Are you working for this company?ARE YOU BEING PAID WHAT THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR says you should make?
If you are hauling mail for this company, the department of labor sets your wage,NOT MCCORMICK TRUCKING COMPANY.THey have been known to pay you as LITTLE as $13 an hour, when they are supposed to be paying AT LEAST------AT LEAST---$22.34 per hour.If you are an owner operator- or work for an owner operator contracted to mccormick, you should ALSO be making this wage, instead of the pennies he is paying.CALL THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR IN YOUR STATE AND THEY WILL HAVE YOU A NICE BACK PAY CHECK WAITING ON YOU!.....STOP LETTING THIS GUY STEAL YOUR MONEY, and BACK STAB EVERYONE ELSE

call the department of labor and ask what the wages are for a contract mail employee. Then ask what these drivers are making.

Sounds like these drivers need a good union behind them. All the wage thieving would stop. Most all the other mail companies have unions

I see alot of problems with this cmpany. They do't pay their drivers what they are supposed to, nor do they follow the national highway safety board rules.

Feds say mail haulers were employees
By Jill Dunn

Federal officials filed a complaint against a California mail hauler, charging violations that include incorrectly classifying owner-operator employees as independent contractors.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced the filing of an administrative complaint Aug. 21 against Alan Berman Trucking, saying the company wrongly required drivers to use their own trucks and assume all costs.

The department seeks $1.3 million in back wages for 80 current and former employees and seeks debarment of the company and its principals, which would prohibit them from receiving government contracts for three years.

Alan Berman Trucking representatives did not return a phone call seeking comment.

Alan Berman Trucking has $10 million in mail-hauling contracts with the U.S. Postal Service in the Los Angeles and San Francisco regions. Mail-hauling contracts are subject to the federal Service Contract Act, which requires most contractors and subcontractors to pay their service workers no less than the local standard in wages and benefits, as determined by the Department of Labor.

Investigators said they found violations on eight contracts, including that Alan Berman Trucking paid employees by the mile or by the trip, failed to record hours worked and paid no benefits. The company allegedly also made illegal fuel deductions from drivers' pay and failed to reimburse drivers for the cost of maintenance and wear and tear on the driver-owned trucks. As a result, the drivers' wages fell below the prevailing standard wage rate, the Department of Labor charges.

The back-wage compensation would cover work performed between June 2004 and February 2007.

The suit names as defendants the company and two of its officers: President Alan Berman of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Vice President Osvaldo "Ozzie" Tarditti of Northridge, Calif.

i worked for them for 3 months back in 2009. i was fired because i wouldnt drive a truck they had in which the clutch went out. after refusing to drive a clutchless truck i was told that "you will drive the truck even if the engine is falling out" driving from ohio to memphis with a stop in KY and back. having only 8 hours of downtime instead of the legal 10 hours downtime. forcing us to cheat the logs. so yes this company is no good.

I was working for a us postal contractor in knoxville,tn (heartland transportation) this company was not paying the prevailing wage accroding to the postal service,,,,they was also forcing me to drive over the D.O.T. limits,,and the equipment would not pass pre trip inspection but I was being fored to drive any way.I put my foot down about being forced to drive over my leagel limits and told them I would not do it anymore. I also told them i was not driving any truck that was not up to D.O.T safety specks. I turned them in to d.o.l. the day after I was toll that heartland had to pay me back pay i was fired. The back pay did not cover the prevailing wage so it has been a fight to get D.O.L.to do their job. I also turned them in under the Surfice Transpot Assistance Act that covers anybody in the trucking industry including truck drivers. This law falls under federal OSHA but they have dragged their taill on this. I am being told the investigations are almost finished and the company is goin to get the book thrown at them finaly. If anyone has any good info for me or can set me up with a lawyer to help me please let me know.you can e-mail me at ja5656@yahoo.com
