Anyone else having high speed problems, Have called and all i get is That they know there is a problem and are working on it. Been over 2 weeks here.
It's been at least a month that I keep getting kicked off internet even in the middle of a search. I called and got the same message. The phone service hasn't been good either. Been waiting for a tech for over a week to correct static.

Looking for a good internet provider. What is the best deal going? Our house is outside Murphy in the Ranger area. Any ideas?

BRM fiber if its available in your neighborhood. Very fast, reliable and a good price as well:-) If not Frontier DSL is your best bet, again if available to your home.

Frontier is adding DSL to Cherokee County areas all the time .... it's already started in some parts of the Ranger community .... call Frontier and see if it's available to you.

What we need Is more competition for internet in our area. I made an appointment a month ago to get frontier installed in my home and when the time came for the tech to come out they never showed up or called. i called 4 times from 10 in the morning til 730 at night just to hear that they are in route! they then apologized and offered me a $100 credit and promised a tech to be out the next day. to my "surprise" no one called or came once again. lol they are ridiculous and i hope we soon get a reliable/affordable provider that puts them out of business in the Murphy area.

Frontier in a word SUX, we had a good provider called Verizon & we likely wont have another good provider unless someone buys Frontier (dont count on that ever happening). Have you looked into using Verizon wireless for your internet provider? They have decent speed & price.

got Sky Tek in Murphy. The speed is the best.
Called BRMEMC their Marketing is like they might hook you up but they really did not want business.
Frontiers techs are just not trained. Verizon caused alot of Frontiers problems. Andrews has franchise problems . Cable tv is ok just a little slow.

Well, here it is, nearly a year after the last post on this subject and I have to say there has been NO improvment on speed. I pay for their 'high speed' connection and it's a joke. This is like having dial up back in 2000.
When I called to inquire, I was told they are upgrading the system. BS.
I guess I'm lucky to have any service out here, but I'm not even a mile from the 60 spur so it's not like I'm in no-mans land. My ping was 6ms last time I checked, today it read 120 and the 3rd check was 65, download is runung 1.54 and upload is between .32 and .57. I don't know what a good speed is, but this isn't it for me.

What are you paying Frontier for? Look on your bill - I'll bet its 1.5 which is what youre seeing and all Frontier is offering as the oversold their capacity which was marginal to begin with. If you can get BRMEMC go for it as it kicks butt for this area. Not sure what youre trying to do & what your requirements are but for general streaming, surfing the net, etc. 1.5 works. That being said if youre trying to share that with several devices/users then its going to suck. I feel your pain as Im 2 miles at most from the Frontier office in town and we have the same problems. Its better then itwas years ago & hopefully we can get some more competition. Also you may want to check the Green Sheets" paper as I saw several wireless offerings though their prices were for capped data amounts which I wont do.

At this point, all I'm doing is personal like taking are of household accounts, surfing, facebook, some shopping. I don't download movies or music, but I can't stand waiting 30 seconds for a page to load, I have a pc, a couple laptops and a tablet, so no more than 2 devices are ever in use simultaneously. Often I get no connect at all, have to reboot the modem, etc. This isn't the dark ages, the technology should be better. I s BRMemc dsl or or satellite? I use them for electric, they seem pretty reliable.
