I was always bitter towards Muncie residents who looked down at me for being a Ball State student, I would go into a restaurant with one or two friends and people would say snide remarks like "here comes the chirp chirp crew" or "it's our favorite group of students." I lived in the dorms, didn't drink and actually went to BSU to learn...so I didn't get it.

But all you have to do is go down Nelly to see how BSU has ruined Muncie, the neighborhoods are littered with broken beer bottles, used condoms, mattresses on the front lawn, and people lighting off fireworks in mid day. It's even worse when you go into the apartments and there are kids strewn around in the courtyards with open containers of Jack Daniels, Baileys etc. while their rabid dogs run loose. The bottom line is that while I though Muncie residents gave us no respect, clearly we give them none back.

It's not just that. Ball State Students drive our property values down, and our taxes up. If you think the trash strewn around the campus neighborhoods is bad then try cleaning up your lawn after a friday night. Crap everywhere, the smell of urine and vomit...it is awful. I wish the city would cramp down on the troublemakers.

MUncie is Ball State. Without it, you are nothing. Face it. Ball State is here to stay and more important than the people of Muncie. Get this through your heads.

I graduated form Ball State and I have to say this. I HATED COLLEGE STUDENTS WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE AND I HATE THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Most college students are educated idiots. No real world experience and they think they are above the law. College is a environment that breeds stupidly and ignorance.

I grew up in muncie. Attended BSU. I still have lots of family in muncie. The town was and is a ran down dump and its not because of students. First the city needs to get on the landlords and have them check the properties more often. They just collect the highly inflated rent( they can do this because they know split between 5 kids it seems cheaper). Also get people to open classier bars and dining establishments downtown. Away from all the chains and franchise stores. There are enough dives in muncie to fill three towns. And also better jobs. I still love going and seeing my friends when im in town and there are alot of good people in muncie. But make no mistake, those college kids( most) are the only reason muncie has what little it has. Get your city officials to clean up the town and attract new potential businesses

That's what happens when you live near a college campus.

I attended BSU as a freshman. And to be honest I hated BSU, and Muncie.
1. Property values suck anyway with or without BSU, it's not urine and vomit that decreases the value of your home, it's your neighborhood, the quality of the home and a range of other factors. Also, the homes in Muncie are below average compared to areas like Carmel, IN or Granger, IN where houses regularly fetch $300-1000K.
2. Hating students gets you no where, I actually had a bad experience walking though one of the neighborhoods close to Muncie. One of the owners questioned be very rudely about why I was on her property (there was no sidewalk, and I heard a car coming so I stepped in the driveway merely for a couple couples when they pulled in)
I'm a good student I work hard, and I don't litter. I felt extremely bitter about the way I was categorized and labeled by them.
3. Ball State is an average school full of idiots. There's a reason why it's so easy to get in. The student idiot ratio isn't so high when you look at IVY league schools.

This is terrible! Yes BSU has a huge influence on Muncie and has for quite sometime. But to say that it is more important than it's residents is just ignorant. I assume you are an out of town ball state student!? When you order your pizza from Greeks or grab coffee from the cup or grab a delicious craft beer from be here now or go out to get frat boy blitzed at the locker room... who do you assume owns and runs these places? Local Muncie residents. Next time you grab a late night dog from Carter, u should apologize for being such an ignorant jerk!

Don't live in a college town if you don't want to deal with the lifestyle... Ball state was here before any of you guys.

Because if your walking at night in any neighborhood in Muncie someones gonna see if your trying to rob them. Because believe it or not we have a high crime rate and that stuff happens on the regular in most parts of town.

Um why don't you live in a REAL town then. You have the choice of where you want to live. Before moving here you should of done your research. Also it's not like property values here were high to begin with. There's not a single neighborhood here with values close to $500K. Let alone 300K.
