, where the juries already have their mind made up of predator, will get a 15yr sentence and then be registered as a sex offender and a FELON. It is easier for murderer to defend their case but there are no defense for this online solicitation of a minor SCAM. I agree, the people in dateline that went into the house when they saw the underage actress deserves this punishment. But the law sucks when police comes to arrest you by pretending to be a teen online. This is purely an entrapment. Pleople need to be aware of this scam. People lies online all the time. Does that allow law enforcements to go out and arrest them? No. Everyone wants their children to be safe. Making everyone register as a sex offender is not the solution.

The DA has announced that none of these cases will be prosecuted. Perv Justice is not helping, nor is Dateline. Each got what they wanted: Perv Justice got fodder for it's website and $100K. Dateline got way more than bargained for and a great Feb. sweeps episode. Murphy citizens and police got screwed for the sack of outside entities who had their own agendas. The perverts got 15 minutes of shame and no other punishment. Not what the MPD was after I'm sure.

"law stinks" If a person had nothing to hide than why wouldn't you go to trail in front of your peers? When I go to the airport and my bag gets search I don't mind, as I know I have nothing to hide! Go to www.perverted-justice.com and see what perverts are trying to do to your daughters/sons/sisters/brother s/grandaughters/grandsons...it 's just sick.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Why don't you take the time to find out the facts before you start spouting off. If you are interested in the truth I will post it. |

Knows the Truth,
Please elaborate. Is the Collin County DA actually going to prosecute? Did Perv Justice not get $100K for this episode? Do they not have this as a front page tirade on their website? Has Perv Justice not sent out a call to harrass the elected officials in Collin County and the State of Texas? Did Dateline not get an episode that went above and beyond the usual "catching of a pervert" episode and air it in February?" Has any pervert recieved any punishment in our legal system? I know more than you would think about this situation. But I'm more than happy to see you post some truth. |

I cannot believe the city of Murphy would ignore pedofiles in their community. God help their youngsters! Shame on you.......

I think everyone does deserve a second chance. PEOPLE DO MAKE HORRIBLE MISTAKES IN LIFE. That should not be an end to their life especially when the crime really did not happen. Texas law does not give a second chance. It's one strike and you're out for life. Think about the Texas DA that committed suicide when police went to his door for an online solicitation charge. He knew the law very well and did not see any way out. I think Texas does want people with this kind of charge to commit suicide because there is no end to this. He will be sent to prison and come out with a felony and then be required to register as a sex offender for life. It will be impossible for these people to get a job and make an honest living. The more you delve into these type of cases, you find out young guys, less than 30 yrs old, college graduate, talented professionals being caught for these type of charges. Most of these people never had any prior records. Don’t you think they deserve a second chance? Throwing the book at them is not the answer.

8 months later, no one has been charged. Probably won't because the majority of the jerks were out of Murphy's jurisdiction. One of many huge problems the police/CM created for themselves. They should have known better. Evidence wasn't collected, reports were not made at the time of arrest. Arrest warrants were not issued when the crimes were committed. Computers with the evidence were not seized. The list of mistakes goes on and on. This sting was done purely for TV. People keep saying the conviction rate of PJ is high. It's not. The Murphy Police were not educated/trained to do internet stings. They were tricked into the being used by the money machine.
NBC/PJ did not get any perverts off the street, but they did make big money. And that is all that counts. No one in Murphy supports predators. We DO support our police. We want them to do a good job and the communtity is behind them. To suggests otherwise is stupid. But the bottom line is they were NOT trained for this type of operation. There are agencys that work strickly on Internet/predator crimes. They have the manpower/training to get the "bad guys" and do it right. For those of you that want to hate and malign the Citizens of Murphy there probably isn't anything anyone can say, so be it. I just ask you "try" to look at both sides. |

P.S. Keep your children off the internet! When did your responsibility to keep your children safe become the City of Murphy?

America's Most Wanted makes money too, but you can see the results for yourself...they get criminals off the street! If nothing else they got their dirty mug shot on TV. No one is attacking your The City of Murphy. We just want the perverts off the street. Whether that's your street my street...I don't care!! Yes, I agree it is a parent’s responsibility to keep them off the internet. I personally don't allow my children to go on any website that I haven't checked out myself. And when I'm not home the computer has a password, so they can't access the internet. Hopefully, I have given him the common sense...but what if he goes to a friend’s house whose parents are not as strict about the internet? What then? Just because a child finds a way to get on the internet doesn't give the right for pedophiles to lure, molest, and rape our children. Should we slap them on the wrists and say "Bad boy don't do it again!”? If you watched there were actually people that made their second appearance on "To Catch a Predator". They are sick and need help!! |

How many of you in and around Murphy, Texas watched Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator and thought justice was done (whether the suspects were arrested, charged, or just exposed)?
Now, how many of you who watched Dateline NBC now think it is a horrible idea - something you don't want in your city? Hypocrite. If you think about it for a minute, you'd be grateful that the child sexual deviants were caught. Imagine if something happened to your son or daughter??? |
