I am a bit confused hearing there was standing room only audience in the local county board meeting. Tons of people there opposing a new road, and were not allowed to voice their concerns about the topic. The board removed the issue to be discussed and said they did not legally have to discuss it. Even went to the point of threatening the local people that they would be thrown out if they mentioned it, which they escorted a person out??? Isnt this illegal? Do we citizens not have the right to free speech??? This is BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!! Something needs to be done!!!

It may be worth the $80,000 just to know both Beards are out of there. Karma will get Mike Beard right in the rear.
Then again, he may like that.

I don't think so. The voters have spoken. Take that 80,000 dollars and use it to fix something that's more important. Like huge pot-holes, spreading some gravel on some roads, or installing some under the road drain pass thru's

Mr Mike Beard--you have made the worst mistake of your tenure by paving your own road on the county's dime. Forever you will be in debt to the taxpayers of Clinton County. Being so sheepishly disgusting as a Commissioner and a human being, set forth with nothing but greed throughout your life. You have stomped on so many toes only to disgrace yourself and walk away with the smirk you carry on your face. You have now left a legacy for your children and grandchildren that will forever be known by them and the public. You sir are a disgrace to this community and karma will haunt you down in the future.

Drain "pass thrues" are called culverts.

If there are holes in your road, all you have to do is call the highway department and they will come and fix them, usually by the next day.

Thank you for clarification on my lack of the proper terminology...

However, this isn't directly about that. It's about spending money unwisely and about voting members of the county not getting an opportunity to speak at a public meeting.

This is one of the many reasons why our county and it's county seat struggle to attract businesses. They do what they think is best for their little group and to heck with the community.

One only has to look back over the last 20 years of opportunites presented to see that there is no "long-term" vision to grow the tax base and employment opportunites.

This is what they call government. You, as a citizen have NO voice, you do not need to think, that will be done for you.
"The American people can no longer afford this government". Remember it, and live by it!!!
That's why I am glad that I don't lay down and let the Govt completely dictate my life to me.

I remember who to look out for. People like me who will do what is needed to help out our communities in any way, shape, or form possible. Most people on here pi$$ and moan all the while sit on their a$$.

You lay down and let them trample all over you. That's your right.

Thats why the people in this community need to wake up. The same group that ran it 50 years ago is still running it. City and County this cycle needs to stop, that's why this community is stagnet. We need to get these people out replace with new, but do it very carefully not like what happen in the city. New face but same people.

That is what they did with Bill and Mike Beard. They were voted out and that is why Mike Beard is doing what he wants before he leaves office.

I think that when an incumbent is voted out of office. They should be leaving the very next day, not months down the road. This way they can't pull the stunts like Mike Beard is pulling now. He knows he is finished and so he wants his road paved and nobody can say anything about it.

Well, how exactly can one do in this situation other than "lay back"? When you have an obvious conflict, with tons of people opposing it, but you are threatened to be physically removed if you mention the issue. This is nothing but dictaorship! I thought we lived in America???

I wonder if this project would still be such an issue if Mr. Beard didn't own a residence on that road? Is easier access to the Bryan nature preserve a good or bad thing?

I`ve got to agree. How many people even know it is there. I have never seen the county promote it in any way. Why is it such a big deal now?

own a residence! No he owns all the land for "the mile" road on the right side of the road! Thats a tad bit more than "a residence"! So i understand his selfishness, but for Bill Beard...what the he!!. It just shows neither of them give a da** about this county. So Bill that makes you a hypocrit!!

Never heard of it either. Looked at clinton county website, chamber website, indiana tourism website and see nothing mentioned about it.

Crazy stuff these Beard Boys do. But we'll be looking clean shaven in a few months
