I understand they are doing bad things at McCormick, but if it's as bad as everyone is saying here then why haven't they shut them down ?

My husband has been driving for McCormick for over 4 years now and for the most part, they have been great. The company did go through financial issues back in late 2009 I think but we never missed a paycheck.I also know for a fact that if anything is wrong with the truck they will have it fixed. My husband is in the shop in Atlanta so much he gets on my nerves, lol. He makes $24 an hour. I do think they kinda screw the employees on the fringe side of it though. We should have a say so in the insurance and retirement.

Not yet,But several of the employees that have worked for them here have recieved a letter from labor board,If you search them on the postal website, they are on verge of bankrupcy. Not realy a surprise.
I also know that the O/Ops down here were given an ultimatum of become employees( paid by hour) and we rent your truck,or we dont need you anymore.

Alot of the o/o's in atlanta have quit but there is always another idiot to take their place. Its sad to know they are taking advantage of people like they are.I talked to them once about hauling, but they were going to pay less than 46 cents per mile and furnish my fuel. That sounded like a scam, so I decided against them.So they are about bankrupt?

They cant seem to have the money to pay late slips the drivers get, dont seem to have the money to pay prevailing wages to their drivers, dont seem to have the money to pay for upkeep of equipment but they do have the money to build a huge shop

A trucking firm is planning on locating on West Jefferson Pike in Rutherford County. McCormick Trucking is aiming to build a 15-thousand square foot building on 18-acres of land near State Route 840. Rutherford County

thats all the late slips and money they have beat out of employees and owner operators.MCCORMICK WILL NOT PAY LATE SLIPS,nor pay the prevailing wage to owner operators they hire to use their trucks.

I worked for McCormick about 14 years ago, just before I got hired by another contractor. He was screwing the local and short haul company drivers - short paying us. Another words, he wasn't paying us what the USPS was paying him TO PAY US. That is why I quit and went to work for his competition. A lot of mail contractors do their drivers that way. When I started out hauling mail in S.Cal about 25 years ago, the first contractor I drove for did us the same exact way. We ended up getting a nice settlement out of it. Well, I didn't personally, because I wasn't with the company long enough at the time, but many of the drivers got thousands of dollars. I also knew of contract drivers getting payed less than they were supposed to in WA state years later. This is nothing new. Many of the Mail Contractors bid way too low, and pass their losses on to their drivers...

Already Tried:
I have contacted the company that is the employer and the insurance co. I have read the laws provided by the Labor board and to my understanding this should be an option as to weather we want to be a part of the insurance. It is considered a benifit not an obligation

If this is a prevailing wage job, then you would report this to the Office of Inspector General, since they investigate different cases of violations of fraud under federal contracts. Additionally, it may be a violation under the prevailing wage act and you need to report the possible prevailing wage violation to the US Department of Labor. Under prevailing wage laws the employer must either pay for the benefits or give the employee the cash equivalent of those benefits and the US Department of Labor would have to investigate to determine if the employer is violation of the prevailing wage laws.

how do i get in touch with inspector general. and when I ask the mCorimick trucking co. they say that the money that is paid for insurance is paid by them but it shows up on my husbands pay stub and he is taxed and showes in his yr W-2 Is this legal? If I contact the wage labor board which dept. do I ask for . Is there anyone else I can write to It seems like this is a scam. I dont wish to sue anyone I just want what is being paid for. Example I just pulled a bill out. My thyroid was removed. the cost was 38 thousand dollars and the insurance paid 1,400. We pay 6678.00 per year. I could buy my own AARP cheaper and better.. Do I approach the company and tell them I refuse this insurance. On his pay stub it shows that they give him 279.11 as Fringe tax him then deduct fringe benifits insurance of the same amount of 279.11 direct me to the agency inspector general and the Dept of Labor and which dept I would talk to thank you I am satified with your answer just need this last thing thank you

Yes, benefits under the prevailing wage act are taxable and calculated in as part of the hourly wage. I did not say the wage labor board, I stated the US Department of Labor wage and hour division. http://www.dol.gov

The office of inspector general is http://www.oig.gov

California Kid, scroll back through the forum. There are names and phone numbers of the inspectors who are actively investigating them. Every call counts as these people have been screwing employees for years. Hang in there it is time consuming. God Bless!
