I am getting increasingly annoyed at a certain politician parading around past my house everyday, clearly trying to get votes from us who are trying to rebuild our lives. This man has never cared about us before, and just because he is gonna run for mayor again, he is down here galavanting around acting like he is everyone's friend. Well I will tell ya what, everyone down here knows damn well what you are up to Leo. You ought to be ashamed of yourself to be taking advantage of our situation and trying to get more votes. We know better. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

I have noticed it too. He comes down everyday and tries to be Mr. Friendly. His help is welcome, but it is painfully obvious what his intentions really are. Makes ya wonder if it would be different if it wasn't an election year. We have learned in the past that he is a nice guy, but a horrible mayor.
Take a look over the last few years and notice that there have not really been any big political issues or drama, like there was every year he was in office. Things seem to be running much smoother than before. Just because he is a nice guy, doesn't mean he is gonna change and be a good mayor. Sorry Leo, but facts are facts.

Yes our old ex mayor is showing his true colors. Using a disaster to gain political power. You should be ashamed of yourself Leo.

He was not even purchasing the water. He was getting it from the Red Cross and then handing it out, like he was doing something great. Another Leo the L..r move. When you you ADD it all up, it equals - I will do anything for a vote!!!

Well I am glad that I have not been the only one to notice this. I am seriously disgusted by his actions. I have seen him mowing people's yards, and giving them water that he got from the Red Cross, and bringing coffee around to workers, but we all know that there is an alterior motive. We all know that he is trying to drum up votes again. Again, I know he is a good and nice man, but if you have to stoop so low as to take advantage of other people's crisis, then you have gone too far. I will tell you this, Leo will NOT get my vote ever again.

This is not the time or place to be out politicing. It is in complete bad taste, and trust me, it has been noticed by many. Sorry Leo, but some of us are sick of it.

Yes he has been running the city. Fighting to get financial help for the victims like a good mayor does.

My house had major damage and I am staying with my sister. I was working at my house the night before last and Max Smith was walking in the area, speaking with folks and asking what he could do. He also explained that he is still pushing for state and federal aid. He's doing a wonderful job.

Max is just as worthless as Leo get a clue you all probably voted for Obama to right. Just a bunch of bottom feeders I am sure. Do any of you even live in the flats?

Leo was councilman for much of the flats for 18 years and Mayor for 6. What did he do about drainage or flooding? Nothing.

I am glad someone brought this up.
Yes, do live in the flats. Yes, my house was very damaged. Yes, my life has been turned upside down. But I will tell you what, everytime I have spoken with Max he has been there for me/us. He is working his a$$ off to get the funding and resources to us. Max Smith and most of the council have been around and have been very helpful. The police and fire departments and DPW have all been here from day 1 to help us.
But I too have noticed Leo down here, walking around and driving around. My neighbor and I shook out heads is disgust when he drove by and waved. I agree, it is obvious what he is up to. We do not forget the past, and we certainly won't forget his distasteful actions now. Leo, you can keep that bottle if water, and you can bet that you wont be getting our votes either.

No he isn't. The levy broke and the city won't take responsibility for it.

That shows how much you know about what happened, because the levy didn't break! I walked the levy after the flood and it was intact! The Levy's were only made to stop eleven feet of water, not the seventeen feet that we actually got. Six feet of water went OVER the levy.

Actually, according to a State run site, the waters actually reached 18 ft. during the flooding. Had the levy's broke, the flats would have been leveled.
