Home builders/new homes

We recently moved to the Murfreesboro area and are looking at building a new home or buying one in progress. Would anyone be willing to share their experience with homes they have recently purchased/built? So far I have visited Fox Ridge, Swanson, Ole South and Colonial (Estates). However I didn't get to talk to anyone associated with construction or any of the potential neighbors. Any experience shared, good or bad, would be appreciated. Also looking for advice on crawlspace versus slab. I just don't want to buy a lemon.
Thank you in advance.

The only prob with those builders is that they are large companies (trac builders) . Sometimes you get more for your $ with a smaller builder. I have built around 150 custom homes in Mboro, Franklin area over the past 12 yrs. I have couple different program where I work along side the homebuyer building cost plus. You generally have $20,0000 - 30,0000 equity soon as you move in because we eliminate the realtor

Do you know what area of Mboro you want to live? And the price range you want to stay in . I just finished a home in Mboro on the north side of town.

Thanks for your response crckjck96. We are currently living by the VA hsopital in the Thompson Lane area. Really like it up here. But my spouse's job is moving to the Joel B Jackson (by Amazon)area in about 15 months. So I would like to find something close to I-24 but not so squished in tight. I would not need a mortgage if I stayed in the 180-215k range, which is my goal. 1750-2100 sq feet ideal.

Interested in hearing more about your program. We are retired and looking to downsize in size of home, one level and cost ($170,000).
