Amen! "Worried about RLP" Thanks for your honest opinion and assesment on RLP, but if we are going to start new then lets pick a NEW mayor with a backround in Managment and Economics, with the election of NEW trustees with some extended education, honest and ethical with a hint of good old fashioned common sense! people who care about the place they live in and the residents who live there and shop there, I'll vote for that!

Well, Brian I have a suggestion for you.
There will be three trustee seats up next spring 2010. Why don't you run for office? Maybe you could bring some much needed new ideas to the table. It only takes thirty signatures to get your name on the ballot. With so many people in this town wanting REAL Change you shouldn't have any problems getting votes.
If you are really serious about running, hit the streets. Go door to door when you are out getting your ballot signatures and ask the people face to face and find out what THEY want for the Town.
That way when you put your platform together you will be running on an HONEST Ticket. YOU will be SPEAKING for ALL OF US. Not just a selected few.
Iv'e lived here for forty years so if your serious about making a REAL change let me know, I'll help you Campaign.

The thought of running had crossed my mind, there is one snag called Saddlebrook farms, the current trustees have the current mayor in their corner so her and her family (the current Fremont township supervisor who works at Saddlebrook) can push the vote in Saddlebrook like they have in the past, seems that another group had already won except for Sadllebrooks vote, and no matter what anyone says until Saddlebrook is gone we will never know the potential Round Lake Park is capable of, if things are to change we have to get Saddlebrook to annex into Grayslake where they say they are located check out their website, truth be told their website says nothing about Round Lake Park.

I remember the 2005 election. The reason Ila won Saddle brook, was three weeks prior to the election Herself and her slate of canidates went to saddlebrook and offered half priced village stickers and also served up and I quote,(All the residents of SaddleBrook just loved the little chocolate eclairs and other sweet treats we brought for them.) She also dished up a pack of lies with those treats, thats how she won saddlebrook.
In these troubling times it doesn't matter what the supervisor babbles. If you have a solid plan it only takes a meeting with one saddlebrook resident who has been lied to enough times that can divide up the saddlebrook vote. Considering that is a senoir community, the one think that seniors are always consummed with is their MONEY.
If they feel that is in danger they will step up and speak out.
I did hear something a while back and not sure how true it is, but it maybe worth investigating.
I heard that the main street project that passed last election is mostly being funded by the residents of saddlebrook. Because they have the most rooftops and they have a higher housing price.
Which means they pay more property taxes then we do, so I was told that alot of the money for main street is coming from them. Like I said I heard that don't know if it is true or not?
However if it is true, Do the residents know that?
Do they know that money is coming out of their precious nest egg? I do agree that SaddleBrook should not be part of RLP, they should be in GraysLake. That's where alot of them say they are from anyway. For if they where lied to about that project and who is really funding it, I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems getting votes out of there. Let us know what you find out, Happy hunting.

it was widely known from the newspapers that Saddlebrook does not pay taxes to Round Lake Park they pay an agricultural tax to Grayslake, so they should not have had a vote in the Main Street project, Baczek’s group should have filed a lawsuit and got the votes tossed out, it will be funny to see how much money they do get with all the homes going into foreclosure, also rumor is the RLP board cut so much the village hall is now closed one day to save money, and we are hiring another police officer, according to the cop I talked to, he also said the cuts are not effecting the police department they are going to hire more officers, I think we have plenty just go to the village all and look at Washington street they are going back and forth all night doing nothing I can see, so lets take that money and pay the bills, one more thing maybe they should give the parking lot back to the people that paid for it since when can a public funded property not be open to the public? I also believe that the 2 trustees that are on the village board are there wrongfully and should be removed, if Saddlebrook promotes Grayslake then they should run for Grayslake counsel. If I was going to run Saddlebrook has to be challenged and the corrective actions taken with property taxes they need to pay the correct amount or de-annex to Grayslake, all resident should be offended this is taking place and all resident should go to the council meeting and complain, they live here too

I try not to read these posts because they seem to be the same people bantering back and forth under fictitious names. We are watching the thourough decline and demise of a once proud town. Blame it on whomever you want. As long as you have a group of senior citizens (Saddlebrook Farms) that do not shop or visit our town controlling the election process RLP is never going to get better. I am now laid off like many of my fellow neighbors. 2 kids an ex wife and a town riddled with newcomers from allegedly the south side of Chicago,(read in to that what you may) I am stuck. Many houses on my street are up for auction and that means my new neighbors will probably be section 8 renters or very low income homeowners. Thats wonderful. Most people try to pay off their house and use that money in their senior years. I owe more than my assesed value according to that little blue card I just received. I have not read or heard 1 thing from our elected officials regarding any kind of assistance or any kind of a plan to return RLP to health. Village officials PLEASE say something comforting. You lied when you said we were not in debt because we are, you lied when you said we are safer because, judging by the gunshots around town and the amount of people overdosing, we are not, you lied when you said our water bills would not go up and the mainstreet bond referendum wouldnt cost us anything because they have gone up so PLEASE lie some more. At least we might feel like our leaders are doing something. So far it seems they are not. How about 1 Round Lake. Make Rich Hill Mayor and let the new "City Council" go through the election process. 1 police dept. 1 fire dept. 1 governing body with 1 vision. It will never happen because it makes too much sense. So in the mean time Mayor and Trustees PLEASE let us in on your plans if you have one.
what are section 8 renters? and how do low income people afford a mortgage and rlp taxes?

I heard through the grape vine that Groot garbage
removal company is interested in renting
stock lumber.
To use the facility to work on there trucks.
I also heard that the owners of the trailer park are having a fit over it, because they are afraid the trucks might cause an odor to linger over the trailer park.
Has anybody else heard or know anymore about this?

It has been the buzz with the business owners I have talked to, they say that it has already been in the works thanks to a former Trustee who brought them to the village board, again the Mayor who did not want Groot in the village, but was out voted in by the trustees, after reading the minutes the mayor stated she does not want to fill the open land, that’s maybe why she failed to follow through with the TMJ project,or the rail spur, yet the mayor voted for the 120 bypass which will cost the taxpayers $461 million including construction, land acquisition, engineering and environmental mitigation, but she doesn't want the village land used to increase her sales tax which would bring much needed revenue to the village, you really have to thank Saddlebrook Farms for the screw job they gave the village in the last election, the village has cut office hours and reduced overtime and step raises for the police department, and is not seeking any kind of business for the village other then Groot who was already in place and you cannot blame the economy, new business are opening all over, with the Grayslake fire department putting in a substation over by Saddlebrook farms (because they really should belong to Grayslake)it was suggested by Nelson to also seek a Meijer with in the 20 acres that the village owns, McCue said NO! Why? because her relative farms the land for a meager $1,000 a year that is way below the market value, so until we get rid of Saddlebrook Farms, the Round Lake Park residents will have to put up with miss management, and no future, as for me I'm looking to get out of this town, this current administration is going no where and collecting their pay like they are doing everything possible, if you could get paid to sit on your hands Round Lake Park village counsel is the place, oh I’m sorry that’s right the main street project which still hasn’t happened but will so she can improve the looks of the pizza place so she can sell it and make a nice profit when she gets run out of town, develop the rt 120 properties, more people will spend money on rt 120 then they will driving down main street. yes Mayor name the good? and clean up your farm, its a violation of the ordinances!
Resign McCue NOW

Round Lake Park residents rise up and take notice Saddlebrook has once again reached into your pockets and stolen from you, not only did they take the election from you now they are going to cost you money, yes your hard earned cash, read the article in the News Sun dated November 12th 2009, McCue was told the village was going to be in a deficit but she denied everything saying that Mr. Baczek was lying, yet today she states “Despite budget cutting moves, 2010 looms as another year of deficit spending for Round Lake Park. The budget, which is on track for passage next week, is projected to have a $255,000 deficit, according to Mayor Jean McCue.” and “In previous years, some police expenses were paid for from the general revenue fund. Now all or most police costs are in the police department, she added”“McCue noted that village officials made a special emphasis this year to take a realistic view of potential revenues and expenses and record them in a more transparent way.” Isn’t that what put you in this place, that and McCue cannot run a village the future is NOW McCue, it’s time to put in the resignation.
“We were able to save $86,000," said Trustee Patricia Williams” that’s all? Well lets trim the fat, police chief and his one hundred thousand dollar income for being a part time chief, let the deputy chief run the village cut the over spending in the police department, there is about two hundred thousand right there but no they won’t do that they would rather “Cost-saving measures include no step salary increases for police officers, and the Village Hall being closed on Wednesdays, Williams said.” see they closed the village hall one day a week to inconvenience us the residents, and they still tested for police officers which had to cost the village money as nothing is free.
“The estimated budget is $3.75 million, according to Williams.” How do you run a village with no real business tax money? The loss of Stock lumber because McCue did not want it to keep her and her family awake at night when they delivered the goods by rail to the rail spur she never delivered, and what about main street you cannot be serious you want to still use resident moneys for main street? You’re not serious how much money does Main Street bring in to the village it cannot be even close to 3.75 million dollars I bet it’s not even close to one hundred thousand dollars.
First order of business reduce spending and change the way you tax Saddlebrook farms so that they make up the two hundred thousand you’re in the hole now and start looking for business that can make an impact right away in 2010, and build 120 as fast as you can or are you trying to break the village? Maybe work out a deal with your brother to maybe save your hide and bail you out but turning the village over to Round Lake? Well do it already before the poor residents of the village loose more hard earned cash, but for God sakes RESIGN McCue, resign now!

Look around. The material put out during the last election had a lot of truth in it. The Mayor did fire the village accountant just to find out last month that the facts and figures were true. The village is 6 to $700,000 in debt. With the help of the NON PROPERTY TAX paying residents of Saddlebrook the old part of town got a nice new 1 million dollar bond referendum that the TAX PAYING RESIDENTS have to swallow so the spanish markets all have nice sidewalks and street lights on 134. I see nice NEW squad cars pulling people over at a ridiculous rate (perhaps to create an income stream just a thought)but wait lets not forget that crime is down 60% in RLP. Crime is NOT down they just re-classed the way its reported. Example: if you have 1 homicide in 2007 and 0 in 2008 crime went down 100%. Fuzzy math to say the least. Who are we kidding. The village sign currently has a message telling residents to combat crime by locking our cars. Thanks for the insight Ms. Mayor. I have been stopped twice in the last month going to get milk for my kids at thortons after I get off my 2nd shift job. Very harassing to say the least. Once I was told it "looked" like my license plate light flickered, it was not and the other because I touched the yellow center line. Bogus reasons both times. The old guy in the green truck told me I had to cut my grass with more regularity or I would get a ticket. There are 10 vacant homes on my street with Hay growing in the yards. I told him I was a single Dad and just trying to survive and he didnt much care. I used to really be proud of our town. Now I just want to move and find a town where the Police are friendly, the Mayor and politicians actually have a clear plan to keep us out of debt and I dont have to worry about some yard nazi pulling up to me in his green truck because i actually can speak to him in english, and where my intelligence is not insulted by telling me to lock my car doors in my own driveway. People its not going to get better. You can buy a house anywhere for under $50,000 in this town. What do you think we are in store for. Doctors, lawyers, professional people moving in? The answer is not for me to attend Village Meetings neither. I read the minutes and from what I see any public input is usually tabled for future consideration. Ridiculous. But on the bright side the new kind of people we are attracting are usually good pizza eaters! You rock on Ms. Mayor
Take it easy, Ken.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Scorpio

This is not the easiest day for concentrating on what needs to be done, whether tackling those Christmas cards and letters, writing out a list of jobs, or getting on with other urgent work. Mental activity seems to be blocked, as Mars is slowing and Mercury is under cosmic pressure. Take some time out for meditation, or reflection, and let your subconscious do the work.
