If we all think about it, the only school in Hart County that has any guaranteed security is the highschool. All of our elementary schools are easily accessed they all have doors that are unlocked, see through glass and not to mention several outside doors that include glass windows. I think hart county schools should implement a buzz in security feature along with two way tint (where the people inside can see outside to see who is approaching but the people outside only see black or a reflection of the outside)the cost is not too much when it comes to the lives of our children, teachers and staff and after today's shooting in connecticut this was a small town much like the towns in Hart County, we need to come together and make sure our schools are protected no town is immune to tragedy!!!!!!!

btw, the guaranteed security at the highschool is the security guard located as you enter the school which is like a look out for the school in the event of an outside threat, we could atleast post a security guard at each school until further and more dependable security could be put in place, I am kind of concerned about sending my child to school on Monday, I mean there is a reason they call some murders copy cats people and we all know that drugs exist in this county and others not too mention criminals and firearms

Why didn't the almighty 'God' protect these innocent little children?

That's what I want to know!!

'Where were you god, you SOB?'

That's what you should be asking your 'savior'!

What you should be asking yourself was

"Where was my God" to protect these innocent little babies??

if someone is hell bent on doing something evil like this, then there is almost no stopping them, unless you are real close to the person.we cannot afford to put armed guards in each and every school around the state,we have had a good record with the way things are going so i think we are ok.if someone is hell bent, there is no stoppin them.

If our Government would stop giving everyone's money to all of these Deadbeat people out there we could pay our debts & maybe have some security for our schools

I totaly agree with the post of this, we do need better Security for our School's. If we can afford Laptops for the High School (Which is WAISTING MONEY!) then we could put a Security System in our Schools. This is to the one who created this Post, I agree with you and we should work together to bring this to our Schools. My name is Ryan Richardson, so if you don't know me maybe you will while we work on this together.
Now this is to the one who posted about GOD, GOD was in this Tragedy. We might not see the Goodness that he had and the Mercy. But he took 20 Children with him to Heaven. Also GOD has given ALL Humans to have the Free Will and that is what this Man had was FREE WILL! GOD is Love and Protection, everyone wants to blame GOD, but lets look at the EVILNESS of SATAN! SATAN was the one who whispered in this Mans Ear.
But Jesus was in the Midst of this Tragedy and Jesus will keep those Children Safe and Happy in Heaven. I Pray young Man/Woman that you find the Same GOD who you Mock. If you ever want to go to Church and see Real Love, then by all means contact me and I will take you. If Not I am always here if you want a Friend or need Prayer. GOD is Love, Jesus Loves you and is only a Prayer away. May GOD BLESS You All and may GOD Bless those Familes who lost the Loved ones.

i so disagree, the sandy hook school had just installed 2weeks ago a brand new state of the art security system, and you can see it did no good,im tellin you people,if someone is HELL BENT,it is almost impossible to stop them 100%,i mean,if someone is willing and wants to die, there is no stopping them

you can put millions of dollars in security at schools, and it is no guaranttee that it will do any good, once you leave your house in the morning, there is no guaranttee you will come back at night for any of us.i think hart co are doing all they can in security, and so far,it has worked.it is fine.

Thank you, Security at our schools is definitely an issue that needs to be asserted. Whether it be a uniformed guard or a security system or tinted windows or locked doors, we need to do more than what we have now which is UNLOCKED ENTRANCES ALL THROUGH THE DAY!

I completely agree! We DO need some sort of security for all of our schools! I think that it should be mandatory that all schools have a metal detector or a security guard with a metal detector before the person can enter the building. The security right now (which is practically none) just isn't going to help protect the students...

And also, God had nothing to do the with CN shooting. God gave us His commands in the Bible, it is our own choice as to whether or not we follow them! Did He not say, "Thou shall not kill"? God is no respector of persons, meaning what He will do for one, He must do for all. There is no way He would promote such activity that took place in Conn. That man was full of evil. I pray and claim protection over my family and I daily..."no weapon formed against us shall prosper".

just think of how much glass there is in each and every school in the state,i mean most all doors are three/quarters glass, and it just said on tv that the shooter in conn. WAS NOT buzzed into the building,he SHOT HIS WAY THRU THE GLASS DOOR AND WENT IN THRU THE GLASS AREA.no security system will stop this, now if school boards can budget enough money for a retired police officer to be a guard then that might be the way to go,but all the school resource officers are in high schools only, there are none in elementary schools,NONE.

I saw a mfville cop standing outside memorial's doors this afternoon when busses were loading. So either something happened or they are going to post some guards for a while.

so did anyone find out why there was a cop outside of this school? I mean was it for safety or because of another reason I would like to know myself

Safety. My sister goes there and said Poynter gave them the safety talk about the doors being locked and the cop being around.

The high school now has Jim sitting in the front lobby instead of his office so he can watch who comes in..

It always takes a tragedy to make people see certain things in life. As a parent of a 1st grader, NOT in Hart county, what happened in Newtown made me think. There needs to be some measures taken to improve security. I'm not for a security guard. The issue is what kind of retard will they hire. It'll be someone with minimal security experience (ex. mall cop). They'll be unarmed and basically worthless. How about an SRO? I remember having an SRO in middle school and HS.

Next would be some remodeling of the schools. These all glass doors are tactically unsound. Steel doors that auto lock during school hours with security cameras on the entry points would be a step in the right direction. Anyone who wants entry needs to be buzzed in at the discretion of office personnel.
