Nothing will be done. Look at everything that has happened on buses over the last few years. What has been done--NOTHING. It's as simple as putting an aide on the bus. Special needs buses have them because they need them. It's apparent regular ed buses need them as well. But no, they don't want to come off the money to do so. They would rather talk about what needs to be done. Not act on it.
Alot of changes need to be made with the transportaion department for public schools. Maybe then they will also fix the placement of alternative kids on special needs buses. Hello people, if the kid is too bad to ride a regular ed bus, he is too bad to ride a special needs bus. Other incidents have happened that have not been made public. Fix the problem or find someone else who can do the job.
Or do nothing, let the parents do justice as they see fit.

I have had issues with the way Rutherford County addresses school busses and any problems related to them. The busses in Rutherford County are privately owned and the bus drivers SMOKE on them, take items left on them, and often ignore trouble. Kids of all ages are placed on the bus together. I am not suprised about the situation; only that it has taken this long to happen. I truly hope that the school board recognizes that Rutherford County is changing and they need to too. My prayers are with this young lady and I hope she is offered the help she will need to overcome this ordeal. It's truly sad that we parents can't send our kids to school and expect that they will be safe.

the reason others may not help is because we punishes the normal good kids for one mistake as hard as someone that gives problems all the time kids can not grow up normal any more ask the school board what would have happened if another boy who was raised right had got up and punched the one doing the rape out

I think that bus driver is full of crap. I mean, did the story not say that she was FIGHTING back? and did the driver not say that he looked up a few times to make sure nobody was FIGHTING?Am I the only one that caught that? Well, somebody is lying. And being that the little girl is on tape clearing FIGHTING back(what the driver said he checked on during the ride) maybe it's him. And if you won't assign 60students to a teacher, why in the h*ll would you assign 60 students to a bus driver? How backwards is that?

What in the world is wrong with kids today? NO ONE tried to HELP this girl or stop what was being done to her. Kids just think its a game and there going to be running this country one day. It is bad when parents have to worry about there kids all day and what could happen to them on a simple ride home. I am shocked and very upset at this. This boy should be locked up for a good long while.

I have raised my kids to stand up for whats right not be a coward. If my son had punched the boy out and been punished I would have fought it and I think it would have been worth the risk even if we lost the fight.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand. Kids today are not being raised right. I'm female and I would've been the first one over there fighting with her to get him off of her!

Bus driver had to hear commotion and should've stopped the bus and taken care of it. OR got on his radio/cell phone/etc and asked for help!

This is a tragedy. Castration should be an option. This boy is obviously a danger to society. If he can rape on a school bus, is he capable of sneaking into someone's home to do the same? Maybe even murder? He must not be returned to society!

stover should be castrated. as for the the rest of the passengers that new what was happening, your actions (or lack of them) and silence makes you every bit guilty as anyone else involved. i hope thats on your conscience for the rest of your cowardly lives

As for the other kids that did nothing.... everyone that is shown on the video that is aware of the situation needs to be charged with aiding this felony. And for the bus driver. He is way too stupid to be hauling our kids around. If he doesn't have a clue as to what is going on, on his bus why is he there. WAKE UP people get involved with your school board and make changes to how these drivers are hired what there qualifications are. Volunteer to ride on the bus do whatever it takes to make it safe for your child! WE CANNOT COUNT ON THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

My child was expelled for 5 days from one of Riverdale's buses because he pulled a piece of paper out of a hole in the seat. If a bus driver is aware of something like that, I find it impossible to believe that the bus driver did not know this girl was in trouble. But worse yet are the kids who rode that bus and did not intervene. Shame on them, too. My children stopped riding the bus last year, and I am certainly glad they did!

carl i just read your post. i cant believe you can think there is an excuse for no one helping. from what i gather, you think the kids were scared to intervene, afraid of the school board and the punishment they might receive! well i can assure you it would be a hell of a lot less severe than that young girl went through, and will have to go through
before she can deal with such trauma (if she ever does) and knowing no one helped. i hope if you have kids you can teach them right from wrong, because by the sounds of you your the type of spineless bastard that would have sat there and done nothing

I agree with John in Australia! NO EXCUSE for the other kids doing nothing. Had one of mine been on the bus I can GUARANTEE you something would have been done. Even my timid little Lauren would have at least went to the bus driver and demanded he do something. Hopefully there are more men in the world like John and not so many wimps as Carl. What is the worst that can happen to a kid that fights on a bus? expelled from school? thrown off the bus? well i can't see anyone in their right mind doing anything to a kid for intervening on a victims behalf.

I hope when I am out I am around men like John!

school bus assault appalling, I also have a 14 yr old riding a bus back and forth to school. It seems like we are hearing more and more about this kind of abuse happening to our children on what is suppose to be safe transportation. Something has to be done to stop this immediatly. The bus driver should be held accountable as well as the boy in this instance.

I can't believe this could happen on a school bus and the fact that no one offered any help to the girl. Castration would be too easy for the boy and there should also be punishment for all those who let it happen. I wonder how the parents feel about what their son has done and do they have any daughters? It's such a terrible thing.

Well..... I am shocked that "noone" on the bus didnt try & stop this whimpy looking young kid from what he did to the young gal. This is unbelieveable! Her crys for HELP & STOP... looks like someone could have stepped in & punched the guy.( sometimes fighting is the RIGHT thing to do) in this case.
Second....The bus driver, he should be dismissed and punished also. The young kids are on a bus that (HE) should be in full controll of "IF" not get rid of him. Maybe he was intertained by this act! Either way HE is the adult here and I cannot see him not hearing screams for help and not noticing what is going on (on) his bus. It looks like we may need to assign two people to ride on some bussess, one to drive and one to guard over our young kids.
In my opinion.... both need to be punished.
It is a sad day when our young children cannot be safe on a school bus.

How in the world can Bond not notice a sexual assult on the bus he is responsible for. I use to drive bus in South Carolina. And there was not a seat on my bus I could not see, nor miss any inapropriate behavior of any kind.I have in the past stopped my bus. Pulled over to the shoulder of the road. And inspect all activities on my route if I assumed foul play in progress. Bond should be held responsible.

I live in the NW, but heard about this horrible incident. The girl will need counseling for a long time. The monster who created this need should be forced to pay for it. Then he should be taken to the nearest vet and fixed immediately, so he can't do harm to anyone else.
The bus driver should be fired immediately. S/he should have been aware enough to see that something REALLY wrong was going on. The driver should be considered an accessory, since s/he did nothing, and should be forced to help pay for the girl's counseling as well.
Those who stood by and did nothing should be suspended from school for a time. True, this did not happen on school grounds, but it did happen on a school bus.
I do not believe for one minute that, had several other kids jumped in and beat the snot out of the monster, he would have continued. One good shot on his head with one of those Trapper-Keepers might have been all that was needed.
If the district, the super, etc. do not prosecute to the fullest extent, then they should all be dismissed from working with kids.
I am SO sick and tired of school administrators bowing to the whims of the parents, who always threaten to sue.
My heart goes out to this young girl and her family. My own daughter was raped (by her dancing teacher!), and the horror, the nightmares, the fright, last for years and years.

this is the most ridiculous thing that i have ever heard of! i know this girl and to think that no one stepped in makes me sick to my stomach. how in the heck could a bus driver not hear a girl screaming for help? the utter stupidity and lack of awareness of today's society is disgusting and impermissable.
