There's been a great deal of buzz about Amazon opening a giant warehouse here in middle Tennessee, but before you become too giddy, you'd best read the following articles.

It's seems that wherever Amazon has opened warehouses, the workers quickly find out what a hell-pit Amazon actually is to toil in. Low pay, impossible-to-meet standards, constant write-ups, management breathing down your neck, short to non-existant breaks and being ripped off of overtime pay (a lawsuit against Amazon is now on-going for cheating employees.)

But since amerika has been plunged into an economic depression by a cabal of tribal banksters, getting a job at Amazon 'seems' like a real blessing. In fact, for these low-paying warehouse jobs they PREFER people with college degrees.

But that actually makes sense considering the article out last week that reported that over 50% of last year's college grads are either unemployed or under-employed.

Welcome to the new world order amerika!
I realize many of you, terminal 'yes' men sycophants types, will wheeze on about 'how thankful' we should be just to have jobs--but of course you're the type who are moronically brown-nosing or comfortably retired on pensions or just contrarians.

But some of you are going to get hired and quickly find out that what you read here was the truth. Sorry to pee on the parade but Amazon is a crummy place to work.

The average slave, I mean 'picker' at Amazon will walk about 10--15 miles a day while on the job. Your 10 minute break will actually only last about 2-5 minutes after the time it takes you to walk from your work station to the break room.

Amazon sets these impossible 'standards' where you have to pick an item every 2 seconds. You're being clocked and timed on everything you do. For those of you who can work like machines and keep up, you'll simply be told to increase your speed every day. In other words, you can never work fast enough to please them. Supes will be all over you, constantly berating you. For those of you who can't keep up, you'll eventually be let go. They've got hundreds just waiting to take your place.

Watch your time cards carefully. Amazon is known to cheat its employees on pay. They're being sued as we speak in a major lawsuit for this thing.

Im not a disgruntled former employee; Im just telling you what you can expect.

Many of you are going to find out first hand that these so-called "trolls" on here were telling you the truth.

Come back to this thread in a couple of months and see.

Amazombie can get away with such terrible workplace practices and low pay because they know that REAL UMEMPLOYMENT in some places is as high as 33%. They know that college grads are having a hard time finding decent paying jobs.

This article tells of the millions of college grads forced to move back home because of companies like Amazombie who pay starvation wages.

This is just the same person using different user names spouting off the same old crap on other message boards saying the same thing. And I think this person has been doing this for years on Topix. He has nothing better to do.

You have to wonder about a person like this, maybe he is in jail. Maybe this person got fired and is a disgruntled ex-employee. Maybe he used to work in a bookstore:) He has done nothing but try and put Amazon in a bad light, so maybe he thinks he can change the world, person by person, by making it sound so bad others won't want to work for Amazon. Then amazon won't be able to find employees, and they go out of business. And finally, after years of being annoying on public message boards, his bookstore opens back up and he will be back at his old job again.

We can only hope.

I currently work here. I will agree breaks aren't the longest, but what job has a good break, really?? Other than that everything is good. Management is definitely not all over you. There's a lot of walking but its a HUGE place so its understandable.

I currently work at amazon in Murfreesboro and I love my job. I feel blessed to have a job and especially one with better than average starting pay and I have no problems with management bothering me. I go in and do my job the best I can. I agree the breaks seems a little unfair but I've adjusted.

How do I apply for a job at Amazon?

I work at the Murfreesboro Tn facility, through a temp sevice. I am looking for other employment. This place is nothing but a glorified sweat shop. They have a labor tracking system that tells everything you do, shows if you have 30 seconds idle time. They have rates that you must achieve or get wrote up. So do I try to take a bathroom break on my break? I have a fifteen minute break twice a day, and it takes about five minutes to get to a break area. If I need to go during work hours it's coming off my production. They do not care that there might be circumstances in the amazon company that prevent you from making "rate"....ie, no space, to many asins in bins, to many people trying to get through. You walk many miles and over three levels. The temp company SMX told everyone that amazon would hire seventy percent of us, no way they don't have the work load, and we're in peak season....Christmas. They have police stationed in the parking lot, supposedly for traffic. You can look at the computers that run they're labor tracking system and see it go red if you had to go to the bathroom, because you've been idle too long. There are managers that stand around looking for anyone late from lunches or breaks, or not using crosswalks, or parking wrong or well pretty much anything. You must always use the painted walkways outside. You must never back in or pull through a parking space, only allowed to park the amazon way. You must never use the bathrooms when the redlight is on....you must walk further and loose more of their production time. You must never sit or kneel on the floor even though you have only a bottom bin to work in, you have to take one item at a time, and bend down to floor level repeatedly. This they say is a safety issue, what will happen when peoples backs go out? Is that a safety issue? Of course not as long as it doesn't affect productivity. I could go on and on about the mentality and restrictions and general bad work environment, but I need to check my gps and make sure I'm not in China! This company will have a high turnover rate and suffer from they're practices. Anybody that needs a stopover for a few weeks till your next REAL job apply through SMX staffing for amazon. Trust me they will always need people.

I work at amazon in murfreesboro, tn. I am hired on through the company. I am a college grad who has not been able to find a job within my area of study so to jave this job is a true blessing. Yes the breaks may be a little less than what im use to but i deal with it. Talking about production being impossible is ridiculous. I am a picker and a problem solver. I am always over 100% production for the day. Once a week they have a meeting about production and yes if you arent on goal you get wrote up but for 6 weeks straight i have had a positive mark due to such high production. If people would do there job and not fatinize then they would get there numbers. Get over it you chose to work there. If you dont like it leave so someone who will appreciate it can get the job.

I work at amazon through SMX and i think it is a great place to work. They are constantly giving away gift cards, incentives to work hard, & I have had a wonderful experience with the managers, they are friendly & always smiling. The people leaving these negative comments sound to me like people who just don't want to work. If you don't like working at amazon, go the job resource center & see what they have to offer you, NOTHING. I am ex construction worker/plumber && have had some CRAP managers, amazon has great managers who meet you with a smile each night & leave you with a smile & handshake each morning & say thank you for all your hard work. How many places offer that?? I LOVE WORKING AT THIS FACILITY.

LOVE working at amazon!!! Honestly I don't know how anyone can not make rate. They bend over backwards to help you do so. All you have to do is walk at a steady pace. And for the ones complaining about breaks must be smokers!!!! because the damn building has 5, FIIIVVVEE!!! different breakrooms!!! They have 2 large rooms near the front of the building and one large break room upstairs. then they have two more medium sized rooms. So NO ONE can complain about breaks being cut short unless you are a smoker that waste all your break to go through security and go outside.

Has Amazon released the 2012 W-2 yet? I do not work there anymore but still have access to the ADP portal website. No W-2 posted so far. Anyone get their W-2 yet?

i called Amazon and the guy told me Jan 31, though he was customer service. Do you happen to have the human resources number there in Murfreesboro so i can call them directly and double check? All my paystubs are still on the ADP portal but no W-2.
