But revenue from the sale of timber will increase revenues, so where is that money going? Do taxpayers get tax rebates?
Also, how did this issue get priority over the litany of other pressing issues?

Why would anyone get a rebate when the city is in debt?

This is just another way for PAWSINMYWALLETSKY to make off with Allentowns money at the end of his tenaur.

Just like his realestate dealings around the area, State Hospital, JH Bennet and the old exide property for a Toyota.

I don't like the guy as much as the next person, but the dude had nothing to do with the State Hospital. That was all Rendell and co.

Pawlowski can't do anything with the land up there, either, since that's state-owned. So I dunno what you're babbling about, but it isn't all truth.

Even if you don't like Rendell's plan with the state hospital. It's a wise move. Here is a huge building which at one time housed over 4000 people, now holds a couple hundred. The building is at 5% capacity. As are other state hospitals. It's ludicrous to keep them all open at 5% capacity and not consolidate the many patients into a couple of hospitals instead of spreading them thinly into huge buildings.
The state will probably sell the land to the city or to developers at pennies on the dollar so they don't have to maintain the property any longer at a huge expense.

Actually, Sofa, they're already leasing the empty buildings to other organizations. So a good portion of the buildings have been in use for a good period of time now, even if not by the state itself. Where does this closing put them?

You're right. The buildings just west of the main complex are leased. Basically taking up another 5% of the overall campus. Have you ever been there? The place is huge and for the most part is empty.

The only two buildings that are empty are the psychology building (the first on the left on the main drive) and Hillcrest (up next to the watertower). Shettel was in use by another company, though that might be empty now, too. Next to M1 and M2, Liberty Health is using the building as a detention center of sorts. Admissions is mostly office buildings and capable of four units, though two are currently in use (the other two are used for staff during times of inclement weather and for housing patients during times of renovations).

M1 is used for Cenpro, M2 is empty and used for storage. M3 and M4 are full, as are M5 and M6. M7 is used for activities and the patient library, and M8 is used for renovations.

The Medical Services building still houses the doctors' offices, as well as training areas for staff and other various personnel offices, as well as the pharmacy and morgue.

The barn is empty. In fact, that should be due up for demolition soon. The building behind M3/M4 houses the patients' gym. The building behind that houses the boiler plant. The cafeteria and kitchen are located in between M3/M4 and M5/M6.

The building down the road behind Liberty used to be the security office, but since they've moved up to the admissions building, I'm not really sure what it is used for, other than that's the garage.

The old pool building was torn down and built up from scratch by some company (not sure who - I want to say it's the Head Start offices back there). Head Start has the daycare facility on campus. There's also another government sect using space on campus as well.

The space is more widely used than you and the rest of the public seem to think.

That all being said, yes, I'm quite familiar with the campus; I used to work there.

I too have been there numerous times over the last couple of years. You make it sound like the place is virtually full and that is not nearly the case.

Out of all of the buildings (not including the barn), two are definitely unoccupied (as in, no one aside from security has been in them in ages), one more possibly unoccupied (as I said earlier, Shettel was being leased out to a halfway house of sorts, but I'm not sure if they're there anymore or not; if you really want to know, I can find out for you). The place IS virtually full; just not the hospital part anymore.

You're talking about the townhomes built next to Keck Park off of River Road? That was city-owned property, not state. That was not hospital property. Sofa and I are talking ONLY about hospital property and the buildings on the property (which is state-owned, NOT owned by Allentown).

But don't let facts obscure your talking points.

Thanks to the satellite versions of google maps, I've marked most of the buildings and the approximate property line.

Now I know the satellite images are old, but there are no "red roofinns" on here, nor are there anywhere on hospital property. So sorry, Political, but you are mistaken.

Thats an old photo and if you drive there you wil see the buildings that are built and being built, down behind the heating building not in the picture. The land used to be farmed byhospital employees and inmates of history.

The boiler/heating plant IS on the map (it's not labeled, but I could label if for you, if you'd like). And I'll be sure to drive up there Saturday. Last time I was up there (a couple of weeks ago) there was nothing. I doubt they've built up the area that much in a couple of weeks.

Political, you are definitely mistaken. There are no buildings being built on state grounds on the hospital property. None. Where there ARE luxury townhomes being built, down by Keck Park, is CITY property. NOT state property, NOT hospital property.

This information comes from a family member who still works security at the hospital. He says you should take pictures of these buildings in reference to the hospital and post them; they'd love to see them, since this is all news to them.

The public does not get up to date satalite views, and I don't see the ugly red roof structures that are built. Drive the road down by keck park that goes from allentown to beth along the railroad transfer station. You will not miss them if you look to the left

...are you really that dense, or are you purposely being obtuse? I've said it three times now. Maybe you'll only read it if it's in all caps?

THEY ARE NOT BUILDING THOSE HOUSES ON HOSPITAL PROPERTY. THE "ACERAGE" WHERE THE HOUSES *ARE* BEING BUILT BELONGS TO THE CITY; IT IS *NOT* STATE PROPERTY.
