Is anyone else miffed about the use of the word "rape" in this story? When I first heard this story I couldn't believe the bus driver wouldn't see a rape- but that's because of my personal definition of rape. What happened to this girl is despicable, and I feel for her. At the same time, all of you who are denegrading the bus driver ... how many times have you been driving in your car and not been able to monitor your children in the back seat? How much MORE challenging would that be for a bus driver? Put the blame on the perpetrator, and hope that this story will help improve awareness, but give the driver a break.

I agree with everthing you say except "stover should be castrated". Rape is not an aggressive form of sex but a sexual form of aggression.(Can't remember the person this quote is attributed to) Therefore, castration will not remove the aggression, it will just come out in other forms such murder, etc. This kid needs to be dealt with severely!

I am finding it greatly difficult to believe that this girl was being raped on the school bus and NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON tried to help her. Not even the driver. Then I read in a story posted later that he isn't going to be charged with any wrong doing? If I were this girls parents I would take that video to a lawyer and sue him on a personal level. He knew dammit! You will never convince me otherwise. Stupid pervert probably watched the whole thing going on. How many others? Was she the first? Will she be the last? My heart truly goes out to this young lady. I hope that she has the strength and courage to heal from this. To those of you on the bus that did nothing, SHAME ON YOU!! What if that had been your sister, or best friend, your girlfriend? Shame on you!! If my son had been on that bus the fella would have had more to worry about than criminal charges....he would have need a plastic surgeon from the flat beating he would have received. The student is 18 that raped the girl HE is considered an adult. HE should be tried as an adult. you don't have to inter the body for it to be called rape.
If he is so charged he will be registered as a sex offender whitch will be with him the rest of his life.
But you have to look at both sides of this rape what started this in the first place.
Don't get me wrong the person who did this should go to jail I am sure that the other inmates would love to have him in jail for a time

there is cctv installed in most busses nowadays if the driver is not equipped with a monitor on-board he should be. failing that, a glance in his rear-view mirror, or a look over his shoulder would have alerted him to something going on.

I agree 100%!!!!!! I've been out of school for awhile and times have changed but in my day it would've ended before it ever began!

My elementary school aged child saw this on the news and asked why nobody helped her. I told him I didn't know that they might've been scared to help. I didn't have an answer for him. But someone should've helped her.

He told me he would've beat him up. It's sad when an 8 year old knows better than a teenager!
